Wake Up, GOP!

“It’s very simple. If you want our money, you have to espouse our beliefs. I’m not going to part with my dollars so you can direct them to Dede Scozzafava’s campaign in New York. Instead, I’ll drop $20 to a candidate I know needs the money and shares my values.”

I agree. I haven’t sent a nickel to the RNC since 2007 or 2008. I have sent directly to candidates that I support: DeMint, Hoffman, Brown, Angle, and even……gasp……Sarah Palin.

The RNC doesn’t get it and as a consequence they are getting very little of it. The New York republican machine has done it again. This time selecting Bruce Blakeman to be the republican standard bearer against a very weak Kirstin Gillibrand.
There is a great candidate for Senate in New York named Joe DioGuardi. He is the Conservative party candidate and submitted over 25k petition signatures to the state board of elections to qualify to be on the republican ballot this fall. He is a CPA and fiscal conservative. He won two terms of Congress in a democrat district. He is remarkably adept with foreign policy and plays an interesting role in the Balkan war. And did I mention his daughter is none other than Kara DioGuardi, of American Idol fame.

The sad truth is the candidates need the rnc to be well funded. There are many things that the RNC pays for.
I agree that they have not paid attention to the base, but I still give money every year.
The candidates can’t afford get out the vote drives, the party pays for that. We need to get more involved at the local level within the party, then it will change. Volunteer folks.

It’s too late for the RNC this election. If we win it will be instead of and in spite of them. These Washington Whigs haven’t figured it out yet and will probably have to be pruned.

When the RNC starts living by conservative values again, they can have my money.
Until then, they can go pound a bag of wet sand up their asses, sideways.
I’ll donate directly in the meantime.

Are you f*ukin’ kidding me?
Duane Lester’s article references just two high profile conservative candidates–Michelle Bachmann and Joe Wilson–as evidence supporting the bold headliner, so i guess the use of plural is justified.
Btw, Its not as if Bachmann and Wilson’s longshot opponents, Tarryl Clark* and Rob Miller* are not raking in huge amounts of individual donor cash themselves even though the DNC is no way in the same gutter state as the RNC.
*Clark is matching Bachmann with huge grassroots support despite her high profile Texas dinners and joint Palin fund-raisers
*Miller has raised over a million on progressive grassroots online site, ActBlue alone with over 25,000 donors

Actually, it mentions three. I also noted Mike Pence, who has brought in over a million.
I could have mentioned Tom Price as well. $1.65 million.
Or Joe Barton. $1.66 million.
While the RNC bemoans only having $5 million, the “two high profile conservative candidates–Michelle Bachmann and Joe Wilson–” have over $8 million between them. And as you said, that’s just two candidates.
But the point is that people aren’t giving to groups like the RNC because they don’t trust them as much as they do individual conservatives.

The RNC, RSCC, and RCCC have all forfeited any right to trust with their allocations in the recent past. Give to the candidates you most support, and let the party find some corporate teat to suck.

I stand corrected. But anything less than a 2 million is no big deal and still won’t make it millions raised by an individual candidate.
But if you consider the individual contributions to the Pence champagne, its still way less than a million.
His individual contributions make up only 30% of the total. His low profile opponents PAC contributions: ZERO.
I can come up with many Dem congress candidates who raised over 2 million with at least 80% individual donor money. But i am not writing a blog post to make a point.
The LARGER point remains that the current Dem candidates in the House have raised about 0.75 million on average, while teh current GOP candidates raised only about 0.50 million each on average. Cash on hands? Ds have TWICE what the Rs have (Half a million vs. quarter million apprx.) Individual donations? Dems raised 400,000 on average to Repbus’ $300,000.
The fact that RNC isn’t getting any individual donor money is not being reflected in the expected fund raising boost (assuming your point is true) to the individual conservatives. So your point remains weak.
The only thing i can conclude from the evidence so far is that RNC is in dire straits while the individual conservative candidates are in much better state. The argument that the RNC’s woes translate into more contributions to individual conservatives remains weakly supported (if not contradicted) by the overall facts on the ground.
