Via Michelle Malkin, here is the mighty Sarah Palin ad, which appears to have been uploaded on 22 November. I am sure that Ladd Ehlinger could have done something with a bit more zip to it. This appears to be a straight up the middle play. On the one hand, this egalitarian statement is what America in general, and Sarah Palin in particular, are all about: get the substance right, and understand that the anti-elitism is a style of its own.

That said, my newfound irritation with Romney’s diction helps me understand where some people are coming from about Sarah’s tone and accent. The fact that my mother (who lives in Idaho) could do passable voiceovers for Sarah (who is from Idaho) does mitigate a lot of the distraction for me, but this clip puts Sarah’s folksy cadences right out front.

I’d still love to see her on the ticket. Unsure with whom, though. Oh to be the fly on the wall when the GOP delegates look at the primary returns and realize that, no matter her conditions, they should have coaxed her into running.

    Wow, Gryphen said on his piece of shit blog that some of the images you guys picked for your ad were some of the ones he used on his blog to make her look bad. I’m glad you’re up-front about not really expecting it to convince her to run, because I can almost promise you if anything this ad probably would push her in the other direction.

    There nothing wrong with Bachmann, she’s as conservative as Palin, she can be as personable when needed, or she can be as tough as nails when necessary. And she’s got the knowledge. Hell, she sits on the House Intelligence Committee and has a good grasp of economics and tax/regulatory policies. Sure, she’s had a few gaffes, some relatively (very) minor ones. And granted, she’s not long on real executive experience, but crap, nobody’s perfect, including Palin.

    Plus, she shares the draw that with her we would have the chance to elect the first female CONSERVATIVE  president, probably the most conservative since Reagan. Hell, probably more conservative than Reagan.

    This “conversation” will be empty talk by the time Mitt or maybe Newt grab the nomination. And you will have helped make it happen.

    Oh come on, that’s really over the top. Gus Hall? Jeez! Palin was saddled with arguably the most corrupt state in the union, and without a doubt the most corrupt state GOP party in recent memory. The legislature was padding their pockets while the oil companies allowed the pipelines to corrode so badly they were leaking oil. And all this joy was through state subsidies at taxpayer expense. She had to drag them kicking and screaming to reform and got the people on board. The “welfare” the people got from the oil revenues was money they had been subsidizing for years.

    I do agree with you that Palin is not the hard core, straight down the line ultra conservative a lot of the Palin cult-of-personality folks portray her as, and that some of her positions are more nuanced and arguably even “progressive” but to compare her to the likes of Hall is taking hyperbole to an entirely new level.

    Silly idiot.  Alaska is an odd place, it was an odd place before Sarah Palin was born and it’ll continue to be an odd place once all of our bones have turned to dust.  Did you know that no one in Alaska owns the oil under their property?  It all belongs to the state.

    Until you post links documenting the crap you’ve been spewing, I’m just going to assume that it’s all just bullshit you’re spinning because you don’t like Palin.  Funny how before the national media started sliming her, she had a 90 percent approval rating.  Even if she did half the things you’re claiming she did, it’s what the citizens of her state wanted.

    Well, yes, I was certainly engaging in hyperbole. I doubt that I took it to a new level, though. After all, liberals and conservatives often compare each other to, and libertarians often characterize both as similar to, Hitler.

    In general, I think it’s actually fairly difficult to characterize Palin in terms of political principles. She’s really more PT Barnum in reverse. He parlayed financial reverses into a political career; she seems to be coming at it from the other direction.

    You know what….I’m REALLY getting tired of people blaming ME for “electing Newt” of “electing Mitt” or “re-electing 0bama”.  I get it from ALL sides.  I am 1 vote….1 voice.  I didn’t make the ad…I contributed to its making.  So if you want to go ahead and blame ME for your candidates lack of traction…and common sense….then that is YOUR problem.  And YOU will have helped make that happen.  Aren’t you proud?

    And since the oil is owned by “the state”, the state equals the taxpayers and citizens of the state, not the legislature. People tend to forget the government is supposed to be the public servants of the people. So when Palin paid the citizens of the state a subsidy from the oil revenues, she was just paying them what they was owed. Prior to this, the legislature was pocketing oil revenues like it was their own personal property. All of which is the real reason Palin is hated by many Republican elites every bit as much as by progressive Democrats.

    Why, how will it be my fault? I can’t help it that people like you can’t pull yourselves out of your depression and your cult of personality long enough to recognize when you’ve got a conservative Republican woman to support, but then again I guess the operative word here is “woman” something most of you don’t really want. President isn’t really a woman’s place, is it, Palin was just the exception that proves the rule. Well, sorry but if you really do want a conservative, a small government conservative as opposed to a big government conservative like Gingrich or Santorum, she’s your only choice besides Perry. So there’s your choices right there. Either choose between Perry and Bachmann or get ready to make your choice between Mitt and Newt. Or maybe you can give Herman a call, I hear he has a thing for making himself available to the pretty girls. I wouldn’t count on him being too conservative though if I was you.

    Now that that’s out of the way, do me a favor, you and your crew go and make a pro-Romney ad so we can bring his numbers down maybe another seven or eight percent.

    Shows you how much you know since I am not supporting Newt or Romney.  Or Perry or Cain.  And considering I AM a woman of my own means and a Palin supporter then I would hardly say I take an issue with a woman being president. 

    There is still 9 months until the convention and as we have seen over just the last 3 months….a whole lot can change.  I’m currently not supporting ANY of the “also rans” in this election so your down pegging of the other “also rans” is falling on no ears or eyes in this case.  You support who you want to.  Frankly…I couldn’t care less who you support.  My state doesn’t vote for another 6 months so you go ahead and work hard to elect Minnie Me.  She is a federal tax attorney and raised 23 foster kids and is the only one actually getting classified intelligence briefings you know.  I hear she’s polling right up there with Santorum and Huntsman.  WAHOOOOO!

    Don’t get me wrong, if you convinced Sarah to get in the race, I’d be as happy as you would be, and I’d definitely support her and vote for her. I just don’t think its going to happen. She took a lot of time and gave it a lot of thought, and decided against it. I don’t know why, but I suspect it had something to do with family considerations. But whatever the reason, its pretty clear to me that she was firm and decisive when she made her announcement, and everyone should respect her wishes. She can and probably will still be a factor in the election, probably more than if she actually ran. She can provide a vital service in helping to elect more Tea Party style conservatives who believe in small limited government and federalist policies to the House and Senate. But she clearly doesn’t think running for President is right for her at this time, for whatever reason. You can insult Bachmann all you want, but she is our one hope for a small government conservative for President who is left in the race. All of the others are either RINO squishes or big government conservatives, except for Perry, and Perry can’t get out of his own way when he’s talking, or should I say trying to talk. You do what you think is best, of course, but I’m telling you at the end of the day your cult of personality is going to leave you with a nasty taste and an empty feeling inside.

    I don’t need a politician to fill me up…sorry.  Politics is a game that is fun to play.  But at the end of the day…they are ALL corrupt.  They may not start that way….but they don’t stay that way.  We have until August 27th for someone to appear.

    Some people around here apparently don’t understand local government. Palin does. What strikes me as humorous is to watch Obamist bootlickers who give Chicago Jesus a pass for trillions of dollars in debt complain about the athletic center in Wasilla, which is generally very popular and is being paid off on time to the lenders.

    The people DID vote on the bond issues that Palin floated. Wasilla grew like gangbusters while she was mayor. Liberals hate this, because liberals can’t stand genuine achievement.
