The brilliant Wayne Allyn Root suggests that Mitt Romney call Obama’s bluff, Mitt offering to release his tax returns in return for Obama releasing his college transcripts:

My bet is that Obama will never unseal his records because they contain information that could destroy his chances for re-election. Once this challenge is made public, my prediction is you’ll never hear about Mitt’s tax returns ever again.

Of course, Obama would immediately fold under that circumstance — if there was nothing to hide in Obama’s Columbia transcripts, it wouldn’t be such a big secret — but I seriously doubt Mitt will take Wayne’s suggestion by raising the issue, so it will likely remain a moot scenario.     Root may or may not be brilliant in other spheres, but in this situation, he probably doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

    Parents can’t get rid of their child’s American citizenship, nor can said child get rid of it until he or she reaches the age of majority, which by then had been lowered to 18.

    American citizens who grew up abroad CAN be considered as international students — in college, I had that happy status (US citizen, but part of the international students’ association), but this has nothing to do with any of that other stuff Root is insinuating, and it sure wouldn’t show up on an academic transcript.

    If Obama’s hiding anything in his college transcripts, it’s probably:
    A.  Lousy grades, a la John Kerry; and
    B.  A course list that would make a Marxist blush and feel like he’s the right-winger in the room.

    It is curious how a self-admitted poor student got into Occidental, and then as a third year transfer to Columbia which, then as now, usually required a stellar transcript and a good reason.  Also, many cum laude Ivy League grads, including Columbia, don’t get into Harvard Law, and we know Obama was not an honors grad since those lists are public.  So how did he get in?

    But it may just be Obama’s nature.  He refused access to the birth certificate information (not to get the Birthers all fired up again), too, just to let people get crazy over it.

    More interesting would be for him to produce the passport under which he traveled to Pakistan in the ’90s, since it is not his current passport.

    Every PAC should hound this issue to death with Obama’s own words saying that anyone who will not release information has something to hid. Let Romney run a positive campaign and say when Harry Reid Barack  and Nancy P release ten years of their tax returns he will do the same until then they should shut up. What his records will show is that he is a liar and we just want it on paper for the media to choke on what we already know. Oblamer is serial liar.

    WAR is right on this.  I know I thought the same thing.  I know other have too.  But Mitt is not that sort of playah so he will probably not do it.  He should.

    On my way home about an hour ago, I heard WAR on Sean Hannity’s radio show.  He said he received a call from Breitbart’s Charles C. Johnson at 0400 Vegas time this Morning.  In that call, WAR says that Mr. Johnson decided to call from Indonesia after he read his article in The Blaze because he wanted WAR to know he was holding in his hands proof that Obama was a citizen of Indonesia.

    I can’t wait to read that report and see the evidence.

    There’s still the Sandy Burglar Option: Obama’s transcripts are missing from the sealed envelope, and no digital records exist.

    It’s not the grades that are being hidden. It’s not the Obama was probably an Affirmative Action appointee. It’s the professors and the extracurricular groups to which Obama belonged that are being suppressed.

    You’ve come closest to my own theory. I think if somebody ever gets access to all the info Obama’s been keeping hidden, what they’ll find in the folder is Sandy Berger’s laundry ticket.

    As if voters are really that interested in Romney’s tax returns or Obama’s college records.  If Romney or Obama had any notable positions I think fewer people or journalists would care either.

     Well, he was a citizen as a child because Indonesia grants citizenship to stepchildren of citizens.  But it’s a “dual citizenship” until and unless it is overtly exercised once age 18, and is irrevocable.  Acts like registering to vote or traveling on a passport are overt exercises, no formal “declaration” is needed, nor can one supersede a prior exercise.

    Exactly. I should have made clear that I believe Obama is an American Citizen [considering I think it likely he is the biological son of Frank Marshall Davis]. I should have specified that my desire to see Mr. Johnson’s report was to see if it showed that Obama got into his colleges under false, illegal pretenses.
