Senators Cruz And Lee Talking Doubling Down On ObamaCare Funding

Byron York at the Examiner reports:

With Congress moving ahead on a continuing resolution to fund the federal government for the rest of the fiscal year, some Senate Republicans are proposing an amendment to delay funding the implementation of Obamacare — and they are threatening to stop the entire continuing resolution process unless their amendment is given a vote.
The amendment is the work of Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz, joined by Utah Republican Sen. Mike Lee. “I intend to object to consideration of any continuing resolution that does not include a vote to delay funding of Obamacare,” Cruz said in a press release Wednesday. Arguing that Obamacare will slow economic growth — already just 0.1 percent last quarter — Cruz added, “I believe we should continue to delay such funding at least until economic growth returns to historic averages.”

Slowing economic growth is one thing. The question I have is, if there is no balanced budget, and every time they revise the costs of ObamaCare, it goes up by a non-trivial number, how can we possibly be thinking of letting this monstrosity get funded?

York notes:

In the end, they will lose. It is highly unlikely that Cruz and Lee will receive a vote on their amendment, and even if they did, it would fail in a Senate with 55 Democrats. It is much more likely that Majority Leader Harry Reid would invoke cloture and at least 60 senators would vote to go forward over the Cruz/Lee objections and without considering their amendment. The end of the story, according to one Senate Republican not aligned with Cruz and Lee, is simple: “Reid files cloture and people don’t want to shut down the government.”

It would be a vote that would come back to haunt at least Mark Warner here in Virginia. Make these sunny beaches own the sand they’re kicking into our future.

Mark Warner has enough money to purchase the votes he needs for reelection. Until Pat Moran is hung by the neck until dead in the town square of Old Town Alexandria, Warner has no worries.
Cruz and Lee would be better off filibustering and discussing the legitimacy of Al Franken’s election, along with some other Dems.

Funding for Obummer care should not be inluded in the house version of the CR. Then simply tell the senate it will never be. period. end of story. Then whine to the world about the big bad GOP extremisist in the house and let Boner and his minions say “so what? We weren’t elected to destroy the country.” and Let them continue to whine and belly ache and let FedGov shut down. Show some stones for once.

Right on. House Republicans, you’re going to be called “extremists” regardless of what you do, so what do you have to lose?

Maybe the House could use the time to let the low information voters know how badly they’re going to get clobbered if this thing becomes a reality. Not that I mind stupid people being hurt by their own foolishness, I just don’t want to get hammered along with them.

As a Virginian, I fail to see what Mark Warner has to fear. He’s a commie, he votes like a commie, he got elected by low-information donks and well-informed commies.

The house passed the CR so the only hope we have is the Senate. In other words, no hope at all.

The bulk of the Senate GOP are worthless and loathsome. All we can do is make sure they don’t get reelected to serve during Obama’s third term.

Virginia went for Obama just last year, knowing ObamaCare was coming. Warner is still the most popular elected official in the state. It is unclear on what basis a vote not to shut down the government “comes back to haunt him.”

It comes from the same mindset that proposes to “primary Lindsey Graham” with no money and no candidate – but they’ve got High Hopes.

If we want to draw a line in the sand, why a CR at all? Just pass a budget – again – and adjourn.

No argument from me! Boner says he wants the normal process, so shove it down their throats and walk away if they won’t play by the rules.

If the Senators are so much against health care cost, then I would like to see they give up their FREE healthcare paid by US TAXPAYERS. They should reach into their own pocket to pay for their own health care and don’t sponge off on the rest of american taxpayers.

What makes senator Cruz so special that hi is entitled to taxpayers paid health care? He should put away the elitist attitude and offer the same thing for citizens what he is receiving.

The last I checked any first world nation is offering the same health care to its citizens what they politicians receive.

Only hypocrite republicans are against this healthcare. When it started it was a good plan. But the republicans twisted it and turned it until it has become a disaster.

What I don’t understand is what makes our incompetent politicians believe that they entitled and FREEload on certain things. Are they better then the rest of us?

I don’t think so. But they sure act like they are better then the rest of us.
