Tuition at Yale University is $47,600 and you would think, for that kind of money, they could provide decent mental health counseling for students, or maybe screen the applications to make sure they’re not admitting psychotics. Unfortunately, they seem to have an affirmative action quota for lunatics, including students so deluded they think they are “oppressed.” Some kind of absurd racial controversy erupted on the Yale campus, and a deranged student freaked out and started screaming obscenities at a dorm headmaster named Nicholas Christakis:

The conversation is at first tense but calm, but it escalates rapidly after a student accuses Christakis of creating an “unsafe space” at Yale.
“I did not-,” Christakis attempts to reply, but a student aggressively interjects.
“Be quiet!,” she screams. Then, voice quavering with emotion, she continues. “[In] your position as headmaster, it is your job to create a place of comfort and home for the students who live in Silliman.”
Christakis attempts to dissent, saying “No, I don’t agree with that,” unleashing a torrent of shrieks from the student.
“Then why the f–k did you accept the position? Who the f–k hired you?,” she cries, drowning out any attempt by Christakis to explain himself (Christakis never raises his voice, except to be heard by the crowd).
“You should step down! If that is what you think of being headmaster, you should step down! It is not about creating an intellectual space! It is not!”

If your kids are maniacs, just send ’em to Yale. For $47,600 a year, it’s cheaper than putting them in a psychiatric ward.

    50 years ago, I thought about going to Yale. Each year Vanderbilt has seems a better and better (but not perfect) choice.

    Liberalism has become one of the strangest cultural currents ever seen in America. It has changed its religion several times over the past 60 years and it increasingly seems as if it’s according to whichever one of them can most effectively destroy America.

    In this latest version, Third Wave Feminism, you have an insane cult of self-loathing and failure which relentlessly targets the Unholy Three of Western Civilization: men, whites and heterosexuals.

    In only a few decades, liberalism has made dystopian science fiction novels obsolete. When you have a cult which snaps its fingers rather than the more stress-inducing act of clapping and yet curses and yells at people without a problem, then there is nothing left to satirize.

    When you have a cult of “social justice” which occupies the same intellectual and philosophical space as the Nazi Party or the KKK, then bells are once again striking 13 in our new beer gardens. There is no longer a need of a warning literature, but one of solutions to warnings unheeded. God help this country, it’s going to need it.

    Now black football players at the U of Mizou are going on strike if the Prez isn’t fired. The whole “Legion of Black Collegians” is up in arms and having protests over some ginned up shit about “systemic oppression.” Apparently someone left a shit Swastika somewhere and cotton balls were put on the Black SU building. No one knows who did these things, but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t all white people at Mizou. I sincerely hope the football team goes on without them. What an odd and disturbing sight that would be: an all-white team. Can’t have that. The “Legion of White Collegians” had no comment, mostly because there isn’t one, and you can’t have that either anyway.

    For a second I was all excited that some blacks wised up and wanted to ace Barry, but then my hopes were dashed.

    I hope the football team goes on without them, too. The crybabies can go on “strike” and find out how cool the NFL thinks that is during a future draft, and why it’s not called the NSJWL.

    My experience of university, an undisclosed number of years ago, was anything but a safe place. The world today is doomed. These precious little snowflakes will self destruct and take everyone and everything, except 2nd amendment advocates, with them.

    FYI, it’s “MIZZOU.”

    There are over 35,000 students at the Columbia, MO campus. From what I can discern, it goes back to the Ferguson business and a group of students thought the university administration was insufficiently penitent. It would not surprise me if the latest incidents are either “false flag” fabrications or “townies” seeking to stir up some trouble.

    Alas, our football team is having a bit of an off year. Great defense; no offense. It’s doubtful their absence will make much of a difference at this point.

    What’s interesting is that Mizzou’s biggest historical rival has been the University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS–a town Missourians and William Quantrill burned to the ground in 1863 in revenge for Order Number 11. It’s the only college rivalry with origins in a real, live shooting war. (See, e.g. The Outlaw Josey Wales.) Until Mizzou joined the SEC, any game against KU was preceded by all manner of references to Civil War history. Nobody ever bitched about those.

    I attended a state college where I could live at home, paying what was at the time a full-time tuition that wouldn’t have bought me one credit hour per semester at an Ivy — and these days wouldn’t have covered the textbook for that one-credit course even at the state college.

    The degree is every bit as useless as its Ivy League counterpart might have been, but at least that revelation isn’t still costing me money today.

    It’s just another crying towel hoax. Two white guys say something and it becomes “white people” and “power structures.” It’s 2015 and having something like The Legion of Black Collegians is just plain creepy. I doubt I’d even talk to anyone in a group like that. They’re looking for something to bitch about and they’re finding it. I hope the 2/3 black team does walk out and the team lets them. No way they’re firing the prez over this.

    Mr. Christakis may be himself perfectly innocent. Institutions such as Yale have for decades been stoking the narcissism of cretinettes like the young woman lashing out at him. In general, they’ve earned it, and would earn a pink slip from the trustees if the trustees were not a collection of stupefied organization men unfit to supervise a chia pet.

    I am betting that student is majoring in “Woman’s studies” or some such nonsense. I do hope they get her name and her picture out. That should ensure she never gets a job, anywhere.

    I got my piece of paper from University of California. History. I didn’t go for a job, because I figured that’s what vocational schools were for, and unless you’re getting a business or STEM degree, or continuing in law or medicine, college is pretty much irrelevant to your later work history.

    However, that degree did qualify me for OCS, so that was good. And then when I left the Navy, having held a commission and a degree got me hired at a higher level than I would have otherwise. So there was some unanticipated benefit.

    Years later I spent over $20,000 in a vocational program, preparing to take the exams for a merchant marine deck officer’s license. Now that was money well spent, so far as return on investment goes. That is a valuable piece of paper!

    Clue to college administrators: Toss the little b###tards out of your school when they pull this crap. No exceptions. Publish their pictures and names and explain why they were expelled. You will be AMAZED at how quickly these antics stop.

    Who cares? The Mizzou football program is a mass of lose this year. They are irrelevant, as are the players. that the head coach has taken the black player’s side is, in my opinion, just the straw that broke the camel’s back. Fire the coach and pull the scholarships of the players.
    The best thing that could happen to college sports is to end off campus recruiting. Everyone should be a walk on.

    Perhaps I should say that, while we know how to respond, the problem is that we are so shocked by juvenile behavior from nominal adults that, by the time our brains assure us that, “Yes: this person really, truly, seriously IS acting like a screaming three year-old”, it’s too late to take action.

    This occurred to me, too. I can understand kids in, say, 1968 not wanting to be drafted for Jack and Lyndon’s Excellent Adventure. I’m really not sure why kids today seem to get so exercized over the possibility that somebody might wear a Halloween costume that could offend some hypothetical person of an unspecified race, color, gender, creed, &c.
