Mike Bost: Best Rant Since Santelli?

Three years ago, Rick Santelli went on this now famous tear:

Via the Blaze, Illinois Rep. Mike Bost lays down a similar marker for the ages:

For the most part, blowing your cool is a Bad Thing. But every now and then, lifting the relief valve is necessary and proper.

Actually, some of the downstate lawmakers (at the urging of their constituents) have proposed secession from Cook Co. (last time it came up was Nov.).

This is something that has been percolating in my beleaguered state for quite some time — lotsa folks not much caring for Quinn, Madigan, and the Chicago Machine (which calls the shots for the IL Combine).

I’m thinking my state could get really interesting in no time at all if certain things happen.

For the sake of all that’s decent, they should leave Cook County to it’s own devices.

This is something, perhaps, we should encourage around the whole of the country.

IIRC, Illinois still has open borders. Wisconsin, Indiana, and Iowa could use some more conservatives.

    Illinois is at Stage 4.

What those states are likely to get is well to do liberals who created the mess, and can afford to leave (and want to because they don’t want to pay for it).

At first, they will look like a benefit — because they have money — then they will start to vote…
Then in the second wave, rootless, n’erdowells (as opposed to the down on their luck poor, who often have roots) will move, because the pickings won’t be as rich — the other states won’t like having them at all (no benefits to having them), and they may vote as well.

We won’t want them back; just a kindly psa.

Personally, I’m tempted to explore the notion of IL adopting a unicameral statehouse with one, maybe two, reps from each county — it would certainly be more representative than what we have now.  Our governor would not have the Machine to do his/her bidding so easily.

And of course, secession from Cook Co. — heck, Cook and the collars should be left on the table if that did not work 😉

It appears as though Mike Madigan has decided this little ploy of his wasn’t such a good idea and is now backing off (for now).

That’s one of the big problems here: Madigan has been in power waaaay too long (and some buddies of mine who live up in DuPage just loooove him, and his daughter Lisa).
I refrain from talking politics with them; it’s better that way.
