Going to California

Leaving today on a non-stop flight and I’ll be there by supper Pacific time. If you don’t remember my friend Ladd Ehlinger Jr., you’ll remember the World Greatest Campaign Ad he did for Dale Peterson. Ladd’s doing some work in California now — kind of top secret — and wants me to come hang out with him for a few days. Contributions to the Shoe Leather Fund will be appreciated. Readers in the L.A. area should get in touch, as we’ll be having a blogger get-together Saturday in Santa Monica.

    Hey! My guys are on their way to LA today too! They’re going to the QotSA and EODM benefit show for EODM bassist Brian O’Connor at Club Nokia tonight.

    Little known fact: Jesse “Boots Electric” Hughes is a big Alan Keyes fan, and hates Obama and his filthy communism:

    Communist. Or, bad idea.

    Wow. Why?

    You watch, baby. They said it wouldn’t be the truth about Bill Clinton, and it turned out to be true.

    Obama has no practical experience whatsoever in the executive [branch]. Not even from a philosophical point of view, just in terms of whether he’s going to be prepared for this job. It is going to be a shithouse nightmare. Dealing with the office of presidency ain’t no small walk in the park. You’re managing the entire fucking nation with affairs in 50 independent countries.

    Did you vote?

    Of course I did.

    Did you vote for [Republican presidential nominee John] McCain? Is that my business?

    I voted for Alan Keyes. I felt like it was a wasted vote, and maybe I did my hand in getting Obama elected, but I still had to vote my conscience.

    I couldn’t vote for McCain, but I could vote for Alan Keyes. He’s a black dude who wants to eliminate everything. That is rad.
