Jesus Knew Fear?

Seriously, Mr. President: what in the eternal location of Karl Marx are you talking about: “Like us, Jesus knew doubt. Like us, Jesus knew fear.”
Contrast Matthew 27:46 with Psalm 22 very carefully before contending that Jesus really doubted, or, even at the end, really knew fear. Maybe He did. But to argue past a ‘maybe’ is to take it too far.

No, what strikes the serious reader of the Gospels is that, given a spectrum with Jesus on one end and Pontius Pilate on the other, you, Mr. President, resemble the latter far more than the former.

But we’ll be about affording you copious time to repent after the first Tuesday in November.

He’s got nowhere near as much integrity as Pontius Pilate

YOU let him repent. I’m getting a bid from Halliburton to dig a tenth circle in hell.

Comrade Barry thinks he’s paying Jesus a compliment by the comparison.

Jesus knew fear?  I’m no Christian, but that is not how I understood that.  He was not afraid, but rather in anguish.

an·guish?1. excruciating or acute distress, suffering, or pain: the anguish of grief.verb (used with object)2. to inflict with distress, suffering, or pain.

Doubt? Not Christ. Dread? Absolutely! Being God he knew what he was facing, knew he had to do it, but dreading what he was going to have to suffer. I am certain he dreaded the Father turning away from him as the sins of the world were laid on him.  The cry “…why have you forsaken me” was evidence of the situation he knew he was facing, had to go through, but truly hated to face.

There was no doubt he was going to do it, and finish the job. And he did. And, He is risen! He is risen, indeed!
