Rave Review for ’13 Hours’

John Nolte (@NolteNC) at Breitbart’s Big Hollywood:
Director Michael Bay’s riveting, heartbreaking, and infuriating “13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi” opens with five simple words: “This Is a True Story.” What it should have read was, “This Is a True Story The Media Has Covered Up For Years.”
God damn these people to Hell. . . .
Michael Bay — you know, the guy who makes those “Transformers” movies — just made a film critical of a sitting president’s foreign policy, and knocked it straight out of the park.
Bay’s “13 Hours” is not only a compelling, unbearably tense, brilliantly choreographed action film, but like a true artist, he does not stoop to being preachy or pedantic to make a damning case against a Obama Administration, that not only has a depraved indifference towards the truth, but also towards American lives. . . .
Read the whole thing. Nolte points out that 13 Hours is not a “political” movie. It’s a true-life action movie like Blackhawk Down (about an earlier Clinton-connected debacle) that allows viewers to draw their own conclusions about the policy which resulted in the action portrayed. What I hope is that the audiences who see 13 Hours will ask themselves, “What was the policy? Why was Ambassador Stevens in Benghazi? Why weren’t the American people told the truth, not only about the events of Sept. 11, 2012, but also about the covert State Department operations that led up to that disaster?”
The media know the truth — all of the essential facts have actually been reported — but the full story of incompetent Obama/Clinton policy blunders that led up to Benghazi, and which also resulted in the rise of ISIS, has never gotten the kind of sustained coverage that CNN typically devotes to “white cop kills teenage black criminal” stories.
Our national media have sold their souls to the Democrat Party. Their news coverage is determined by political calculations. The editors, producers and reporters are all Democrats who never miss an opportunity to promote partisan propaganda. They are hired liars.
John Nolte is exactly right: “God damn them all to Hell.”

Damn well put, Breeze.

It was an excellent movie. Not as good as American Sniper, but well worth going to see. It was long but seemed to go fast for me. This is one you want to see in the theater and you should go to help promote movies like this.

The media has not only become a venue for Dem Party talking points but to have adopted the weird paranoia of intersectionalism without a hint of awareness. The least thing a straight white male does is attributed to outright ideological malice, even if it’s some innocuous demographic spike like “white” Oscar nominees. The same is true for any gay or non-white killed, regardless of statistics. In other words the media has adopted the same in-group/out-group behaviors typical of supremacist and hate groups. Actual statistics or demographics are outright lied about others buried under see-no-evil, hear-no-evil, speak-no-evil attitudes. Investigative journalism seems dead. ESPN is willing to do an in-depth piece on hookers presented to college basketball teams but not on the extortion scheme recently played out against the U of Missouri football team. Who on that team knew the two activists who started that whole fakery? Where are their text messages and phone records? The entire black group of football players by coincidence sided with BLM not knowing the 1 million dollar penalty for forfeiting a game trumped the U president’s salary by 3 times? What happened in Cologne? What didn’t happen at the U of VA? Ask a journalist and you’ll hear the exact opposite of the truth.

Yeah, right.
“What difference, at this point, does it make?” asks Hillary, and her supporters cheered at her putting those mean sexist racist Republicans in their place. There were high fives across the Internet from the same people that think her illegal private mail server was a “badass move.”
I agree with God damn them all to Hell, but realistically, far too many of the electorate are tired of hearing about this partisan witch hunt, just as you could sense these same types resented Mary Joe Kopechne for inconsiderately interfering with Ted Kennedy’s destiny. Who cares how many die so long as the mass of Dem voters get the EBT cards on time?

This is truth in what you say. The problem is, the masses fail to realize that with Progressives, they have value only so long as they are useful. The masses are easily disposed of when it’s necessary to maintain Leftist/Progressive Power.
Inner city blacks in Chicago can shoot themselves all they wish. They are not useful for the Progressive agenda, so they are ignored. Ditto gang rapes in Europe. See also, Wal-Mart reneging on building stores in D.C. because of the Progressive desire to punish the retailer with higher minimum wages, mandatory minimum hours for all workers and special contribution to fund Family and Medical Leave for all employees, thereby destroying jobs and eliminating shopping opportunities for lower income people.
Benghazi is a metaphor for the Progressive/Leftist method of governance. The CIA contractors who defied orders to attempt a rescue didn’t play along with the script by a) doing the right thing and b) not having the decency to take their stories to the graves with them. The MSM can hide this stuff; the masses can ignore it in favor of bread and circuses. But make no mistake. There will be a reckoning.

The problem is that all these “investigations” are wasting taxpayers’ money unless the people being investigated go to jail.
Investigate a republican, they generally go to jail or at the very least, lose their seat in Congress.
Investigate a democrat and it’s a “witch hunt”, the proceedings go on forever and no one loses their seat or goes to jail.

I may have to disagree with you here. I thought American Sniper was a great movie and 13 Hours may be equally as good. (Plus, no fake babies!)
January 16th, 2016 @ 10:23 pm
It’s a great movie and worth seeing first run in the theater. One, it shows support for the kind of movies that need to be made, and two, it will keep you from kicking yourself for not seeing it sooner!
January 16th, 2016 @ 11:51 pm
Yeah, no fake babies, just a real one named “Bob” in charge of that CIA station.
I do not want to give Michael Bay too much criticism (I think he did a very good job, and it is his best movie) but Clint Eastwood did a better job with American Sniper. I recognize Bay was trying to capture the confusion of the events (and he did do that), but the movie could have flowed better. Ultimately my criticism is stylistic not substantive, both movies were excellent.

In my review of the movie, “Bob”, is portrayed as a snot nosed, condescending, officious prick who
treats his security detail, mostly former Navy SEALS, as rent-a-cops…

Welcome to the post-postmodern world, where truth is ambiguous and subjective, and where The Narrative is all that matters.

Investigations need to be performed using anal probes. Also, I thought Trey Gowdy was supposed to be a badass, but what’s he done for us lately?

“Our national media have sold their souls to the Democrat Party”
I think more like they gave it away like the whores that they are.
The main regret is that in doing so they’re responsible for a lot of others being put through hell and the country ruined. Perhaps for ever.

Remember when the Academy failed to declare Brokeback Mountain the Bestest Movie EVAHHH!!!?
And then they claimed it was because you and I are homophobes.

Gowdy is GOPe. He’s not going to do much other than create a bunch of sound and smoke.

The way to respond to crap like complaining that the Oscar nominees are all white is to ask them “Okay, what black person do you think was more worthy of a nomination?” 90 percent of the time this will result in vague dissembling on their part.

The CIA claimed that the movie was false, saying that there was never a ‘stand down’ order given. We can’t know that there was never such an order, but we do know that the Obama Administration, with Barack Obama, Leon Panetta, Hillary Clinton and David Petreaus directly involved, never gave an order to get any forces moving into position where they might have done something. If you have the power to do something, and choose not to do it, you have taken an action as surely as if you had done something.

Reckon he lied just like the rest of them. Or else he’s just being a pragmatist…meaning, show me the money.

The left have finally had their say with their reviews and for the most part it is total denial. I suppose given that Michael Bay has directed it, they’ve filed it in the fiction section along with Pearl Harbor (which, of course, never happened).
