Glenn Beck for President?

It’s not an idea that ever crossed my overwhelmingly white mind, but such a possibility is explored at length by Michael at Jumping in Pools.

    I surely hope not.

Don’t get me wrong. I like Beck for what he is, and for what he does. But I cannot see that emotional of an approach translating well into the Oval Office.

It’s pretty much the total inverse of the “detached and cerebral” thing we have now, but it’s just as far removed from what we need in that position.

Beck goes on a bit too long. While I wouldn’t expect him to do the Castro or Chavez thing and go on for hours at a time, he would go on for too long.

For the record, I’m not comparing Beck to Castro or Chavez in any respect other than the tendency to keep talking for longer than is necessary on some subjects. But that part wouldn’t wear well, with me.

The value of the notion is mostly in making Lefty heads ‘splode, I should think.
Beck’s done a lot of great research, and his seminar style radio/TV work is an invaluable piece of the overall recovery, but. . .Presidential timber?
Let go of the modesty, Stacy. We need you in the Oval before Glenn. We’ll give you Insty for VP.

    Uh, no.

Love him on TV. The rally was great, that is where he belongs.

As Michael Moynihan has observed, Beck appears at times to be teaching history while still learning history. He has the infectious enthusiasm of someone who’s very excited by his latest “discovery,” and that makes for good TV, especially considering that the vast majority of Americans are victims of the public education system and thus know next to nothing about history.

No, that would never do. As I explained in early 2008, no one named “McCain” is ever going to be elected president. So far, I’m batting a thousand on that prediction. Maybe one of my numerous children will prove me wrong, in which case the annual Fourth of July fireworks on the Mall in D.C. will be outdone by the “amateur” show I’ll light off from the West Lawn.

I’d never considered the Exploding leftoid head factor, actually. I think I’m seeing a plan come together here.

    1. Buy Depends stock.

    2. Promote Beck for President, causing massive ‘splodey heads and incontinence among progressives.

    3. PROFIT!

(As long as Beck doesn’t take the idea to heart, it sounds like an awesome plan to me.)

Please no. Yes, the splodey progressive head syndrome is very pleasant to dwell upon. But Beck would be a disaster as President.

    No. Definitely no. No.

And I suspect Beck would be the first to say that.

Notice how the fat racist tea bagger people leave the mall compared to those green liberal eco-friendly Obama folks. Crazy.
