    Feminists refuse to say “Valentine’s Day.” So they use the term “V-Day” to refer to their anti-Valentine’s propaganda fest. But I never understood what feminists intended the “V” to mean when they say “V-Day.” Violence? Vagina?

    I seem to recall the “Hey, let’s make up an insufferable new cliché” for V-day came about right around the time that the now illegal Original version of Vagina Monologues started to appear on college campuses.
    It MAY have evolved alongside the clever substitution of “N-word” for nigger, but certainly WELL after the common usage of “C-word” for cunt.
    I can’t be bothered to do an actual annotated timeline of original references in print. (as this NEVER corresponds with actual usage at…say…wine and cheese art openings, backstage green room dialogues, or college lecture discussion groups)
