Trump Trolls His ‘Christian’ Chumps

Hot Air has the audio clip. It’s a relatively obvious troll. It underscores the notions that either (a) Trump isn’t even slightly serious about the job for which he’s purportedly campaigning, or (b) if there is a serious bone in his body, it’s dislocated from any real competence.
I’m actively curious as to how anyone with even the tiniest bit of ‘Evangelical’ leaning could possibly support Trump. If you want to study a religion that cleaves closer to Hammurabi, as Trump appears to do here, have a glance at what Islam teaches.
Trump’s favorite Bible teaching: “An eye for an eye,” of course https://t.co/04kcOcbI2a
An eye. Foreign eye. #BegoneTrump

Also, you were a left-libertarian Democrat in 2008? I don’t know what to say about that. I’m surprised. Hard for me to conceive of, I suppose considering I’ve spent the vast majority of my life in the most Republican stronghold in FL. It’s hard for me to imagine even personally knowing a Democrat. It’s like living in TX in the middle of FL, lol.

You’re really reaching, QM.
I’d vote for Cruz in the general election without qualms.
You lost. Get over it.
April 17th, 2016 @ 8:03 pm
Disagreeing agreeably….the whole point I’ve been beating like a dead mule. Yes. Thank you.
I’m for Trump as Prez and Cruz as VP.
I think Trump has a greater ability to break through the log jams, and he did step up first on issues like immigration. Also, the wide array of Trump antis makes one support him….if Hillary, Boehner, McConnell all agree he’s a bad, bad man….that means he might be good. Also, he’s a useful weapon to beat the RNC about the head with. He potentially has what Reagan had and Palin has…the ability to smash the system of the Left, not just slow losses or painfully gained victories, but huge victories.
As to him betraying us…..you mean he’d act like every other politician for the last twenty years. Door one has a tiger behind it. Door two may have a tiger behind it.
As for your offer to talk reasonably if only we agree with every point you make, um no. You will have to manage or not manage to be reasonable on your own.
April 17th, 2016 @ 10:34 pm
You said: “As for your offer to talk reasonably if only we agree with every point you make, um no.”
Are we reading the same stuff here? From the same blog post? Because once again, I have no idea what you’re talking about.
April 17th, 2016 @ 10:38 pm
Can’t argue any of that.
April 18th, 2016 @ 4:37 am
Doesn’t mean you’re not a Trumpkin. You’ve already given yourself away on that one.
April 18th, 2016 @ 6:32 am
I’m not sure you understand any man’s soul. People have enough problems understanding themselves. When I was a very young boy my mother stood by my bedside and we recited a prayer. It ended with this plea: “Lord let me know myself, but above all let me know you. Amen.” My mother died many years ago but in my 70s I still recite that prayer.
My brand of Christianity acknowledges that I am a sinner; the sermon on the mount is an aspiration, but I know myself well enough that I know I cannot achieve it. That is why I need salvation.
Neither you not I know if he has repented of his affairs or if his divorces were groundless. But feel free to judge; so many Christians feel the need. For myself, my sins are enough for me to repent and whenever I get too judgmental I read Matthew verses 1-5.
Trump’s relationship to Christ is not my business. I’m hoping to vote for the person who will do the best for the country, God willing – or will do the least harm. There are several choices and Cruz was among my first choices. He spoke all the right words and visited all the right venues. Now I find myself put off by his piety and willingness to work with the republican establishment to gain the nomination. And, frankly, the people who support him make me believe that he may well be the Bible’s “wolf in sheep’s clothing.”
I am reminded of the old saying “the more he spoke of his honor, the faster we counted our spoons.”
Thanks for the discussion. I hope that Smitty & McCain appreciate the hits that this post has gotten. It’s almost as many as his links to naked women.
April 18th, 2016 @ 6:38 am
I get confused easily. One Cruz supporter tells me that Trump’s not a Christian so we can’t vote for him. Another tells me that being a really good Christian has nothing to do with being President. And then he tells me that Trump’s personal life means that he’s a bad character. Yet his wives like him and his children honor him. So confusing.
April 18th, 2016 @ 6:39 am
Well put.
April 18th, 2016 @ 6:46 am
Apologies…I actually got that about 4 hours later. I guess I’m running on Pacific Coast Time…
April 18th, 2016 @ 6:49 am
I already voted for Trump. So?
April 18th, 2016 @ 6:53 am
I got it from this, but that doesn’t say what I thought it did.
Well maybe.
====Frankly, if these followers wanted to admit, yes, the man is a pathological liar, he’s not a Christian, and we know that as a liar and loudmouth, he’s very, very unlikely to keep any campaign promise he makes, but I still support him, then ok
April 18th, 2016 @ 8:36 am
You think Smitty hurled “vehement insults” at Trump? What am I missing? Also, as a vet, I kinda think Smitty gets some latitude in his opinions of a guy who called American servicemen in Vietnamese POW camps, ‘losers.’ Also, the Republican Party can screw itself into the ground as far as I’m concerned. They lost me when they forced Mittens on us. I actually feel sorry for Trump and Cruz vying to lead the bloated rotting corpse that the establishment R’s created when they banished social conservatives to the shut-up and vote as you’re told” section of the party. So maybe I’m in my own “bubble” as you put it, but I didn’t leave the party. It left me.
I’d give you credit for your point about insults, except who is it that habitually insults anyone who isn’t him? He compared one opponent to a child molester, habitually calls another a “liar” and another “small, little, tiny…”
Also, calling Trump names is not calling you names. Smitty saying that he’s “curious” is not an insult. It’s an opportunity for evangelical Trump supporters to engage and explain. …and what do they do?
Actually, what Smitty wrote indicates that he has a higher opinion of evangelicals than I do.
April 18th, 2016 @ 9:47 am
I voted for Virgil Goode of the Constitution Party rather than Romney. And yeah, that was where the GOP lost me. Agree on the ‘socons are useful slaves’ mentality the RNC displays.
April 18th, 2016 @ 10:22 am
Politics in general is off-putting. Being on Twitter for any length of time is like listening to a nursery-school shouting match. Every utterance between Trumpkins and their opponents turns everything – including credulity – up to 11. I find it hilarious when they then claim that someone else is being offensive.
April 18th, 2016 @ 11:11 am
“I get confused easily.” There’s your problem. Try going by facts and not anecdotal accounts of why some people may or not be followers. If I treated the subject as you do, I’d be quoting Trump’s white supremacist supporters.
If “fact” is as unfamiliar to you as the Bible appears to be, I could look it up for you?
BTW, have you seen the latest story on Trump’s history of misogyny? Reads like a police blotter on sexual harassment. Not that any self respecting Democrat would use that material in a general election!
What am I saying! When was the last time you met a self respecting Democrat?
Oh, and if you still have trouble fathoming what a “Biblical precept” is, please don’t read the part where the Bible quotes Satan tempting Christ. I know you’re “easily confused”!
April 18th, 2016 @ 12:26 pm
You’re not looking for a discussion anyway. You’re only looking to repeatedly bludgeon people into agreeing with you. So you’re one to talk. You need to just stop talking to me.
April 18th, 2016 @ 2:04 pm
I gently bludgeoned people to get them off the ridiculous ‘Trumpkins are a bunch of meanies unlike us heroic Cruzites’ nonsense.
I’m the one who’d like a dicussion, but its hard to have one when someone starts ‘So Infidel, betrayer of your Faith, I’m curious why you’re such an all-fired dupe and chump?”.
But your mind is made up. Don’t let me confuse you with the facts.
April 18th, 2016 @ 2:05 pm
Trump has all but said that he has never asked forgiveness for sin. I can’t say he’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing, but I can say that the indication is he is not a Christian.
Matthew 7 is not about avoiding all judgment. We are called to be discerning, and that often means judging people.
April 18th, 2016 @ 9:42 pm
I was never curious about why you were a dupe. That was self-evident.
Honestly, I think some of the stuff Trump says is pretty lolsy, and if I was looking for an entertaining youtube to watch, I’d pick his. However, he’s unprofessional, and thus un-Presidential, and the more I heard, the more I realized that his campaign promises were unworkable, and kind of like unfinished thoughts. Like stuff you gripe about over beers with your buds.
There’s also stuff about Cruz I don’t like, too.
So. In the way I make all my non-arbitrary decisions, I ultimately use game theory to decide (even though I don’t care for Trump on a personal basis). I look at each option individually, and think about what is it that I don’t want, but am afraid I might get with that option. Then I evaluate the least rancid possibility when viewed in those terms. This method has always worked successfully for me, 100% of the time, and I’ve used it for decades, on and off the job.
Under these conditions, Cruz is the least rancid choice, imo. Somewhat. I’m not in love with him, like I was with Reagan, but the idea here is least rancid. (Trump would have come in ahead of Rubio for me, fyi.) Hillary is dead last for me, but Sanders is close (at least he doesn’t lie about what he is.)
So there you have it. I’m not in the least bit confused about facts. This is why I could get behind a Cruz presidency/Trump vice presidency.
And yet, I have heard no logical or critical thought process about why you are such a Trumpalo. All I’ve heard is emotionalism.
April 19th, 2016 @ 7:05 am
Two part analysis is a decent explanation for why to vote for Trump.
1.Going the right way?
2. Likelihood of accomplishing goals?
If you change your target from ‘least rancid’, a fine target, to ‘best chance of substantial good results’ you might find Trump in the lead.
April 19th, 2016 @ 4:30 pm
That’s not game theory, and that approach doesn’t work. For this decision making process to work, you have to view options through the lens of what you don’t want, but am afraid might happen. This has built-in risk management, is the thing.
I’m also skeptical of Trump being the “best chance of good results”. While it’s admittedly lolsy, I think he’s the best chance of alienating us from both our enemies (who cares) and our allies. Because he has diarrhea of the mouth and does not think things through. He sees the “headlines” without ever digging deeper, from what I’ve observed. In fact, I can’t point to a single thing he’s said on the campaign trail that demonstrates deep, thoughtful consideration. What I’ve observed him saying is simply what itching ears want to hear. Which is frightening.
