Why I’m Not A Campaign Manager

I’m a huge Ted Cruz fan. I like the fact that he is willing to admit that the ethanol mandate is bogus and needs to go. I’d love to see him do this, but it would probably be a Bad Move:
He won't do it, but if Cruz walked on dressed as Jake E. Blues, I'm confident that Her Majesty'd be turned to stone. pic.twitter.com/1NVXoctgDN

If she were turned to stone she could serve a purpose. Like being made into gravel.
March 23rd, 2015 @ 12:04 am
I just about choked when I read that one….glad I wasn’t drinking a coke at the time.
Has a certain Henny Youngman quality to it. Well done.
March 23rd, 2015 @ 4:43 am
The gravel would probably not pass the LA Abrasion test because it would be of very low quality. So, it would of limited use. Still, it would be useable for a few things, unlike her general uselessness now.
March 23rd, 2015 @ 5:01 am
Even low quality gravel has uses. Even if not suitable for concrete or as a base for SOG it has temporary uses such as a ”French Drain” running through a construction site. It could also have been used in Ferguson when protesters were throwing rocks at Chris Hayes.
March 23rd, 2015 @ 5:33 am
I heartily endorse the Chris Hayes application. Instead of French Drains, I would recommend the Septic Leach Field application as well. She probably already has a scummy biofilm and would readily take to the application of wastewater.
March 23rd, 2015 @ 6:03 am
No, no, no, no, no! When stone is crushed, it becomes crushed stone. Gravel is rock from river beds which has been rounded by water erosion.
Please make a not of this!
March 23rd, 2015 @ 6:46 am
Are you unfamiliar with the term ”gravel pit”. I haven’t seen ”washed stone” in fifteen years other than ”pea gravel” Technically you’re correct but back when I was ordering 100 tons of ”crushed stone” we called it gravel. If you really want to get picky you can break it down into the types of crushed stone. Crushed slate can be used as a base material and for 4000 to 6000 psi concrete but to make 8000 psi or higher one must use crushed granite. So if one’s requires 8000 psi concrete in Wilmington NC the large aggregate must be imported from further west as only slate is quarried locally. And then not all granite gravel is equal, for instance the granite crushed stone from the Pittsborro area is considerably denser and thus ”harder” than the gravel quarried around Raleigh and Durham. The difference is significant enough to require changing ones cu. yd. to ton calculation if one wants to avoid running short before finishing covering the desired square area when prepping for SOG.
March 23rd, 2015 @ 8:41 am
I run concrete plants for a living, and if I need 8000 PSI, I want to use limestone, not granite: limestone actually contributes to cementitous strength, where granite is inert.
I was able to use river gravel when I was working in the Hampton Roads area, but in Pennsylvania I have to use stone.

“Iām a huge Ted Cruz fan”
Unfortunately, Ted Cruz (and Bobby Jindal and Marco Rubio) is no more a *natural born* US citizen, as required by the US Constitution, than is #OccupyResoluteDesk
March 23rd, 2015 @ 11:41 am
OK, but, just as a rose by any other name is just as sweet, a crushed/ground stone lizard queen by any other name is just as desirable.
March 23rd, 2015 @ 12:17 pm
We order crushed stone by size. Say…#57 stone for French drains and as a base for a slab pour. When we want stone for road base, we ask for “crush and run” or road bond.

March 23rd, 2015 @ 12:34 pm
She wouldn’t perk if she were an an entire bed of gravel.
March 23rd, 2015 @ 12:37 pm
Sure. You can repeat that all through the election. It won’t stop anyone from getting on the ballot, but maybe you can call it a moral victory.
March 23rd, 2015 @ 3:14 pm
I’ll be honest: I’m not a Cruz fan. He has permanent smug-face. Maybe it isn’t his fault, but I can’t help my reaction.

Where do these idiot memes get started? Jindal was born in Louisiana, Rubio was born in Florida, and Cruz was born in Alberta to an American mother. The citizenship of these men has likely never been questioned by anyone but combox yakkers, just as my father’s citizenship was never questioned (he having been born abroad to American president).
March 23rd, 2015 @ 6:59 pm
to American parents.
March 23rd, 2015 @ 7:00 pm
Cruz is not suitable for the Presidency (due to a deficit of administrative experience and excess youth). We’d be better off with him in Congress.
March 23rd, 2015 @ 7:24 pm
You’d better be using Marine Limestone, rather than the junk we had in SE Ohio.
Down east in NC, You won’t find any Limestone, that I know of, which is why he’s using Granite. 8KSI can be obtained with Granite and it’s all he has to work with.
I’m aware of the difference between gravel and “stone.” Colloquially, it’s all gravel. š
March 23rd, 2015 @ 7:25 pm
Otherwise known as ABC in NCDOT, “301” (after the spec book section) in Ohio. It’s not really crusher run, though. It does have a gradation spec, and crusher run doesn’t. Crusher run is simply what comes out of the crusher.

March 23rd, 2015 @ 10:56 pm
Wow! Now I just want to punch you in the face. You’ve been looking at the 0v0mit for too long and projecting that onto a real person named Ted Cruz. Please increase your Thorazine.
March 24th, 2015 @ 12:01 am
Art Deco is a regular commenter with a fully-formed, idiosyncratic set of beliefs that intersect with other commenters at some points and not at others. I don’t always agree with him, but I have never questioned his intelligence or sincerity. Not a troll.
March 24th, 2015 @ 12:11 am
Well, it did change it’s argument radically. If you look later on the thread it goes for birtherism, but not here. So, which is it? Is it a birther or a lefty troll. There’s really not room for both given the nature of the arguments. A birther can attack Cruz on policy, but those attacks include the birther angle. Like I said, either/or. Credibility, fail.
March 24th, 2015 @ 12:13 am
Also, I like that you stuck up for it, although you may be a sock puppet. Who knows? I just got finished watching an episode of The Honourable Woman, I’m not sure I trust me just now.
š
March 24th, 2015 @ 12:29 am
Art was standing up against birtherism, defending Cruz’s eligibility to run. He just doesn’t support Cruz for that position.
March 24th, 2015 @ 1:21 am
I apologize. I made a misjudgment.
I was being my usual provocative self, expecting it to stay within the bounds of friends; but now that a candidate has announced, everything has changed.
Primary season is upon us — already!! — and there are bound to be internal disagreements, but they will not stay internal. I have some ideas for how to deal with that, but they’re for another thread.
March 24th, 2015 @ 5:23 am
Heh. It’s like having creaky floorboards.
March 24th, 2015 @ 8:06 am
I believe you have misread the trolls posts. The troll is birther and an anti-Conservative. It is welcome to both positions, but is a hypocrite for holding both. As I said before, pick. Either way, no one will have standing and if he is nominated, the birthers will lose again, as they should. You’re welcome to a different view.
March 24th, 2015 @ 9:14 am
me: “Unfortunately, Ted Cruz (and Bobby Jindal and Marco Rubio) is no more a *natural born* US citizen, as required by the US Constitution, than is #OccupyResoluteDesk”
?
K-Bob: “Sure. You can repeat that all through the election. It won’t stop anyone from getting on the ballot, but maybe you can call it a moral victory.”
?
get2djnow: “Thanks for saving me the trouble.”
?
K-Bob: “Heh. It’s like having creaky floorboards.”
?
And here we see why the American Republic is doomed — because next to no one actually cares about understanding the Constitution, much less abiding by it; and far too many ostensible conservatives are distinguishable from the soft-leftists we call “liberals” only with regard to the manner in which they wish to disregard the Constitution.
?
Art Deco: “Where do these idiot memes get started? Jindal was born in Louisiana, Rubio was born in Florida, and Cruz was born in Alberta to an American mother. The citizenship of these men has likely never been questioned by anyone but combox yakkers, just as my father’s citizenship was never questioned (he having been born abroad to American president).”
?
Where do these idiots come from?
?
No one said anything about whether Cruz or Jindal or Rubio are US citizens. The issue is whether they are natural born US citizens. And the answer is that they are not, nor can they ever be; just as Obama is not and never can be (even if he is a US citizen in the first place, which no one knows, in any event).
?
Our Host’s Crazy Cousin John was not born on US soil, but he is a natural born US citizen. Bobby Jindal and Marco Rubio both were born on US soil, but they are not natural born US citizens. Ted Cruz was was not born on US soil, and he is not a natural born US citizen. Barack Obama was born … no one knows where, nor seems to care … yet, we still can know that he is not a natural born US citizen.
?
So, what’s the difference, since it clearly has nothing to do with *where* one is born? The difference is that while the Crazy Cousin was born overseas, he was born to parents both of whom were US citizens at the time of his birth, whereas when the other four men were born, whether on US soil or not, their fathers (*), and for some of them, their mothers, were not US citizens at the time of their births.
?
Similarly, George Washington was not a natural born US citizen, despite being unquestionably an American, and born in America, and the very model of the US citizen — which is why the Constitution says: “No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; …”
?
(*) Which, constitutionally speaking, may perhaps be the controlling factor.
March 24th, 2015 @ 11:01 am
My irrational visceral reaction to Cruz is that he doesn’t look like a man … he looks like a weepy girl. Still, it’s not that that would keep me from voting for him, but rather the fact that he’s not Constitutionally eligible.
March 24th, 2015 @ 11:26 am
They are natural born citizens according to settled law and custom. You fancy you know better. You do not.
March 24th, 2015 @ 11:35 am
No clue how you derived that from my exchange with ‘Ilion’. Ilion is maintaining that jus solis does not apply to the children of immigrant settlers whose residence is according to law and that jus sanguinis does not apply. Both are false, but they’ve been trotted out by combox denizens again and again re Obama and McCain.
My complaint about Cruz concerns his employment history. He’s a lawyer and a legislator with no background in public or business administration. (Among other things, I had the same complaint about BO). I have the same complaint about Sen. Santorum. He’s also rather green in Congress. I also prefer older men in the Presidency, so someone of Perry and Huckabee’s vintage is (ceteris paribus) preferred over one of Walker’s or Jindal’s.
March 24th, 2015 @ 11:41 am
Both grandfathers had the sense to stay out of electoral politics.
March 24th, 2015 @ 11:42 am
No, he’s eligible. You maintain the fiction he is not to please yourself.
March 24th, 2015 @ 3:13 pm
Your complaint can only be overcome by Sen. Cruz and the field of candidates running for the GOP nomination. I don’t believe he would tell you that running a campaign will prove that he’s qualified for the position, however, if his ideas and arguments for them leave him as the clear choice, I’m not going to hold against him any lack of administrative acumen. That was not the problem with any previous president, in the modern era (after WWII) of which I’m aware. In fact, THANK GOD the 0v0mit only knows how to alienate his own legislative allies, had this disgusting, anti-American, Marxist radical had more administrative bona fides we would be in much worse shape.
March 24th, 2015 @ 6:55 pm
That was not the problem with any previous president, in the modern era (after WWII) of which I’m aware.
It was a problem with Lyndon Johnson and Richard Nixon and has been a problem in spades with the current incumbent.
March 24th, 2015 @ 7:43 pm
Just stick to your guns. Unless you’re one of those anti-2A Commies.
March 24th, 2015 @ 7:44 pm
I’ll say that he’s not really an attractive man. But as an ugly creep myself, I’m OK with that.
March 25th, 2015 @ 9:19 am
Lyndon Johnson wasn’t elected to the Presidency, but if you wanted to complain about Kennedy, be my guest, I’m sure that won’t enamor you to your lefty friends. While I was never a fan of Nixon, you’d be hard pressed to show where his lack of executive experience ruined him. Nixon knew how to treat foreign governments and how not to interfere with the working of the bureaucracy.
So there you go, it was a problem with two Presidents: Kennedy and the 0v0mit. Of course I agree that teh 0ne is completely lacking the credentials to be a POTUS. And after all this time 0v0mit has learned nothing and remembered nothing. What a destructive POS.
March 25th, 2015 @ 10:39 am
Bill Clinton is an attractive man (*) — which is the main reason so many women voted for him — but who in his right minds wants to *be* Bill Clinton … or to vote for him?
?
(*) and one wonders: how did a man that attractive have a daughter that ugly
March 25th, 2015 @ 1:19 pm
While I was never a fan of Nixon, you’d be hard pressed to show where his lack of executive experience ruined him.
Read both John Dean’s memoirs and Richard Nathan’s book on The Administrative Presidency. Nixon was a wretched administrator. His personnel selection methods were terrible (and it showed), he was severely inhibited re meeting people face to face and relied on H.R. Haldeman, isolating himself. At meetings, Nixon would work from scripts rather than interact with his subordinates, and he had an allergy to people who spoke plainly (e.g. Spiro Agnew). He had strange emotional outbursts, and his staff had to parse whether to carry out instructions or to sit tight until he thought better of it.
March 25th, 2015 @ 1:49 pm
Dean is a convicted felonious hack who despises every Republican.
Richard P. Nathan is at the very least a RINO hack, if not a leftard, who worked at Brookings and for a demoncrap administration at OMB.
It’s too much work to deal with your BS. You’re arguments can’t stand the light of day. All the best to you.
