This Song Is for @AmandaMarcotte

Posted on | August 3, 2011 | 16 Comments

Because I am now currently on a plane flying to Iowa, I had to schedule some posts ahead of time. Yesterday I heard this classic Rolling Stones hit on the radio. For some reason, it made me think of Amanda Marcotte.

It’s down to me,
The way she talks when she’s spoken to.
Down to me, the change has come,
She’s under my thumb.

You should send that YouTube link to her on Twitter (@AmandaMarcotte) and ask her why she hates rock-and-roll.

O’Sputnik has found a new meme. Congress should always continue to do what it routinely has done in the past. Raise debt ceilings continue to fund $3000 dollar subsidies for air travel for people who live an hour or two by car from airports that don’t need subsidies.
Apparently it’s acceptable to condone bad behavior by citing prior bad behavior.

That neo-confederate sex panic really got under your skin. Too close to home? Be sure to salute the nearest Defenders of the Union monument when you touch down in Des Moines. And attend the nearest gay wedding (my advice, lesbian). That will get you clear.

Will do, but got to think of something suitably provocative to say to go along with it first. Damn Twitter and its 140 character limit. But maybe that’s a good thing too, don’t want her tuning me out, assuming she ever even sees my tweet. Probably not. It was hilarious watching those girls back then go ballistic over Mick’s obvious lip-synching. I never could figure out how drummers/percussionists could pull that off and make it look real.

Oh, by the way, the killer line in the song for Marcotte-“that squirming dog that’s just had her day”. Yeah, she’ll like that.

Chuckles, we don’t have to put neo in front of Copperhead for guys like you; you and your party never stopped being pro-slavery all the time.

My great-great-great grandfather was a Democrat, born in Virginia, and served in the 7th Indiana. You can wrestle with your own snakes.

Charles, I’m sure RSM appreciated your invite, but I suspect that he’ll be too busy this weekend covering the GOP race to attend your wedding in Des Moines.

Bet he’d be ashamed of you today.

No, I think he’d like my blog post about how the debt ceiling compromise is a bad deal.

Disappointed lesbian bridesmaids, I’m just saying …not trying to cause a sex panic or anything.

No disrespect to the Stones or that great Richards-Jagger song, but a better anthem to Marcotte might be Alice Cooper’s old classic, “Under My Wheels” . . .

Especially the remake with Axl Rose on backing vocals. 🙂

So, there is that one thing you can point to that would make him proud. Good for you.

Amanda Marcotte would cause John Holmes, at the age of 18, to forever eschew hetero sex, and take up masturbation exclusively.
