It’s slightly mundane, the triumph of a Presidential candidate with enough motivation for the job to take on a little rain:

Indeed, it’s a far cry from the ol’ boom-stick days: UPDATE: [well, so much for letting me advertise Army of Darkness for free for them. . .]

I can hear this beagle howling all the way in Madison!
October 9th, 2012 @ 1:11 am
Smitty posts are hard.
What does “Ash!” mean?
October 9th, 2012 @ 2:13 am
It’s a reference, along with “boom-sticks”, to the ‘Evil Dead’ film series. Ash is the main character.
October 9th, 2012 @ 4:08 am
If you click the lower image, I take you to the IMDB page.
October 9th, 2012 @ 7:50 am
I went there and still didn’t see what “Ash!” meant.
My wife tells me I don’t do a very good job of looking for stuff, though.
October 9th, 2012 @ 7:56 am
I never saw any of the movies about zombies or living dead or whatever. Just never appreciated the genre, I guess. The whole, gothic thingy just doesn’t resonate with me. Odd, too, given my years of being a fan of SF & Fantasy, comics, and even attendance at a few media conventions. Heck, I even like the classic monsters. (And of course, zombietime blog.)
Totally missed out on all of the “night of the living dead” type stuff, though.
October 9th, 2012 @ 9:07 am
Too bad that referral is now not allowed. Even the image doesn’t load.
October 9th, 2012 @ 9:54 am
That is a funny movie. But I missed the reference too.
October 9th, 2012 @ 9:55 am
And they have the gall to attack Romney over proposing to cut the funding for Big Bird?
October 9th, 2012 @ 10:03 am
The specific reference is to Army Of Darkness, which sometimes is also called Evil Dead 3; you don’t need to have seen Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2 to see it though, since everything you need to know from them is summarized in the first 2 minutes. It’s worth seeing even if that’s not your thing, since the movie is just as much a comedy as it is a horror movie.
October 9th, 2012 @ 3:32 pm
Bruce Campbell, the 70’s horror star and Old Spice pimp who bears an uncanny resemblance to Mitt.
October 9th, 2012 @ 8:15 pm
Agreed. One of the true classics.
October 10th, 2012 @ 12:35 am
Oh wait, that guy’s great on Burn Notice. I even like the “Chuck Findlay” roles he plays. Cheesy and serious at the same time.
October 10th, 2012 @ 12:47 am
I tend to find all horror movies to be comedies.
Maybe because the real horror is found among living humans, in places like Africa, where warlords have their thugs cut off the hands of captives—even small children. Or these stories popping up lately of people doing crazy sh*t while on something called “bath salts.”
On the other hand, an occasional Rob Zombie tune and the art that goes with it can be interesting. Also the art of the Caribbean cultures that are related to Santeria and Voodoo. Especially the artists in the New Orleans area.
October 10th, 2012 @ 2:18 am
I’m not a huge AoD fan (not a detractor either, it’s a movie), but when a movie starts with Ash dropping out of the sky, fresh from his conflict with zombies in ED2, battered, torn, a chainsaw replacing his missing hand, along with a rusted hunk of Detroit rolling iron, into the middle of a medieval battlefield, you know it’s not your typical “zombie flick”.
(I’m not even going to try to parse the clauses in that last sentence, I’ll just trust that they all agree and make sense)
October 10th, 2012 @ 4:05 pm
That makes it sound interesting!
