Burning Mosques, Rabbi Hammerman?

I realize this is hyperbole, sut still:

If Tebow wins the Super Bowl, against all odds, it will buoy his faithful, and emboldened faithful can do insane things, like burning mosques, bashing gays and indiscriminately banishing immigrants. While America has become more inclusive since Jerry Falwell’s first political forays, a Tebow triumph could set those efforts back considerably.

Nice cheap shot, man. Based upon what evidence have you ever seen Christians engage in that sort of mayhem? Westboro Baptist Church does some tasteless picketing. That one goofball in Florida with a bracket ‘stache burned a Qur’an.
And then this:

Unlike some other blue-staters, I do not fear people of faith. I fear people of certainty. The worldwide struggle going on right now is not between good and evil, but between certainty and doubt.

Well, evil sure has you in the hip pocket then, doesn’t it, Rabbi? May the Lord have mercy on you.

    A man could only make that statement about the fight not being between Good and Evil if he was so lacking in faith he’s ceased listening to G-d.
    An exceedingly sad thing. He needs to listen to the words dripping out of his mouth… he can’t have meant that…

    I wonder what this fellow would have to say to Moses, or Joshua, or Elijah, or David, or Isaiah.

    For that matter, what has he got to say to his congregation (if that’s the right word)?

    I have sent an email to the editor of The Jewish Week complaining of Rabbi Hammerman’s editorial.

    I recommend that others do also. (POLITELY)

    Explain how hurtful and false his accusations are and that they have no place in a periodical that seems to be one aimed at Orthodox Jews.

    Currently Jews and Christians are the only groups of people who are challenging Islam and the most visible targets of Islams murderous beliefs.

    They would do well to appreciate Christianity’s fellowship and assistance.

    Herakles or Zeus would be more appropriate sports deities, but with Ares you could offend more people, including the commie peaceniks and the PC sports infiltrators who try to ruin every major sport on the planet under the guise of good sportsmanship, for “the good of the children”.

    I like Tebow. Did you see his last game? At the end he not only thanked his “lord and savior” he also gave credit to his teammates. But without a doubt, he pushes and inspires them to excel. That a large segment of the population could be offended by somebody like him is a sure sign of a depraved culture, which is a good reason to cuss in its own right.

    Hammerman is right about salvation. Since salvation is to be found only in Christ, it isn’t avilable to a Jew. A Jew must become a Christian first, and leave Judaism behind.

    Other than that, Hammerman is an idiot. An evil idiot at that.

    If a Jew were to become a Christian, I’m reasonably sure he could continue practicing Judaism with no conflict. The earliest Christians seemed to do so at least.

    What both of neglect is that the term “Jew” means “a practitioner of the Religion ofJudah.” Neuhaus neglected that fact as well and was dead wrong as a result. Hebrew is the ethnicity, not Jew.

    The early Church practiced only part of Judaism during the transition, if they weren’t Gentile, but that practice ended with the destruction of the temple in AD 70 when Judaism became impossible (there is a difference between Rabinical Judaism, which is a fake, and Old Testament Judaism). No Jew can accept Christ as Messiah. To leave Christianity and revert to Judaism involves a complete repudiation of Christ as a “common malefactor.” jews are in the situation they are in because they rejected the God of their fathers and brought on themselves the prophecies Moses gave to them in warning of what would happen if they did just what they did with Christ.

    Leftist gay-rights, gay marriage, JStreet supporter shows tolerance. There is a word for this anti-Christian bigorty from this anti-Torah “Rabbi”: Chillul Hashem. It means “Desecration of the Name (of G_d)” and it is used when a Jew disparages Judaism and Jews.  This anti-Christian oikophobe seems to want to justify his hatred of Christians by forment antisemitism. I can find no other rational for this piece.

    I don’t see any apology! I wish I had the comments thread from that piece, though. There was a quote from a Rabbi on how misguided many American Jews are, regarding American Christians. Love to have that!
