Tancredo Rejects the GOoP

Tom Tancredo offers the kind of leadership the GOoP needs:
The Boehner budget deal is the last straw, and enough is enough. I cannot any longer defend this transparently dishonest charade called the Republican Party.
What I will do instead is join the largest political group in the nation, unaffiliated Independents. In Colorado, they outnumber both “major” political parties.
The next day I will begin working my tail off for the next twelve months to organize Independents to help elect Sen. Ted Cruz as President of the United States. Cruz is the only candidate who both understands the left’s agenda and has demonstrated the courage to fight for our liberties, our sovereignty, and the survival of constitutional government.
Of the remaining herd, Cruz is about the optimal choice for President. Trump is somewhere between a mercenary and a weather vane. I can expect The Donald will cling to principle when under pressure and presented with a bag of gold, say, for this about long => […]. Rubio probably has the most charisma of the lot, but you can tell Marco knows who’s buttering the bread. I have vast personal respect for Carson. And he’s had his mettle tested quite a bit already. Rand Paul’s problem is differentiating his foreign policy ideas from those of #OccupyResoluteDesk. Carly is a great lady, but she’s really cut of the same cloth as Trump. #NoMasBush. Christie? I mean, I could support him, but the primaries will be an opportunity for him to burn off some calories, and little more.
The GOP was founded as an abolitionist party. The GOoP seems Progressively bent on turning the country into a vast debt plantation, along with its Democrat partners. Doesn’t take much to see that Princess Pelosi figures Her Majesty’s coronation will mean a return to Speakership.
Somebody with spare time please do me a favor and rank the GOoP candidates by the number of executive branch organizations they pledge to decommission. I think Cruz may win that. The point is that we need reform, and we need it years ago.

I agree with you on Cruz with the caveat on Immigration. He appears to be mushy on the subject and he needs to firm it up on the rule of law side, not as Rubio did with the Gang of 8.

To decommission executive branch organizations, one first needs to win the election.
As much as I like Cruz, I’m not so sure he can win against the Hildebeast.
Furthermore, to be the GOP candidate, one has to win enough delegates in the Primaries. It is my understanding that Cruz does NOT have efforts in many states to even get on the Primary ballot (would be glad to be corrected if wrong). Only Trump and Bush seem to have done so…and we all feel the same about Bush.

The piece was about MUCH more than a Cruz endorsement and should be read in it’s entirety. I like Cruz, but that really wan’t the gist.

here is why the democrats think they have a tipping point. Of course SALON thinks this is great

Your real problem is AM McConnell and the zombie committee in the Senate Republican caucus (Orrin Hatch, Richard Burr, &c). Anyone worth their salt in a leadership position in the Senate would have arranged for the demise of the filibuster as a practice. Instead, McConnell restored it. Prior to 1974, filibusters actually required a member of the Senate to stand on his feet for hours reciting from children’s books and what not. None ever lasted longer than 30 hours at a stretch and there was about 1 per year. The Cadillac filibusters the Senate has had for 40 years make a supermajority necessary to pass any sort of legislation, which guarantees that the only thing which passes will be bipartisan conspiracies against those in the public not-well-connected These bozos betrayed their constituency out of a mix of asinine Capitol Hill gamesmanship and stupid antiquarianism. Boehner and Ryan et al did not do that to you. McConnell et al did.

The sad mess of this presidential campaign is that there were four state governors running with adequate preparation for the presidency who had not (as had Jeb Bush) put themselves squarely on the wrong side of a deal-breaker issue and at least one straight up guy (Sen. Santorum) who was not equivocating on that issue (as others were). All the oxygen has been taken out of the room for these men, two have left the race, and two are stuck in the undercard debates. The other distressing aspect of this is that the working politician who is prospering right now is Marco Rubio, who is just about the least appropriate candidate of the bunch. Mrs. Fiorina is just about the best option among those whose campaigns do not appear to be floundering just yet.

Salon is staffed with idiots. Even Horowitz had to quit writing for them as they got too far left even for him.
By the by, you misspelled DimoKKKrap.

How does one confuse Johnny B. Cryin’ with anything standing erect?

If this country, after #OccupyResoluteDesk, is retarded enough to elect Her Majesty, then the country has passed from stupidity into masochism.

It was the first one he ever had?

Both Perry and Walker held questionable positions on immigration. Walker simply wasn’t ready for a national campaign, and Perry never would be.

Ugh, Salon.
Someone recently told me about the term Above The Line Trolling which was evidently coined at least 3 years ago, but I only heard it last week.
Old link but a useful term IMHO and definitely applicable to Salon

I would argue that we stepped right over masochism and into self-destruct mode.

There are many litmus tests one could use. Here’s mine:
The GOP candidate who promises to prosecute the criminals of the Obama era will get my vote.
November 1st, 2015 @ 12:23 am
Yeah, I hear rabid lefties online splooging about this constantly. It’s the endpoint of the FETISHIZATION the left has made of race.
All of America’s problems will go away when the evil White man is permanently in the minority.
Nobody ever explains the mechanism for that. It’s just magic, I guess.

I think Obama made us all reflexively look to someone with more experience, but that was a mistake on our part.
Obama isn’t a horrible president because of his lack of experience, he’s a horrible president because of his beliefs and character.
No amount of experience can fix that.

As I replied elsewhere, this sets a precedent that will take us in undesirable directions.
Fix the system. Restore the feedback loops that stabilize matters.

No justice, no peace. When you purposefully let criminals go free, it does damage to the fabric of society. This is especially true when they are high government officials, and there are so many of them.
You let them go, and what you’ll get is Haiti.
November 1st, 2015 @ 4:52 pm
We’re already going in an undesirable direction. Going after obvious criminals, including a former POTUS if the investigation takes you there, is required if you will have rule of law.

The Cruz endorsement is the very last thing mentioned. The rest is about the sham that the GOPe is.
November 1st, 2015 @ 7:08 pm
Love him or hate him, but Trump is the only possibility, albeit a small one, of avoiding a Hillary presidency.
November 1st, 2015 @ 7:31 pm
-The biggest problem Senator Cruz will have is in getting enough delegates, but only because the GOPe rigged the Primary game at the last convention.
-I no longer look to a President to fix things domestically – the patient [the central government is terminal, the Leftist Cancer having spread everywhere]. The only person I will support is the one who I believe will be able to achieve positive things in Foreign Affairs – the one place a President can still be truly effective.
The burden of bringing about the Restoration of Freedom and Ordered Liberty within America rests solely on us. The Loyalists must be defeated and vanquished, just as they were in the late 18th Century here.
