HotAir has the new Romney ad, and there isn’t really anything wrong with it, per se:

But can’t we just tart things up a bit, amidst our financial apocalypse, with some retro Zappa that is totally apropos #OccupyResoluteDesk?

    Frank Zappa might even have approved! He self-identified as a conservative/libertarian, and with the libertarian Tea Party ascendant I’d like to think that rascal would have been with us. Perhaps Romney 2012 might ask Dweezil Zappa and the Zappa Family Trust for a license.

    Zappa probably would have approved of occupy and his music sucked. Nobody would listen to 4 minutes of that noise.

    echosyst, you are flat out wrong.  you said, “Nobody would listen to 4 minutes of that noise.”

    Well I saw him 4 times over the years.  at 2 hours a concert that would be 10 hours.  once after the first show, I bought tickets to the second show and went right back in so that was a 4 hour show.  That fact in itself makes you wrong.  But it wasn’t just me.  His auditorium sized shows were packed.

    You might not like his style or his music but to say, “Nobody would listen to 4 minutes of that noise”, is ridiculusly wrong and uninformed.  Everyone at his concerts listened to far more than 4 minutes of his music and enjoyed it to boot.

    “Thank God that you still got hands”.  Now go use them disco boy.

    Seeing Zappa at DAR Constitution Hall was one of the five best concerts ever for my milage.

    haven’t listened to that much zappa, he might be a great artist, but that particular song didn’t do much for me.

    The romney commercial was very good.  Its always effective to quote the other guys own words condemning hmself.

    Most morons don’t know that Zappa was a recognized modern classical musician as well as a musical satirist, so it’s OK, you morons.  I think he was a liberal, although he was not an ideologue.  We could  use more of that type of independent thinking, even though I disagree with all things liberal…

    Having read The Real Frank Zappa Book a bazillion years ago, I think Frank was mostly libertarian, to the extent that categories of any sort didn’t melt upon his entrance.

     Cadman, I hear where you’re coming from, and I know how many fantastic musicians worked with Zappa over the years (Jean-Luc Ponty being a personal fave), but frankly I have trouble sitting down and listening to one of his pieces all the way through.

    On the other hand, I would never say he sucked, either. 😉
