Why Ferguson?

Riot police on the streets of Ferguson, Missouri.

“Fox and CNN viewers witnessed a police car, a car dealership and the local Little Caesar’s Pizza set ablaze, a beauticians’ store looted, a McDonald’s with its windows smashed — and ‘Full circle: Liquor store Michael Brown accused of robbing being looted.'”
Ed Driscoll, Nov. 24, 2014

The grand jury in Ferguson, Missouri, returned a “no bill” against police officer Darren Wilson, and devotees of the slain Saint Michael Brown — a martyr to the Holy Cause, in the eyes of idolators who worship at the Civil Rights altar — engaged in a ritual riot, while the High Priest of Social Justice, Barack Obama, gave a ceremonial press statement.

Why?

That question goes unasked in the wall-to-wall cable TV news coverage. Because I’m up to my eyeballs in a book project, I don’t have time to pay attention to every Major National News Story that comes along, but I’ve spent the past three months wondering, “Why Ferguson?”

It’s like Trayvon Martin. The basic idea of that drama was, a black teenager got shot by a white man and this was an injustice.

Of course, black teenagers are shot to death on a daily basis in America, but because they are usually killed by other black teenagers, there is nothing in the death of a young hoodlum of interest to the Civil Rights cult unless the shooter is white (or at least half-white, as it turned out that George Zimmerman’s mother is Hispanic).  This cultural phenomenon is so obvious, one hesitates to state it so explicitly: “Civil Rights” has been re-defined to mean “whatever gives black people an excuse to hate white people more than they already do,” and the journalistic establishment is committed to inciting such hatred.

A white person has to be pretty goddamned privileged, if I may borrow that phrase from the social-justice theorists, to pander to professional grievance-mongers in such a blatantly irresponsible manner. You need a degree from an elite college, and a job in media or academia that pays you a handsome salary, in order to be the kind of white person who believes that stoking black anger is beneficial to society, and yet it is clear that many white liberals do believe this.

“In the hands of a skillful indoctrinator, the average student not only thinks what the indoctrinator wants him to think . . . but is altogether positive that he has arrived at his position by independent intellectual exertion. This man is outraged by the suggestion that he is the flesh-and-blood tribute to the success of his indoctrinators.”
William F. Buckley Jr., Up From Liberalism (1959)

Excuse me for re-using that Buckley quote, but we cannot understand liberalism without recognizing it as an effect of indoctrination.

Why do liberals “think” the way they do? In fact, they don’t actually think at all. Our elite are utterly irrational, like the monkey in the psych lab experiment, pushing the button in the Skinner box to get another hit of cocaine, heedless of the consequences. Our current system of education does not teach facts and skills, it teaches attitudes, and one of the prescribed attitudes is: Black, good; white, bad.

Liberalism involves a crude Manichean worldview:

Women, good; men, bad.
Youth, good; adults, bad.
Atheists, good; Christians, bad.
Hedonism, good; responsibility, bad.
Abortion, good; motherhood, bad.
Sodomy, good; normal sex, bad.
Wilderness, good; carbon energy, bad.
Labor unions, good; entrepreneurs, bad.
Government, good; corporations, bad.
Foreigners, good; Americans, bad.
Democrats, good; Republicans, bad.

It is this last distinction — blind loyalty to the Democrat Party — which is the ultimate goal of the attitudinal training we now call “education.” Our government school system annually hands diplomas to teenagers who can barely even read their diplomas, and the bureaucratic mediocrities who run the system don’t care that their “education” teaches kids nothing useful, so long as the student learns to vote Democrat.

What did public schools teach Michael Brown? That it is entirely acceptable to get high on dope, steal from a local convenience store and, when apprehended by a police officer, to resist a lawful arrest:

“The witness’s account of the unarmed Brown
charging Wilson — even after he had been shot in the
hand during a struggle at the cop’s patrol car —
supports the officer’s contention that he fired
a series of shots as Brown bore down on him.”

The governor of Missouri is a Democrat. The mayor of Ferguson is a Democrat. The prosecuting attorney in the case is a Democrat. I’m not sure there were any Republicans on the grand jury that returned a no-bill against Officer Wilson. Yet the media manipulators who are stoking racial rage over this story are doing so with the certain knowledge that, by fomenting anti-white resentments, they are serving the political interests of the Democrat Party.

That’s all it is, nothing more.  They should be ashamed of themselves, but if liberals had any sense of shame they would not be liberals.

Those who are upset with police militarization are missing the point. The mission of our police force has become “to serve and protect” … the Democratic Party.
Officer Wilson, in the spur of the moment, actually chose to protect public safety. He tried to restrain a person with dark skin tone (a potential lifelong Democratic voter) when he should have let him go.
If you (from the DOJ on down) forget that your job is to serve and protect the Democratic Party, there is hell to pay. Burn Baby, Burn!

“What did the militarization of the police have to do with the shooting of Michael Brown?”

Nothing. And it’s an excuse anyway. Just because some used equipment is getting bought, it means nothing wrt police practices and methods, which may be imperfect but have really not changed much or at least are not worse than they’ve been in the past.

Where justice is denied, where poverty is enforced, where ignorance prevails, and
where any one class is made to feel that society is an organized
conspiracy to oppress, rob and degrade them, neither persons nor
    property will be safe.

The relationships between the Police and Communities have changed dramatically since I was a kid in the 50s and 60s. No, they weren’t perfect then, but Police attitudes towards “civilians” was radically different than today.

Today I’ve an article at Time Mag (or is that rag) defending the rioters, and Vox is saying that Wilson’s story is completely unbelievable. Vox is saying Darian Johnson’s story is believable, even though all the evidence corroborates Wilson. It takes a special kind of stupid to be a Libtard.

They improved radically for the most part, but people have expectations that have changed even more. We expect perfection now.

There is a great deal more distance between the cops and the rest of the civilian population now, than when I was a kid. Cops see themselves as a “breed apart” from the rest of the population, and that is not a healthy thing for the Police. We need each other, but the behavior of the Police has been pushing the rest of the population away from them and people have started seeing them as an enemy.

One good example of such behavior is what happened to a guy in Pennsylvania. A State Trooper assaulted a man, beating him rather badly, and breaking at least one bone in his own hand. Charges were laid against the man for breaking the Trooper’s hand and he got a 4 year prison sentence.

Such blatant injustices are a very good recipe for inculcating hatred of the police by the “mundanes.” Stuff like that must stop, or the Police will find themselves twisting slowly in the wind with their own live sin danger because they will become hunter men. Eventually wolves attract attention for their depredations and get dealt with rather harshly.

I disagree 100%. The police have adopted community policing, political correctness has infused approaches to law enforcement, there is sensitivity training and there is far less corruption than days of Serpico and pre-Miranda cop behavior.

We ALSO have retards who think they are ACLU lawyers and will push for their rights and not what is best for all, or who think every time a cop stops them they can be rude, discourteous, and obnoxious. We have Michael Browns who will say “You wont shoot me, pussy” and punched the cop in the face, tried to grab his gun, and then later charged at him.

We provoke polices, give them no respect nor regard for their difficult job. I’ve see a good trend in that we will thank a veteran for their service, but we dont often realize that a big city cop has a more dangerous job than a DoD non-combat military person.

Here’s what some cops had to deal with THIS WEEK:

I am aware of what you point out, but my observations are encapsulated in what I said earlier. I didn’t make the statement in a vacuum, and such things as happened in PA are not uncommon.

Yes, the Police have a hard job, but too many of them have made it even harder by causing the Police to become more isolated from the population as a whole. That the level of corruption among the Police has dropped is a matter of serious debate when you see the cops clam up at the slightest chance one of their own may be in legal trouble. They may not be on the take, but there are too many other ways corruption is expressed, and those things will not go away as long as we are fallen humans.

What did the militarization of the police have to do with the shooting of Michael Brown?

Nothing. But in this case it seemed help spark a media rush and helped to actually inflame the conflict post shooting of Michael Brown.

Another point: Had the cops took pictures and got his body off the street sooner that would have probably helped considerably.

They can’t have it both ways. Either straight white guys are affable pansies that can be badgered into giving feminists whatever they want, or we’re ruthless mofos that conquered the world because it was there, but not both. This isn’t 1714 and I don’t believe in chivalry.

In February of 1969, on a beautiful, cold, sunny day, snow on the ground, I visited Reinhold Niebuhr and his wife Ursula, English-born and Professor of Early Christian History at Barnard College whose lectures I heard while in utero, at their apartment on Riverside Drive. In that same time-frame, my father served as student assistant to Reiny.

Reiny invited me to accompany him on his morning walk. He, being of elder years, and the sidewalk snowy and uneven, held my arm. Walking north along Riverside Drive towards Grant’s Tomb, he asked me what I thought about “this integration business.” I said I thought it would be accomplished easily and quickly. He said, no, it will be hard and take a very long time. There was gloom in his tone and he was not pleased with my answer. I think he thought me flippant and ignorant.

I think we both were right and talking about different things. I was talking about black — then Negro — people who were from good families, regardless of rich or poor, educated themselves and got on with their lives as regular Americans. Reiny was talking about Negroes who were from little or no families, who eschewed education as “white” and set themselves against America and Americans even though they were both.

Many urban, suburban, and even rural police are now equipped as well as or better than many nations’ militaries. I am law & order guy, but when SWAT teams are sent to deliver warrants, and non-knock raids are sent to collect taxes, we have an over-militarized police. Structure (training) and resources lead to behavior.

There was a shooting here in New Orleans around the time of the Zimmerman trial. A white home owner shot a 14 year old black kid who jumped his fence and was rattling the back door.

The usual suspects tried to give him the Zimmerman treatment even though this kid had a record for multiple burglaries. The whole thing collapsed when the kid was arrested again for burglary as soon as he recovered from his gunshot wound.

I remember the Times Picayune giving this kid the whole “Civil Rights Martyr” treatment at the time it happened. I’m not sure if they even mentioned the case being dropped after the kid was arrested again. I stayed up till early morning on a work night arguing with the loons on the T-P comments section just to see my posts deleted as fast as they could locate them.
