Our Moral Superiors™

Liberal intellectuals are convinced that the rest of us are so stupid we need them to tell us what to think. Their narcissism manifests itself as a contempt for the common sense of ordinary Americans, an attitude Thomas Sowell analyzed in The Vision of the Anointed: Self-Congratulation as a Basis for Social Policy. What inspires the Left’s rage — the source of their constant accusations that ordinary Americans are racist, sexist homophobes — is simply that the Left expects the rest of us to accept their authority as Our Moral Superiors™ and they become angry when we refuse to do so. The children of privilege spend Daddy’s money to get an Ivy League diploma and how dare you fail to acknowledge their right to tell you how to live?

However, the intellectual class harbors so many lunatics, perverts and criminals that one suspects the faculty hiring process systematically excludes decent and honest people from academic employment. The psychotic Professor Hugo Schwyzer’s 2013 meltdown was just the tip of an iceberg of degenerate madness in academia. Walter Lee Williams, whose works include Overcoming Heterosexism and Homophobia, was “an eminent professor of gender and sexuality studies” at the University of Southern California before he pleaded guilty in federal court to traveling the world to pursue sex with boys as young as 9. Columbia University political science Professor David Epstein copped a plea bargain for having incest with his daughter. Rutgers University Professor Anna Stubblefield was convicted of sexually molesting a mentally disabled man. Lehigh University Professor Yujie Ding was convicted of federal fraud charges, and Florida State University Professor James Doran was convicted of embezzlement. One could make a long list of university faculty — Professor Alyssa Azotea (psychology, Simmons College), Professor Michael Dean Stroup (economics, Stephen F. Austin State University), Professor James Francis Quinn (criminology, University of North Texas), Professor Douglas Paul Dohrman (health science, Texas A&M University), Professor Christopher DeZutter (chemistry, University of Minnesota-Rochester), Professor Noel Campbell (business, University of Central Arkansas), Professor Kevin Sullivan (public health, Emory University), Professor Amol Kharabe (business, Ohio University), Professor J. Martin Favor (African American studies, Dartmouth College), to name just a few recent cases — arrested on child pornography charges. The FBI says self-described “boy lover” Professor James Cavalcoli used the Internet in his attempt to meet a minor for sex. And, of course, there was University of Georgia Professor Max Reinhart, who was charged with prostitution for peddling himself online as a transvestite named “Sasha.”

Meanwhile, the intellectuals have decided to mess with Texas:

Chanting, “Gun-free UT. Make it safe for you and me,” and, “Guns are not a teaching tool. They do not belong in school,” more than 200 attendees at the Modern Language Association’s annual meeting marched to the Texas Capitol Friday to protest the state’s new “campus carry” law.
The law, which will take effect this year, allows guns into public college classrooms and dormitories — much to the anger of many professors at Texas and elsewhere. . . .
Roland Greene, a professor of English and comparative literature at Stanford University and president of the MLA, said the association wanted Texas faculty members to know that “we stand with you.” . . .
The MLA is one of 29 scholarly associations that have jointly condemned the campus carry law.

(Hat-tip: Instapundit.) What the MLA is saying is that Texans are so manifestly unfit to govern themselves that they need literature professors to dictate their laws to them. Does anyone really think the average Ph.D. in English is so superior to the average Texan that a Stanford literature professor (author of such books as Five Words: Critical Semantics in the Age of Shakespeare and Cervantes) has the authority to tell Texans what to do? Good luck with that, buddy.

Those corrupt proglibs are probably only in their respective fields so they can normalize and excuse their debauchery. They might not consciously do it, but it makes sense when you think about it. Because if you’re a teacher or a doctor, you must be benevolent, right?

It’s past time to take a page from the left. If conservative professors are grossly under represented, that is ipso facto evidence for discrimination and Title IX type measures are in order. When the left says that the government should force every workplace to “look like America”, the right should apply that to the university coursework. I doubt if 50 percent of taxpayers would be in favor if “gender and sex studies” majors being supported by taxpayer dollars. It’s time to make the college curriculum that takes any federal money to “look like America”.

Yep. Time to show the public how discriminatory and biased the Left really is.

To be fair, if these people had any intellectual integrity, not to mention human compassion, they would tally up the death toll their gun free zones have created and spontaneously combust in shame.

I would be willing to bet a substantial amount of money, that none of these worthies have ever known someone who has firearms nor have ever taken the time to go to actually learn about the things to which they object. Compare their undoubted reaction, however, to any conservative critique of, say, Piss Christ, who hasn’t taken the time to truly appreciate the significance of such . . .ahem. . .”art.”

What part of “Come and Take It” do these MLA professors not understand?

Having not studied the classics — it is the Modern Language Association, after all — they don’t comprehend the historical context, because they don’t understand that it’s a reference to molon labe.

Liberalism used to stand for a certain freedom of expression and eccentricity. People would act like wearing bell-bottoms and having long hair meant you were banging dead monkeys. When that little battle was finished people ditched the bell-bottoms and long hair; they’d made their point. But entering under the camouflage of “liberalism” came a horde of sociopaths and perverts. One didn’t dare question their “gender-bending” because it had been shown it was just a “freak flag” like bell-bottoms and long hair. But there is no end game to man-hatred masquerading as “equal rights” and writing books like Dworkin’s Woman Hating which was simply Dworkin being insane and lying. There is no end game to hating white people and pretending it’s still just “anti-Jim Crow.

There’s where we stand. Third Wave Feminism is a perfect one-stop-shopping network for hating whites, men and heterosexuals and Dems find them useful shock troops as voters to stay in power. The problem there is we would’ve surrendered WW II without firing a shot had these misfits and cowards been in power. In 200 years the invasion will be complete and perverts being thrown off building by the new Third World inhabitants will be exchanging shouts of “where’s my rights?” and “where’s my MacBook?”

That’s called a “slippery slope,” morons, and it’s what happens when you abandon principle in favor of race and sex and call it a “moral ethos.” It’s worshipping failure because failure cries like a baby and we must say “There, there, little man. You’ve had a busy misogynistic, homophobic, racist day.”

It is well to keep in mind that, since SWJs & Proggies… as a whole… lie about everything, when they act as if they are Our Moral Superiors™ it is because they are not!

The tantrums occur because, in their deepest inner-most self they know it! Everyone who has reared children, and many who have even sat/supervised them knows what I am saying is true.

Children will pretend something, or or pretend a permission to something, and if you steadfastly call them on it, the tantrums begin!

I’ve had childcen I was watching throw-down apocalyptic fits: hitting and kicking things, crying, jumping up and down or horizontal throwing their bodies up and down, and worse— all of it accompanied by throat-tearing screaming that could be clearly heard over a mile away! Literally a mile away; that’s the distance my spouse was when she heard it!

Luckily these these children were uncommon. And the incidents were even more scarce!

But tantrums should be expected from very young children, it’s part of emotional growth. Indeed, a child would be abnormal if he didn’t ever throw a tantrum while very young. Thankfully they grow out of it!

Emotionally, Progressives never grew out of the tantrum stage.

Progressives are emotionally stunted, they’ve never grown up b/c either they’ve been kept in an emotional “hothouse”– protected and shielded from everything and never allowed to be emotionally challenged– or they’ve be so damaged by life that they’ve reverted to an earlier emotional state. It seems that the former vastly outnumber the latter. In the latter case, original emotional growth seems to have never been very solid originally.

Progressives are authoritarian, lack real empathy, myopic, aggressively compulsive, ignorant of consequences, willful, selfish, obsessed w/signaling, obsessively self-conscious, vindictive, rude (unless they can make use of you), cruel, spoiling for adoration, and compulsive magical thinkers… in addition to a barge-load of other negative characteristics.

Comparing the above list w/very young children, you’d find a high congruence of characteristics.

[…] Great column by RS McCain.  He notes that the leftist academics (and the students they churn out, year after year) who set themselves up as our collective moral superiors, fit to pass judgment on all the failings they perceive among us, the unenlightened, are an odd lot to proclaim superiority over anyone.  He catalogs a partial list of academics convicted of grave crimes or guilty of bizarre public behavior just over the past couple of years.  Some of these individuals have (or had) a very wide public profile and wielded significant influence within academia.
