It Purports To Survey Those Confused Concerning The Wedding Tackle–Why Would The Math NOT Be Queer?

I don’t understand why anyone is surprised that Michael LaCour said “Data? Tada!” for his study. In defense of LaCour, this approach is completely in keeping with the subject.
For wide is the gate and broad is the road, slippery the slope, and well lubricated the fools cruising down that highway to an AC/DC album. Global warming. Abortion. ObamaCare. Her Majesty in purple riding in on a beast with an awful lot of horns, big cup of filth in her hand.
You need to understand that the benefit of the doubt starts in the middle. Anyone left of center politically should be viewed with an extra measure of skepticism, just due to their wont to view facts as a social construct.

This fellow LaCour says he has a reply forthcoming.
Science and Nature are nearly universal in college libraries at institutions with an arts-and-sciences faculty. You see them in high school libraries on occasion. They cover the whole range of what is deemed the most engaging current research in the natural sciences and it’s bloody difficult to get a paper placed in either one. I don’t think either publication generally devotes much if any space to social research papers. I haven’t access to the right databases, but I’d wager their publication of items in political science in the last three years (48 issues a year for each) would be in the single digits. So, not only do they depart from their usual practice, they referred the matter to peer reviewers asleep at the switch.
May 20th, 2015 @ 7:58 pm
Just realize the actual middle is not where moderns think it is. Juan McCain and Little Miss Lindsey are far leftists. The center is something those twits have never seen. The founders were centrists, but to the morons running around today, they are right wing nuts.
How little they know.
May 20th, 2015 @ 8:04 pm
Juan McCain and Little Miss Lindsey are far leftists.
You want to strike silly poses, go ahead. Waste of time.
May 20th, 2015 @ 8:08 pm
Even though he’s a graduate student, it was LaCour, not Green, who was the primary author. Green is not LaCour’s dissertation supervisor. Green is not on the faculty of UCLA at all. He’s all the way on the opposite coast at Columbia. He has, however, co-authored papers with Aranow and Broockman. There’s a story here about how Aranow, Broockman, and Kalla settled on this project, not sure what it is.
May 20th, 2015 @ 8:15 pm
LaCour is in a vulnerable position. The two degrees he’s been working on haven’t been awarded yet. He does, however, have a position lined up at the Woodrow Wilson center. Unless he has a bloody excellent explanation, he’s a pile of ash. I do not think these fellows in Dr. Green’s chum circle would have published this if they were not certain they had detected something unforgivable, because everything this fellow LaCour has worked toward the last six years is gone and any future employment prospects in any sort of academic or research position are gone.
May 20th, 2015 @ 9:02 pm
No slippery slopes Smitty only cliffs we step off of. It’s the various out croppings that smack us on he way down that create the illusion of slidding.
As for ‘benefit of the doubt’, even slightly left of center is a century past that.
May 20th, 2015 @ 9:04 pm
Asleep at the switch? Or, more likely, either afraid to rain on the gay parade or confirmation bias
Or both to some degree
I’m only surprised we haven’t seen (yet) the “fake but accurate” excuses plus the denouncement of the people who exposed the fraud as “homophobe apologists”
May 20th, 2015 @ 9:16 pm
I doubt they’re ‘afraid’. For a graduate student to submit a social research paper to Science was audacious. Their internal deliberations are not public and they indubitably publish only a single-digit share of submissions.
May 20th, 2015 @ 9:21 pm
I think making up a survey out of whole cloth is pretty unusual. There was about 30 years ago a bio-sciences researcher named John Darsee who was discovered to have fabricated every piece of research he had ever published. He got away with it for about 12 years, so it does happen. Darsee was exposed around about 1981, and was fingered by a colleague suspicious of his productivity. I’m not sure anyone had ever tried replicating anything he’d done, which is how this thing here erupted.
May 20th, 2015 @ 9:33 pm
“Her Majesty in purple riding in on a beast with an awful lot of horns, big cup of filth in her hand.
It’s weird how we all somehow know who you’re talking about here.
May 20th, 2015 @ 10:04 pm
You need to be patient, Darleen. History has shown us that if nothing else, the behavior of homos and the homo-embracing left are so predictable, they have become stereotypical.
May 20th, 2015 @ 10:22 pm
Notes-REE… Cool!
May 20th, 2015 @ 10:29 pm
It’s a sad commentary on the human mind that it DOES WORK to create a bogus survey.
People are indeed moved by seeing a huge swing in public opinion. Their subconscious says, “Oh, if the majority of people think that then I’ll just slide over in that direction, too.” And slowly they begin to believe that they’ve always believed it.
May 20th, 2015 @ 11:12 pm
My profile picture is the Hebrew word “notzrim” which is the word Jews use for Christian. Some say the root word is the one for Nazarene, which is the meaning of my previous profile pic, which was an Arabic symbol.
However, it appears that, like most Hebrew roots, there are multiple meanings, and this root also means “keeper” or guardian, one would say, of the faith.
Obscure and esoteric enough for ya?
May 21st, 2015 @ 12:14 am
Jeez. And I thought the previous profile pic was a mutant one eyed smiley face.
May 21st, 2015 @ 1:20 am
That’s what I thought at first, until I saw a report where ISIS was using it to mark the homes and property of known Christians. (The world would be a cooler place if it meant “here abides a friendly cyclops.”)
May 21st, 2015 @ 3:07 am
No, although that would fit me perfectly.
May 21st, 2015 @ 3:11 am
Could have meant “Watch out for DM.”
May 21st, 2015 @ 3:24 am
Someday the world will be a cooler place. It’s written that when Jesus is running the show, deserts will bloom, and animals will be harmless to us. So, you know, you can run around putting your hand in lion’s and alligator’s mouths, and nuthin’. And if Amanda Marcotte was there, you could put your hand in her mouth, and also nuthin’.

I’m confident that ‘propaganda’ is packed tightly somewhere in that story.
May 21st, 2015 @ 4:15 am
Oh come on: the Clinton Foundation has plenty of workshops for this sort of tool.

Right. Remember how the anti-vaccine movement totally collapsed when the single study they claimed turned out to be fraudulent?

That’s not where you want to work if you’re an aspirant academic.
Where’s Michael Bellesiles working?
May 21st, 2015 @ 10:52 am
I’m confused. The people who attempted and failed to replicate the survey and have written a research paper which discredits this fellow LaCour are also associates of LaCour’s co-author (who has now repudiated the paper). How were they engaged in ‘propaganda’ given that their business was checking LaCour’s work?
May 21st, 2015 @ 11:41 am
Does anybody remember the last time a right winger was forced to retract an academic study or journalistic piece because it was fabricated?
May 21st, 2015 @ 12:40 pm
Huh. Interesting. Also, Genesis 1:14 says that heavenly objects are for signs (among other things), which would include eclipses.
And some people say that you can’t prove there’s a God. Maybe not in a controlled laboratory experiment, but when you see things like this, seems mighty hard to deny Him at that point.
May 21st, 2015 @ 12:42 pm
Ha! Good one…
May 21st, 2015 @ 1:13 pm
He’s the primary author of the paper and the co-author is not his dissertation supervisor or even at the same institution.
May 21st, 2015 @ 5:00 pm
But for a failed aspirant academic then Clinton Foundation is a perfect fit.
May 21st, 2015 @ 6:48 pm
I was thinking, Z. Maybe I should change my name from DeadMessenger to NotesREE.
Nobody would get it except you. And the handful of Jews reading conservative bloggers, and those guys all probably know me at this point, lol.

Somehow I don’t imagine Amanda being a member of heaven on earth.

God can redeem even the unredeemable. Even Amanda, wh…..ok…even I can’t keep a straight face at this point.

Or you could chat up the tarts selling beauty products from kiosks at the mall! Not that I’d ever engage in such behaviour…
I denounce myself.

Hmmm. Seems as though Mrs. Z needs to keep you on a shorter leash. With a muzzle.
