Christians Branded ‘Hate Group’ for Opposing LGBT Agenda in Schools

Posted on | April 19, 2015 | 191 Comments

Friday was the national “Day of Silence” promoted by GLSEN, the radical homosexual teachers organization founded in 1990 to promote the gay agenda in public schools. GLSEN has been controversial because the group’s director, Kevin Jennings, was implicated in the infamous 2000 “Fistgate” incident in Massachusetts. Yet it is now opposition to GLSEN that is considered controversial in Colorado:

Jefferson County school board member Julie Williams said late Friday that she was “sincerely sorry” and that she would remove a link on her personal Facebook page that she shared that encouraged families to keep their students home Friday and “away from perverse indoctrination” of the“homosexual-bisexual-transsexual agenda.”
“To be honest with you, I didn’t read the article,” Williams said. “I just saw it and thought I was sharing information with parents.”
The link, like most on Williams’ wall, was posted without comment. It directs Facebook users to a newsletter published by SaveCalifornia.com, but neither overtly endorses nor condemns the group and its message.
Friday is the national “Day of Silence.” It is organized by GLSEN, an organization that supports lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender students and teachers in schools. The aim of the protest is to raise awareness about LGBT bullying. Students who participate in the protest attend school but remain silent. Some put tape over their mouths.
SaveCalifornia.com describes itself as a “frontline pro-family leader standing strong for moral virtues for the common good.” But the Southern Poverty Law Center considers the organization a hate group, akin to the white supremacy political party American Freedom Party and Westboro Baptist Church.

That’s right: The SPLC now considers it “hate” for Christians to oppose gay activism aimed at school children. What do we know about SaveCalifornia.com?

Thanks to generous support from everyday people who care, our Campaign for Children and Families is:
– Leading for parental rights by empowering fathers and mothers
– Fighting for the protection of children’s innocence everywhere
– Challenging liberal lies with God’s timeless moral truths
– Boldly speaking out for your values in the culture war
– Teaching and activating pro-family citizens to stand for what’s right
Founded in 1999 by veteran pro-family leader Randy Thomasson, SaveCalifornia.com is dedicated to defending and representing the values of parents, grandparents and concerned citizens who want what’s best for this generation and future generations.
We’re an articulate voice in the media. We expose what’s wrong or right with our government. We urge lawmakers to respect and support family values. And we empower citizens to speak out for their values.

Does this 501(c)3 organization sound like a “hate group” to you? Well, what about their “Day of Silence” message? Thanks to California Catholic Daily, we have the full text of the group’s April 2 email:

If you have children in K-12 government schools, in California or another state, please keep them home and away from perverse indoctrination on Friday, April 19.
That’s the day of the so-called “Day of Silence,” where sexually confused students and teachers refuse to speak during the entire academic day. They’ll indoctrinate everybody else through handouts and chalkboard writings and videos and other propaganda tools. They’ll tell children to support and embrace the unnatural and unhealthy homosexual-bisexual-transsexual agenda and will say that anyone who’s against it is a “bigot.”
SaveCalifornia.com is leading the West Coast effort to urge parents to remove their children from government schools on Friday, April 19, the nationwide date of the “Day of Silence.”
Yet because the pro-homosexual-bisexual-transsexual “silence” could be permitted anytime April 15-19, SaveCalifornia.com is advising you to contact the school to ask if “silence” will be allowed on any date. No matter what, please keep your children home on April 19, to express your strong disapproval of the pro-perversity state school bureaucracy.
On Friday April 19, 2013 the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network is once again exploiting public schools to promote homosexuality and gender confusion as moral and normative through the political protest called the Day of Silence.
A coalition of pro-family groups is urging parents to keep their children home from school on the “Day of Silence,” if your school is allowing students to refuse to speak in class.

Is it “hate” to say that in 2015? Read it again. Do you suddenly feel inspired to go out and bully homosexuals?

The Speech Police are also the Thought Police. What we are witnessing is an effort to tell people what to think by controlling what they are allowed to say. Whether or not you agree with SaveCalifornia.com, is it incorrect to say that GLSEN’s agenda is “to promote homosexuality and gender confusion as moral and normative”? Are those who consider this to be immoral and abnormal not permitted to express their opposition? Is Romans 1:18-32 now to be forbidden as “hate” speech?

No responsible parent would send their children to American public schools, which have become a menace to our nation’s liberty.

“Truth is great and will prevail if left to herself . . . she is the proper and sufficient antagonist to error, and has nothing to fear from the conflict, unless by human interposition disarmed of her natural weapons, free argument and debate, errors ceasing to be dangerous when it is permitted freely to contradict them.”
Thomas Jefferson, Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom, 1786

Public schools are Ignorance Factories, operated by corrupt government bureaucrats who cannot be trusted to teach children facts or useful skills. The K-12 Implosion approaches, as does the Apocalypse.

Why is being both happy and gay so impossible?

Ask the unhappy homosexuals in homosexuality-accepting countries. Act quickly, because obviously you can’t ask the ones who have already committed suicide, the poor things. If only the people who could’ve helped the unhappy gays hadn’t been silenced by them.

Your idiotic scenario did not speak of simple rejection, which it certainly could have. You had to throw in frivolous and ridiculous details about fantasized statements made by supposed Christian mothers. Because you are not Christian, and know nothing about true Christianity, or how true Christians think, I repeat, accurately, that you are literally full of crap.

“Sexual orientation, as evidenced by growing scientific data, cannot be changed from gay to straight. Just because you say otherwise does not make it so.”

Oh, of course, it can never change from gay to straight. But it can change from straight to gay, right? Or isn’t that what Cynthia Nixon said before she made a retraction at sufferance?

Leaving aside the example of Bill De Blasio’s current spouse, Salon (of all places) featured an article today about homosexual males who claim that they are happily married to female persons. As long as they do not claim to be “ex-gay,” they seem to evade denunciation, for now.

When the resident homosexual columnist at New Republic claimed that being gay was a choice for him, the LGBT chorus swiftly declared that he does not know his own psychology and that the doctrine of “born that way” must forever be true:

“Better to shout me down before anyone else admits to making the same choice that I made to be gay.”

Despite some folk deserving a figurative kick in the head sometimes…there’s no such thing as too nice.

A short visit to the comment section of most any left leaning site and you read some of the most vile and disgusting things aimed towards those who disagree.

Not that this is news to any of us but the hypocrisy of the left and it’s denizen’s is mind boggling.

I don’t know if the word is creeped out or nauseated. Maybe it’s both; the pictures alone surely inspire both. “Adultism”? Are you flippin’ kidding me? That whole thing is an insulting, disrespectful train wreck, written by someone with deep mental problems.

Here is a few additional workshop questions I’d recommend:

Look at yourselves. Look at each other. Now explain cogently in a sentence or two why you think adults should consider you equals.

Break into small groups. Brainstorm reasons why you should not have to man up and stop being crybabies like every other generation of humanity for the past 6000 years of human history.

Explain why you believe that you are a special snowflake, without referring to “Mommy” in your answer.

Why do you think you have a right to call me by my first name? Do not speak unless spoken to, and refer to me as Ma’am when I talk to you.

It is so carefully crafted to both appeal to typical adolescent ways of thinking, and to sound acceptable and benign to adults who aren’t paying full attention. What is that? GROOMING. This is like a professionally photographed and designed appeal from Friendly Chester the Cool Bachelor Who Wants To Show You Something Special, Because You’re So Mature For Your Age.

Thank you. Technically, I shouldn’t have told him — as Bonaparte said, “Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake” — but there isn’t really anything he can do about it.

He will act according to his nature, and I will act according to mine. The foundation of the future has already been poured, and is setting into concrete as we speak.

  21. Daniel Freeman
    April 20th, 2015 @ 2:24 am

Okay, I read it. I was impressed by how well-designed it was to get adolescents to question the definition of adulthood, and to get adults to treat them as peers. Perfect grooming of both parties for statutory rape.

It is an example par excellence of that Buckley quote that RSM is so fond of:

“In the hands of a skillful indoctrinator, the average student not only thinks what the
indoctrinator wants him to think . . . but is altogether positive that
he has arrived at his position by independent intellectual exertion.
This man is outraged by the suggestion that he is the flesh-and-blood tribute to the success of his indoctrinators.”

Dude…you are both, figuratively and literally full of crap.

A true Christian parent may be dismayed if their child “comes out” and tells them they are gay, but they will not reject them.

You tell the child, usually a young adult when they decide to declare, that you still and always will love them.

They will have to live with the consequences of their chosen lifestyle.

  24. Mike G.

It didn’t used to be like that. Back in the day, good students were allowed to and encouraged to learn more, to get ahead of their classmates, if it suited them.

Also, if there were students who were having trouble keeping up, they would be put in a class with other students who had the same problem.

That way, they didn’t hold the other students back and could get more individualized attention in hopes of bringing them back up to speed.

Also, teachers weren’t scared to hold a student back a grade or two if need be.

Please, please, please stop the broad brush condemnation, e.g. “No responsible parent would send their [sic] children to American public schools, which have become a menace to our nation’s liberty.”

Those of us teachers who dedicate ourselves to instilling the ideals of America into our students struggle enough against the perception (and sadly, in some cases, the fact) that our schools are “Ignorance Factories, operated by corrupt government bureaucrats who cannot be trusted to teach children facts or useful skills.”

This is valid, but NOT FOR ALL SCHOOL DISTRICTS, ALL SCHOOLS, OR ALL TEACHERS.

There are 500 school districts in Pennsylvania alone. Even God agreed to spare Sodom if Abraham could find 10 (bargained down from 50) righteous men. Would all of you please qualify your condemnation of schools and teachers for the sake of those truly fighting for the same standards and ideas as yours?

  27. Daniel Freeman
    April 20th, 2015 @ 7:37 am

Also, teachers weren’t scared to hold a student back a grade or two if need be.

I find the concept of “social promotion” inherently offensive. It implies that the primary function of school is socialization with one’s age peers. Although that can have value (depending on the peers), it could be performed through extra-curricular activities.

They’re essentially capitulating to the notion that school isn’t really about learning — and once you accept that premise, you might as well focus on indoctrination.

I’m not “caveating”–I’m acknowledging the validity of the original premise as long as it’s qualified.

I used “sic” to indicated that the lack of pronoun-antecedent agreement was in the original.

I regret that you found my comment unintelligible.

  32. RKae
    April 20th, 2015 @ 12:51 pm

“Parent” is singular. “Their” is plural. The pronoun does not agree with the noun it is representing.

I’m with her on that. It’s wrong.

  33. K-Bob
    April 20th, 2015 @ 2:41 pm

I find anything that equates to zero or an empty set difficult to label as purely singular. So I accept that formulation as proper. Although I frequently run into situations where grammar and set theory do not agree.

(It’s why I prefer the British form of using plural when referencing teams and companies, although I don’t use it.)

  34. K-Bob
    April 20th, 2015 @ 2:45 pm

I didn’t write that you, specifically, were “caveating”. I refuted the premise that caveats need to be employed. And since a caveat seems to be required, I was referring to articles at a website where the subject has been “topical” for years.

In other words, where someone chooses to reject a premise, they need to go well beyond one article when they are aware that it is part of a major body of work.

If writers of articles had to caveat and qualify everything they wrote, they could rarely get to a salient point.

“Their” has been commonly used as a neuter singular in colloquial American English since at least the ’90s, because “his or her” grates and it isn’t worth fighting over “his.”

I don’t believe that. Most people really do believe they’re doing the best for their kids by sending them to public school. They believe homeschooling is too hard and will handicap their kids. It’s ignorance on both public and homeschool that perpetuates this.

Evolution is also contrary to environmentalism. Evolution is contrary to socialism. Evolution is contrary to any form of dogmatic morals or ethics. Evolution is contrary to any real purpose in life. Evolution makes life just a pointless struggle with no reason to continue or to do anything of any value. All views of good and evil are subjective. There is no reason to preserve nature because nature is an accident that might do better through the struggle and improve itself. There is no reason for me to practice good citizenship because who are you to tell me right and wrong? Life is all right of might. Take what you can. That’s what evolution teaches.

  39. DeadMessenger
    April 20th, 2015 @ 5:15 pm

    Maybe.

But I can say that, all told, homeschooling was cheaper, and ridiculously easy. You can go to homeschooler exchanges and get used curriculum cheap. If you look, you can find ones with the teacher edition and tests included. And a lot of those come with teacher talking points. Seriously, anybody can homeschool. You just have to be motivated to do it, and I sure was.
