ISIS Suspected in Terrorist Attack; 36 Dead, 147 Wounded at Istanbul Airport

An attack at Istanbul’s Ataturk International Airport reportedly killed 36 people and left 147 others wounded Tuesday. A member of the House Intelligence Committee suggested ISIS was likely to blame.
The massacre in Turkey had “all the signatures of an ISIS attack,” Rep. Eric Swalwell, California Democrat, told CNN’s Don Lemon. The attack was made by three gunman, each of whom detonated suicide bombs, according to Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim:
Police fired shots to try to stop two of the attackers just before they reached a security checkpoint at the arrivals hall, but they detonated their explosives, a Turkish official said.
“It became clear with this incident again that terrorism is a global threat. This attack, targeting innocent people is a vile, planned terrorist act,” Prime Minister Binali Yildirim told reporters at the airport.
“There is initial evidence that each of the three suicide bombers blew themselves up after opening fire,” he said, adding that they had come to the airport by taxi and that preliminary findings pointed to Islamic State responsibility.
UPDATE: Donald Trump weighs in:
Yet another terrorist attack, this time in Turkey. Will
the world ever realize what is going on? So sad.— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 28, 2016
We must do everything possible to keep this horrible terrorism outside the United States.

UPDATE II: A surveillance camera inside the airport caught an amazing scene — as one of the gunmen charges through the terminal, he is shot by a policeman. The officer then approaches the wounded gunman before realizing that the terrorist is attempting to detonate his suicide vest. The officer runs away with seconds to spare before the terrorist’s vest explodes:

Mark Steyn predicted this in 2009:
Then followed up this March:
And then finally finished that thought a few days later:
That is, of course, not an option for Turkey, which is 98% Muslim — but that’s their problem, not ours. We can’t stop the Turks from blowing each other up, but we can keep them from coming here and blowing us up.

The last video strikes me as strange. The police officer engages his target but stops firing before the threat is neutralized. Why didn’t the officer fire additional rounds to prevent the explosion? I have always been taught to continue firing until the threat is eliminated.

I cannot feel sorry for a country that embraces the ideology of attackers. But enough about the United States.

Turkey needs to ban all guns that will solve everything
June 29th, 2016 @ 7:26 am
See if they just ban guns this couldn’t happen…oh wait they have banned guns in Australia

That would be raciss or something. We can’t be raciss.

Supposedly you can’t buy assault style weapons in Oz. IIRC, you can’t even buy an SKS, so how could they legally buy an “assault-style” rifle?
The entire gun control movement, no matter the country, is simply a hoax.

Now, now, it’s premature of us to assume that this is a genuine ISIS attack.
For all we know, one of the attackers may have been a frustrated, closeted homosexual driven to self-hatred and murderous rage, in which case, Christians and conservative Americans must be to blame.

Different rules of engagement in some countries. Some teach police to shoot for the legs which this one kind of looks like as the perp went down but was able to push the button.

Since criminals don’t obey gun laws, the gun control movement only makes sense as a way to make it easier for TPTB to harass ordinary citizens and suppress dissent. Since criminals are already in the system and trying to fly under the radar, the criminal loophole is a non-contradiction in that case.
Which is why people buy more guns whenever there’s a big push for gun control: it comes off as “Put down your gun so I can shoot you.”

It’s all Trump’s fault. Clearly, his inflammatory anti-globalist rhetoric is causing Turks to be enraged by all the duty-free shopping and transnational travel that takes place at their airports, not to mention all their fellow Muslims going to America. Madness!
So thank you, brave terrorists. Your sacrifice for our safety will not be forgotten, at least not for a week or two (unless there’s another attack).

The police officer OBVIOUSLY should have shot the man with the rest of the bullets in his gun. This might have prevented the successful detonation of the vest. He took the job of protector, was presumably paid wages to do that job, then ran away instead of protecting.

[…] The terrorists who killed 36 people in Istanbul were devoted to ISIS, whose goal is to impose a global Islamic caliphate. These radical young fanatics were willing to die in a suicide attack to advance that cause. […]

some 6 months ago reports from Switzerland were telling tales of 2 factions of turkish people (one probably was kurds) rallying in the middle of Bern to protest something they disagreed with happening in their homeland Turkey. Don’t worry, it was nothing on the line of denouncing terrorism or violence, it was probably related to some Kurds/Turks situation. Well, the Swiss police had to come and divide people because a riot exploded within the 2 factions. So many points to consider:
1) it is bone chilling that even in a country with a good immigration policy ( = keep the indesirables out) there are still enough Turks to be able to have a rally with 2 different factions
2) it is probably the only time in a million years that the Swiss police has to sedate a riot, which is obviously caused by non-local people
3) the fact that the Turks think they are so important and they probably think they already own the country that they manage to have a rally that the 100% of native swiss population do not give a damn about. Rallying in Bern for something decided in Turkey beggars belief.
4) it bothers me that most times some people still talk about turkey as a progressive and ‘western entity’, and yes, they are obviously backward since forever, not just from when Erdogan came to power. I have to admit that it was USA brainwashing that Turkey is not that bad (muslim wise) since they are part of NATO and that trumps everything. Up to this date USA is still very pro Turkey joining Europe.
5) this is the future of Europe, wether we like it or not. On the positive side, feminists and gays will get what they deserve

The Turks I met when I lived in Germany were decent people and quite westernized. But, if they had not been, the FRG would have booted them in a heart beat. When the Socialists finally ascended to power in ’69, things started down hill towards what they are now. They might kick Turks out if they were planning to nuke Berlin and they caught them with the weapon, but I wouldn’t bet on it.
June 29th, 2016 @ 3:27 pm
In Oz, they made them turn in the banned weapons. The population did so with little protest. If FedGov here tries it, they can have my piece as soon as I’ve expended all ammo, and they can take it from my corpse. They won’t get it any other way.

Aim for center of mass. It might kill the perp, but that’s just a professional hazard in the career field they chose.
June 29th, 2016 @ 3:37 pm
Being raciss is social terrorism because it causes bad feelz, which, for obvious reasons, is worse than watching your friends and family being eviscerated by shrapnel.
This whole event just goes to show that there are too many white people, and Christians who won’t bake cakes that oppressed people are Constitutionally entitled to. None of this would’ve happened if the US had taken in more Syrian refugees.
This is all Trump’s fault. And the NRA. And the Koch brothers.
Did I miss anything?
June 29th, 2016 @ 3:39 pm
BWAHAHAHAHA!
June 29th, 2016 @ 6:02 pm
If that is the case, it was exactly the wrong thing to do. Suicide bombers must be killed to neutralized the threat of explosion. That requires a head shot or multiple rounds center mass.
I just recently completed a tactical exercise. In one scenario I couldn’t quite tell whether my first shots hit so I fired six rounds until the opfor clearly indicated he was down and out.
You don’t stop shooting until the threat is neutralized.

did you ask the 1 million dollar question? if they like parts of sharia and if islam will dominate the world? the sentence that muslim will conquer the west with the womb of females was said by a turkish personality, not a pakistani or iraqi. I do not see any difference between Turks and afghani. The first hides better his intentions.
