Note To Mitt: Cut The Donnie Osmond Noise; It’s Alice Cooper Time

Via the Puffington Host:

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie declared on Sunday that Newt Gingrich has been “an embarrassment” to the Republican Party who didn’t have the background or capacity to serve as an effective president.
Appearing on “Meet the Press,” the top Mitt Romney surrogate didn’t refrain from sharp character attacks.
“I think Gingrich has embarrassed the party over time,” Christie said. “Whether he’ll do it again in the future, I don’t know. But Gov. Romney never has.”
And he went on from there.

Mitt, every time you send a surrogate to do your heavy lifting, you’re tacitly saying “I ain’t got sack.”

Sure, one can grasp why it’s more convenient to maintain the prissy little Donnie Osmond façade. In the general case, keeping everything trite and boring, like John McCain did in 2008, leaves fewer dangling resentments for later.

But this isn’t 2008, and, like John McCain, you’re demonstrating a worrisome propensity for gutlessness. This is not to say that red-on-red attacks are desirable; just that, if you are going to go there, man up and do it yourself. This will have the effect of ensuring to conservatives that you’re going to take the fight to Obama in a meaningful way, the way Newt has to #OccupyResoluteDesk’s media surrogates.

“Be angry and sin not.” Be very angry. If you could get Chuck Norris to admit he’s not sure he could take you in a hand-to-hand outing, that would be helpful.

The Mittster doesn’t have what it takes to go up against Obama. What other Republicans are doing to each other is mild in comparison to what the Democratic machine will do to the GOP nominee in the upcoming general election.

You’re right.  And this time he sent a bully whom the MSM love.  I wonder why?  McCain did the same thing only he had Palin do the dirty work.

Actually my understanding is they tried to keep Sarah on a leash and muzzle. McCain was a fucking piece of work, which is why I am not eager for his incarnation in the form of Mitt Romney.

I’m referring to when she said that O “palled around with terrorists”.   She said it more than one time, and if he didn’t approve she would not have continued to say it.

Attacking fellow candidates is cheap and easy. It isn’t what I’m looking for. Mittens has to prove he can and will take the gloves off when taking on Obama and biased media types. One of Alinsky’s rules is to make your opponents follow their own rules. Dole and McCain lost elections because they allowed themselves to be browbeaten into playing nice while their enemies vivisected them. Gingrich has shown he understands. Do the others?

Of course they did.  Every Veep nominee is kept close to heel because anything they say is held against the top dog.  It’s been true ever since the television age allowed all those off-the-cuff stump remarks to be taped and repeated.

Dole lost more because of his association with Gingrich.  “Where’s the outrage?” – he was civil in his criticism of Clinton, but harsh.  But Clinton outsmarted them both in the government shutdown (he didn’t really get that much extra spending, but won the PR battle hands down, sending Gingrich to the depths of negative public opinion from which he has never recovered.

McCain lost mainly because of his idiotic response to the financial crisis, “suspending his campaign” to fly back to DC.  Obama just laughed at him, kept his schedule, and flew back for the vote.  Up until that point they were neck-and-neck.  It is impossible to say what the effect of harsher attacks on Obama would have been – they certainly all backfired on Hillary – with his halo and media color guard, and incorrect to make assumptions about it.

One thing we do know, and have known for over 16 years:  the American public hates Newt.  Independents have hated him consistently, even as other politicians have ups and downs.

Dole & Gingrich lost to Clinton because of the battlespace – they didn’t control the media to the extent that Clinton did, so lost the PR war (which is really all it was.)

McCain’s failure was much worse, not only did his chosen actions appear frantic, unguided, and wholly ineffective, he ultimately missed a once in a lifetime opportunity to seize the initiative, drive the narrative, and make some real changes.

Obama had the luxury of just hanging out while it all went down.  Had McCain recognized the grass roots anger – what Santelli tapped into – he could have curb stomped Teleprompter Zero.

That’s just a little payback from TSA. TSA is being their own abnormal selves.

TSA is useless, and they know it. Other than giving paychecks to useless people that could find work otherwise, that is.
