Rule 5 Monday: Memorial Day

Once again, I am compelled to begin the weekly rule 5 post by reminding the Loyal Readers that the links that follow are not necessarily safe for work, and in fact, in the case of Soylent Green‘s links, we can pretty much guarantee that they’re NSFW. Thing is, I don’t have the time to peruse every single link folks send in. I’ll usually check a new linker’s stuff to make sure we don’t have outright pr0n being submitted, but that’s as far as it goes. I’m interested in what the consensus is on this, or even if there is one.

Politically Incorrect leads off this week with an ad from the notional Lynx Airlines and Brittney Palmer. Laughing Conservative has Siobhan for our delectation, Reaganite Resistance has Kimberly Guilfoyle of Fox News, and the Rio Norte Line demands freedom for Kate Upton’s boobs. Randy’s Roundtable has Sandra Valencia, while the First Street Journal goes back to 1948 for some Israeli War of Independence Rule 5. This week, Three Beers Later goes country with Gretchen Wilson.

A View From The Beach has a Emma Watson/Alicia Keys twofer, Kelly Brooks getting an indecent proposal, biking in Amsterdam, cave girls and wolf dogs, two kinds of Japanese weirdness, and something about moths & flames.
Very, very belatedly: First Street Journal’s Cinco De Mayo Rule 5.

Soylent Green has a wakeup call with Kayla Collins, something Hungarian for Mr. Sith, THEN we get to Shanna the Monday Motivationer. Then follows Tuesday Titillation, Humpday Caliente, Dakota Rae, Overnight Awesome, and a dash of Ginger. Also, a Memorial Day motivationer!

Copious Gasser makes a rule 5 post in honor of The Feral Irishman’s millionth hit, some see-through garments, cleavage and other boob shots, and a Froggy Saturday post. At The Camp Of the Saints, it’s been a busy week, but at least there’s Tasha de Vasconcelos. Proof Positive has Lea Michele, Vintage Babe Brooke Shields, and the weekly Sex in Advertising feature.

The Daley Gator’s Daley Babes are Rina Rukawa, Liz Hernandez, Melyssa Ford, Yuko Momokawa, Brenda Song, Le Toya Luckett, and Elisabeth Shue; also, Bill Clinton in a porn star sandwich, and the sad tale of Lauren Odes.

Thanks to everyone for their linkagery! Next week’s links will be due Saturday, June 2; please make sure you send them to Rule 5 Wombat so they’ll be properly entered.

As I don’t do very much Rule 5, ( and it shows in my traffic numbers), I probably don’t have much say. But that being said, as long as you put the NSFW warning at the top, you’re good as far as I’m concerned.

    Thx as always, Sir Wombat

Judging by StatCounter, I’m not the only Kimberly Guilfoyle fan out there- the meter pegs every time she hits the screen lol

I’ve never been inclined to open any of the Rule 5 posts at work.

Granted, most are safe, and I’ve been around long enough to have a good idea who is and who is not anyway.   But why take chances?

Why are people surfing blogs at work? Isn’t all recreational web surfing not safe to do when one is supposed to be working? Do most employers make a distinction as to whether ones Rule 5 pics have pasties and G-Strings? At any rate keep up the good work and roll on as you have been.

I think this is partly from my comment on the last Rule 5 post.  Wasn’t surfing at work and I very rarely click Rule 5 posts. The second click I made was Soylent Green’s and a full on eyeful of crotch had me blushing and then LOLing. Because I rarely click Rule 5, I think that’s why it took me by surprise.  Plus I have kids in the house who may or may not be looking over my shoulder and wonder why their 40 something Mom would be partaking.  No issues though.  Carry on, mates!

You weren’t the only one who mentioned it, which is why I’m trying to get a better handle on what people think about it.

I’m not sure what you mean, maybe because I haven’t had the morning coffee yet. Are you fine with Rule 5 posts as they currently are, or should we dial it back from R to PG?

    Wombat_socho,
Your Rule 5 posts are top notch. I do agree that maybe a NSFW label might be a good idea for Soylent or any other link that may deserve that label for those who may not be expecting to see such “Artistic Photos”. I have no problem with the content of the links you post of his and every now and then others that are “R” rated. You have every right to post what ever you wish with RSM permission of course. I prefer artistically tasteful NSFW photos of the “R” rated variet. I like the PG rated ones as well. Keep up the excellent work on not only the Rule 5 posts but the always important news, political and other stories. Thank You.

Adobe, your employer may not see the difference, but the office Feminazi sitting behind you or walking past sure will.

My former employer would have concluded that employees having time to surf the web indicated that there were too many employees.

You’re lucky – you have the option to check this site from work.   I follow RSM’s rss-feed, and have to make a note to follow-up at home for any particularly compelling stories – because this site’s blocked as a ‘political/advocasy’ site.

Stacy is the best boss ever: he tells me what needs doing and refrains from telling me how to do it.
I am eagerly awaiting my promotion to Designated Galley Slave & Tentacle of the Romish Conspiracy, which includes a doubling of the gruel ration and 10% bump in the annual stipend’s COLA. 😉

Wombat: While all Rule Five posts may be unsuitable for  NSFW, I generally only flag the ones that are certainly NSFW. I would think a general NSFW disclaimer should suffice.

If he doesn’t promote you to the guy with the hammers banging on the wooden block shouting ‘Ramming Speed’, it would be a grave injustice.

I hate to be the wet blanket, but I’ve refrained from clicking any RSM rule 5 posts since you started adding the Soylent Green links.  I’ve got nothing against pretty girls, even in various states of undress.  But I have a pretty strict rule against looking at nekkid girls I’m not married to.  I don’t mind explaining to my wife, my kids, or my boss the concept behind rule 5 and how that helps drive traffic to good guys like Stacy.  That’s a harder conversation with boobage, and near-impossible with crotch shots.

Soylent may be NSFWUYWFTO (not safe for work unless you work for The Osbournes), but he’s still a Rule5 deity for me. Of course, if you browse it at work you’re playing with fire, in more than one sense.

By the way, here at the Opinador we’re a couple of weeks short in R5 updates, but our transmission will resume shortly.

As one of those that put up NSFW Rule 5 postings, I have also gone to the lengths of placing each pic behind an icon. To see them, a reader has to click the icon. To me, this makes it an implicit act of the reader to see the NSFW pic. PG versions, I leave out on the post themselves.

I’m not saying that all should adopt this, but it is just what I do. I stole the idea for it from Pissed at The Feral Irishman.
