Livestreaming the Constitution
Friday’s planned reading of the U.S. Constitution in the House of Representatives — dismissed as a “stunt” by liberals — will be livestreamed via video on the Internet, Sissy Willis reports. The 112th Congress will read the Constitution. The 111th Congress never even read the bills they voted for.
SHOCKING REPUBLICAN SCANDAL!
Expect that kind of reaction from the media whatever Republicans do in the 112th Congress. My latest American Spectator column: Even before they were sworn into office, Republican freshmen in the 112th Congress had already shocked the political press corps in the nation’s capital. A group of the incoming GOP representatives scheduled a fundraiser with […]
Ruh-Roh: Former Bush Aide Murdered, Body Found in Delaware Landfill
There is probably no political angle to this story: A man who fought to get the Vietnam Veterans Memorial built and served in two Bush administrations was murdered, Delaware police say. John P. Wheeler III, 66, was found dead in a Delaware landfill, and his death has been ruled a homicide by Newark, Del., police. […]
Speaker John Boehner’s Swearing-In: Less Glamorous, More Choked Up and Crying
The Washington Post: Austerity is the theme of Republican John A. Boehner’s installation as House speaker this week, placing the start of this new Congress in stark contrast to the more lavish festivities that marked Democrat Nancy Pelosi’s swearing-in four years ago. On Wednesday, following a bipartisan prayer service at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Boehner […]

The Wall Street Journal‘s Patrick O’Connor and Janet Hook preview the upcoming fights: The Republican majority that takes over the House this week plans an ambitious drive to slash government spending by tens of billions of dollars in the next few months, a strategy that ensures that the capital soon will be consumed by intense […]
RNC: Saul Anuzis Under Fire
The rough stuff continues in the contest for the Republican National Committee chairmanship. A week ago, Wisconsin GOP chair Reince Priebus got blasted for his law firm’s stimulus-pimping business. Now it appears that Michigan’s Saul Anuzis is in the oppo-research crosshairs. An anonymous e-mail calls attention to tax liens against B & S Telecom (PDF documents […]
Rape: I’m Against It
Also arson, armed robbery and extortion. Pretty much everything that’s illegal, I’m against it — fireworks and high-speed driving being the two (usually) victimless crimes of which I’m most fond. However, nobody’s asked me today about why I hate Nanny State anti-fireworks laws (“Light Fuse, Get Away“), nor have I been asked to debate whether the […]
