When It Rains, It Pours for RNC

Posted on | April 6, 2010 | 9 Comments

Fresh off a double dose of bad headlines Monday, now the Republican National Committee gets another resignation:

NH RNC member Sean Mahoney resigned his post today, taking aim at chairman Michael Steele in a strongly-worded protest letter over the committee’s profligate spending.
“Not only has the out-of-touch, free-spending culture of Washington come to completely dominate the United States Congress, but I have watched with growing unease as the same mentality has seeped into our own national party,” Mahoney said in a letter to Steele.

Full text of the letter is online. and the Manchester Union-Leader has background. More at Memeorandum

Suggested 2010 Republican campaign slogan:

“Will the Last Person Resigning From
the RNC Please Turn Out the Lights.”

“Will the Last Person Resigning From
the RNC Please Turn Out the Lights.”

You can bet Steele won’t be resigning until he screws up the November elections. Then he can get to work for the DNC.

Bad timing perhaps, but you cannot say what Mr. Mahoney wrote is disingenuous. Starting some time ago, to include to last years of the Bush White House, the GOP had come to be be analogous to “Gratuitous Overspending on Pork” Party. The only place they were not the Party of NO is when it came to Pork. This is of course one of the primary drivers for the Tea Party Movement – fiscal Conservatism.

And Newt coming to Steele’s defense does not help matter any. I personally hope Steele can grab this by the reins and pull it in, but I am skeptical.

Maybe we will remain a two party system after all, with the GOP being the one without a chair when the music stops…

    Aaaaaaaaw! The poor, mistreated RNC!

Were I Bill Gates (And I’m not. I punch a time clock for a living!), I wouldn’t give them a nickel.

They are arrogant, elitist azzholes, of the entrenched “Inside the Beltway” hemorrhoidial variety.

I’ll do my own contributing, thank you very much. None of it will go to Dede (However in the flop you spell it) Scozzafava! Or to John McCain, or any of that ilk.

I wouldn’t whiz on the RNC if they were on fire and I had a half-gallon of beer to get rid of! I’d watch them burn, and light a celebratory cigar on the fire!

The RNC should just “clean house” and blame it on the Tea Party. At this point you’ve got to wonder if Steel is the next Colin Powell.
