Reasons to Home School Your Kids

Are you a homophobe? I mean, do you sit around all day seething in rage, waiting for nightfall, so you can go out and terrorize some homosexuals? Of course not. You are not a hater and you have no irrational “phobia.” You are a decent law-abiding citizen, and not a violent menace to your fellow citizens. If it weren’t for the incessant lectures from gay activists who insist you are a hateful homophobe, you’d probably never think about the subject. But if you aren’t a hater . . . why not?

Did you go through a special anti-homophobia training program in school when you were a kid? No, of course not. You were taught to be polite to everyone and respect others. You are not a bully. You’re a nice person.

So you are a civilized person, and not a violent ruffian, yet you never had any specific lessons about not being a homophobe. Why then do public school teachers seem to think such lessons are necessary? In Conway Springs, Kansas, a middle school teacher decided his eighth-grade history students needed to see a film “that depicts a fictional world in which heterosexual children are bullied by homosexual classmates”:

The movie he showed his eighth-grade students last month portrays a heterosexual girl being raised in a dystopian society where homosexuality is the norm.

(The Women’s Studies department at Bryn Mawr College?)

The girl is bullied by classmates — to the indifference of several teachers and other adults — until she commits suicide.

Question: What does this have to do with history?

Do this teacher actually teach any history? What do the kids in Conway Springs Middle School know about history? I mean, can they name all the presidents in order, by memory? Do they know anything about the Missouri Compromise or the Spanish-America War or the election of 1948? If I were to say “Cross of Gold” to these kids, would they automatically shout, “William Jennings Bryan”?

I’m gonna guess, no, because they’re too busy learning the only lesson that really matters anymore: Don’t Hate the Gays.

Look: There is this thing called “the Internet,” and if any parent thinks their child needs to see “a dystopian society where homosexuality is the norm,” you could download the YouTube video.

In other words, this ridiculously didactic Don’t Hate the Gays propaganda film is just one click away for anybody who wants to see it, including your eighth-grader. So why do you think the public schools (paid for with your tax dollars) need to force kids to watch this stuff in class? Does it now occur to anyone, besides me, that public schools have stopped teaching facts — William Jennings Bryan, and all that — and instead are teaching attitudes? And don’t you see that the attitudes being taught in public schools are liberal attitudes, because all the teachers are liberals who vote for Democrats and they want to train your children to be liberals who vote Democrat, too.

The American public school system is corrupt. Public schools are a political indoctrination program operated by Democrat activists who pay dues to a teachers union that is one of the major funders of the Democrat Party. Why would any Republican parent let their children go anywhere near these kind of wicked and dishonest people?

By the way, William Jennings Bryan was a Democrat, and his “Cross of Gold” speech was an irresponsible and demagogic appeal to envy and economic ignorance. But those who don’t know history are doomed to repeat it, which probably explains why Barack Obama is president. And if your daughter decides to go to Bryn Mawr and major in Women’s Studies, don’t say I didn’t warn you.

I say decriminalize school truancy. Then when teachers start a unit like that the students say “see you next week” and take a break. Now school truancy is illegal, which smacks of violating their 6th amendment rights: punishment without a trial.

The students should just call in sick, like how public employees who can’t legally go on strike all come down with the “blue flu” all at once. Think of it as being allergic to leftist lies.

You miss the point. It’s about empathy, walking a mile in the other person’s shoes. “What if this happened to me?” It’s what Jesus taught. It is what He asks of us. I challenge you to watch the video through the eyes of Christ.

So you are a civilized person, and not a violent ruffian, yet you never had any specific lessons about not being a homophobe. Why then do public school teachers seem to think such lessons are necessary?

The government-run school system makes its decisions solely in support of its own interests, so any analysis of why “public school teachers” do any particular thing should focus on the interests of the teachers, their unions, and the educracy rather than any claimed need among their students. However, there is one other aspect of the matter that deserves attention.

Americans, despite the widespread distaste for homosexuality, have always been reasonably tolerant of homosexuals as long as they kept their private business to themselves. But what we have today is in your face homosexuality, which demands not merely tolerance but approval so complete that it verges on popular endorsement — and that, most Americans cannot abide.

As the homosexual activists have realized this, they’ve confronted two choices:
    1) Pull in their horns and return to public propriety; or:
    2) Counterattack.

They’ve chosen the latter, and have chosen the involuntary commitment of impressionable American youth to twelve years of largely pointless and profitless classroom incarceration at the hands of the State as their best avenue of attack.

Would those be the eyes of Christ who said, “Go and sin no more?” It is most definitely not about empathy for other human beings, a trait which is not dependent upon one’s private behavior. It is about seeking to normalize destructive behavior. It is about conflating “hatred” and “bullying” with Christian morality and expressions of same in order to destroy the latter.

Your very assertion that our host “misses the point” demonstrates that. His question is simply, what is the reason for this in a public school history class? What business does the public school system have indoctrinating children in this fashion? Your question presupposes that this is school’s job. If that’s true, who decides on the agenda and why? Had the teacher shown a film about Christ’s Sermon on the Mount as an exemplar of correct ethical behavior, would you be rushing to defend it? Somehow, I think not.

That quote supports what I said. If we tell a teenage girl who feels love for another girl her age that her love is “disgusting” and “vile” and “evil” we are tying a millstone around her neck that can mess her up for the rest of her life and poison her relationship with her heavenly Father. If divine justice were not tempered with mercy, then those of us telling the girl those damaging things would have millstones tied around our necks.

I saw a video where 3rd graders were being taught about white privilege by their white teacher. There were printed tests and one kid recited how it was easier for him to get a job, etc. Of course kids that age don’t have a clue. They were being indoctrinated. Where’s a cultural revolution when you need one? The long-haired Occupy Wall Street were like rednecks and Black Lives Matters must have an average I.Q. of 5.

A teenage girl in love with another teenage girl needs to be told her feelings are sinful and an abomination to the Lord, and that she ought to prayerfully repent and ask forgiveness. And she needs to be taught Jeremiah 17:10, and also 1 Corinthians 10:13. What are you saying should be done exactly, if not nipping sinful behavior in the bud?

And if I were to watch that video through the eyes of Christ, I would look into the heart of the videographer and see a propagandist’s attempt to normalize sinful behavior via the mind control of children.

Maybe it’s not your intention, but you sound far from God to me.

The funny thing there is the modern goofball feminism we’re facing today and which is enshrined as the default orthodoxy at a number of cultural expressions is strictly the world view of politicized lesbians and their hatred of men. The fact most people who’ve adopted this ideology have no idea of the origins of the ideology is a pitch perfect example of how hate speech is mainstreamed. People must think topics like rape culture, male privilege and cisnormativity have been there all along; they certainly act like Lincoln addressed these issues.

I don’t have kids. I think public schools are a mistake that so government can “control” society. Any alternative is better just because competition makes us better. And because I believe politicos and technocrats can’t be trusted.

As for the rest and especially if children’s homosexuality is a sin or not, I think that’s between the person and the Divine. It’s not up to a book or what’s said from behind the pulpit. Teach your children, but they will still choose for themselves.

I will say that shaming them might well teach them to hide their behavior, I really don’t think that’s healthy for kids or their parents.

But what do I know? I’m not a parent.

I often see this as a solution to a specific infraction — the families should just sit out. I used to think this was an option.

The problem is that if the students skip the 4 days the teacher runs this movie, they are still stuck for the other 168 days with the kind of teacher that would run this movie.

I see this when a teacher mistreats a student, also. I always wonder, where are the other parents? Are they o.k. with an adult mistreating a child, just as long as it’s not their child? Do they think the damage is that contained?

I agree that truancy is a bad concept and makes bad law, but I’m afraid I don’t think your fix will take care of the problem.

Biblical translators are not allowed to accurately translate certain passages that are used to clobber gay people, so the clobbering continues. Much of the laity still erroneously thinks the sin of Sodom was homosexuality. This information is available with a few clicks of a mouse. Please, check your assumptions with an open mind.

  38. Scott Baker
    November 9th, 2015 @ 11:29 pm

Biblical marriage allows me to have all the wives and concubines I can afford. Also the bible allows me to have slaves. Of course we know that slavery is wrong from reading between the lines in the bible even though a plain literal reading allows slavery. Also, reading between the lines tells us that every time polygamy appears in the bible, it brings tragedy to peoples’ lives, so we should not practice polygamy even though a literal reading of the bible allows it. (Few of us are elders so 1 Timothy 3:2 cannot be relied upon.)

More and more people are reading between the lines of the Bible on homosexuality and coming to a different conclusion that a literal reading would yield. Keep in mind the ancient pagan world was full of pederasty and temple prostitution and chattel slavery such that large numbers of men with what we would call a heterosexual orientation engaged in the opportunistic exploitation of boys. It’s a lot like what happens in Afghanistan. It’s truly an abomination. I am well aware that historically the “gay liberation movement” has included efforts to legitimize horrible things. As devout Christians and Jews we would never go along with most of what has been pushed by that movement. However, a total blanket prohibition on homosexuality–even for people who are “wired” to form stable loving monogamous caring lifelong couples with people their own age is contrary to the spirit of scripture.

Scripture gives us lots of rules and then gives us Michah 6:8. Scripture gives us lots of rules and then gives us Mark 2:27.

Sometimes taking scripture seriously–really taking it seriously–requires understanding when a literal reading is not the divinely intended reading for you. If you found a shoebox full of letters your grandmother received from your grandfather would you take everything your grandpa wrote as applying to you? Don’t force God to give you the same identical message he gave other people at other times. Context matters. Audience matters. Reading all scripture as if God is saying the exact same thing to you that he said to other people is putting words in God’s mouth.

  39. DeadMessenger
    November 10th, 2015 @ 12:56 am

And so you have to know God – really know Him, personally – or you simply can’t get it. It’s not that I believe you’re deliberately obtuse…well, but yeah, you really are…but even if you wanted to understand God, you simply can’t. I already explained to you that Jesus fulfilled the Law and what that meant exactly, but as we see, you simply cannot understand. For example, you conflating letters between your grandparents to God’s word.

I don’t blame you entirely for your false beliefs. Scripture tells us that a person can only come to Jesus through an act of God. John 6:44. Until then, you don’t get it.

The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. 1 Corinthians 2:14.

What I do blame you for is not having the good sense to shut up about things that you know nothing about. I don’t know know how to rebuild a transmission, but I don’t read some stuff on the internet and then attempt to school people who have been rebuilding trannies for 30 years. You’re talking to somebody who studies the Bible in the original Hebrew and Greek. I don’t know what atheist site you’re getting your arguments from, but I can promise you that I know more than they could ever possibly know about God and His word.

If I thought for one split second that you were a genuine seeker, I would get a gmail account, give it to you, and then teach you. But I know that you’re not a gnuine seeker because you lack humbleness, the first thing that a freshly-minted Christ follower learns.

The sin of Sodom was pride, idleness, and overabundance of bread. (Sound familiar?) The symptom was sodomy, an abominable sin in the eyes of God. You’re right about one thing. When you read with an open mind and quit trying to justify yourself, the Bible is consistent and very clear. Repenting from your wickedness first requires you acknowledge that wickedness. Christ will forgive you and save you, but first you have to admit you’re lost.

We homeschool ours whenever in the USA. None of them have ever attended a US public school. Now we live overseas and several of them attend a small private school. With all the small private schools in the area, they really compete for each child. Unsurprisingly, all of the schools strive to have strong academic programs because that is what sane parents demand when they have to pay.
