The Russians Call South Carolina’s Media Trajectory A Molniya Orbit

Twitter was awash in SC-1 Jubilation about Sanford’s win over Colbert-Bush:

IowaHawk captures the depth of the opportunity SC-1 has missed for redeeming itself in the eyes of our mainstream media betters:

The trajectory calls to mind something from the Cold War:

I suppose if Sanford has truly repented, and the voters have given him what amounts to a pardon at the polls, then maybe conservatives should think about walking back some of the epithets hurled at the dishonorable scoundrel.

Upside we hold the seat flor at least another yrar.yay. downside, holding our breath waiting to see if sc has gifted us another Gingrichian sideshow distraction from the real issues facing us in 2016. Othet downside, getting Sanford thrown in our faces every time we complain about a dem’s character. (Hello wags weiner) other other downside rnc deciding wrongly they can run any tomato can and win so screw the base. Guess we’ll see…

Ah, yes. The Molinya orbit. The one used for communications and reconnaissance satellites when one doesn’t have the ability to launch reliably to a geostationary orbit. A low-budget/lazy-man’s approach.

    Fitting.

We conservatives are often too quick to condemn and too slow to forgive.

Apologies for the typos, apparently I can’t walk and tweet at the same time. Damn cars think they own the intersections…

Another plus: Lefties just pissed a bunch of money away.

As for Sanford — we’ll see. I just hope he (a) restrains any potential righteous indignation, and (b) keeps it in his pants this time around.

Well, if Weiner becomes NYC mayor, think of the gold mine for jokes about hot dogs in The Big Apple. Twitterheads everywhere would rejoice.

It’s hard to make penis jokes using “Sanford”, after all.

An erect Mark Sanford has no conscience.

It’s just one big, cosmic reminder to us all to chill out, and at least enjoy watching him try to re-establish himself. It could be a real train wreck, which is always nice.

Or it could be a genuine turnaround, in regard of which we should be happy for him. (If it actually is genuine.)

We can forgive an individual, but demolishing the family in general is a no-go.

That’s the most creative spelling of “the world” I’ve ever seen. 😉

I have no trouble with the concept of forgiveness, but that doesn’t mean I’d be dumb enough to put him back in Congress. He needs to go away for awhile, then maybe come back. Hopefully the guy will be primaried and ousted.

At least all you ignorant outsiders didn’t stampede the voters of the 1st District into choosing a big-spending establishment hack like Bostic. And nearly $2.5 million of Democratic money is down the rathole, another positive.

For those of you too stupid to remember or to care, Sanford was one of the biggest spending hawks in Congress in the ’90s, a thorn in Gingrich’s side every time he betrayed the conservatives on spending. Boehner would have had a much easier time controlling Bostic.

Of course Busch never had a chance. I said before the runoff and all along the over/under was 53 for Sanford and he polled 54%.

Maybe next time when you know nothing about a state, a district, the candidates, or the issues beyond what you’ve been spoon-fed by media and self-styled experts from out of state, you will sit down, shut up, watch, and learn for a change instead of showing your ignorance.

I was initially against Sanford because of the impropriety he showed near the end of his Governorship. But South Carolina, still being a state dominated by Christians have shown that they can forgive someone and give them another chance.

Sanford was the first Congressman to give back extra office expense money to the US Treasury when he was in Congress. Also, with the rebuke from the RNC and NRCC, Sanford has no allegiance to anyone but his constituents.

Chances are pretty good that he will hold the seat in the next general election, also.

Adjoran, you can rant and rave all you want, Sanford is a shame to teh GOP. It matters not a whit what the voter make up of teh district is, Sanford is no better than the morons we’ve been dissing among the Dimicrats. We now have another known adulterer among the GOP ranks, and it does us no good.
Also your rant has little attachement to what we’ve been saying. So, sit down and STFU. You have no idea what Sanford will do as he is now politically weak. I strongly suspect he may be put out next election, but we will see. I’m not a know it all like you, so I’m not going to predict what will happen.

I can predict what is happening. There is a lot of pressure being put on the former Mrs. Sanford to drop the charges, and even more pressure on the judge to jail Sanford and force another election.
Given Sanford’s fiancee, I’d also say he’s a sure bet to vote for Schumer’s vision of immigration reform.
