Yes, But It’s France
Posted on | April 16, 2015 | 43 Comments
The French (socialist) government is peddling a study claiming one hundred effing percent of French women are harassed on public transportation.
One hundred percent! Every single female!
Now that’s how you do fake statistics, my friends: Go big or go home.
I’m not sure the numbers are fake. The French are a nation of degenerate swine. They are the nation that gave the world Jean-Paul Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir, Jacques Derrida, Michel Foucault and Monique Wittig. Do French men behave like animals on public transportation? Do they treat all women like whores? Sure. It’s part of French culture. You know, like wine, socialism, defeat, surrender, hating Jews and collaborating with Nazis.
France: An entire nation that’s worse than Massachusetts.

Who are these french women and why is there no Rule 5 for it?
I will get on it immediately. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0pRUGsB1qGY
April 16th, 2015 @ 6:38 pm
Of course you could just apply Derrida’s crazy deconstructionism to this issue and say French public transport doesn’t really exist nor do the women in the study. Also since this study was done in the past and history has no meaning the study has no meaning either.
These people turned philosophy into a parlor game, interesting to observe but of zero practical value. Sort of like watching a skilled con artist play Three-card Monte on the streets of NYC, it’s kinda cool to watch the perfected art of deception but it’s not something to participate in /rant

Actually based on the particular 300 women sampled, I’m pretty sure the results are skewed.

In fairness to the French, the real problem is Paris. Everyone needs to visit it once for a few days, but the people there are assholes and the whole city smells like a combination of butt and Camembert cheese. Once you get away from the Île-de-France and into the countryside, however, the place and the people become infinitely more pleasant.

They also gave the world Charlemagne, St. Louis, Joan of Arc, the Cure of Ars, Charles de Gaulle, Edith Stein, and Jerome Lejeune. The excision of chattel slavery in continental Europe began (as best can be discerned) in Ile de France in the 7fh century. Other than Britain (and upland areas like Voralberg), it was in France that feudal dues first fell into desuetude, and there may have been no area in Europe of any size wherein rustical land was a larger part of the whole. France was not the pioneer of industrial development; it was 3d after Britain and the former Austrian Netherlands. It’s an affluent country, it’s people are among the world’s most rigorously educated, it has handsome countryside, handsome architecture and cityscapes, a fine rail system; a more sensible medical system than Britain (to take one example), delectable cheeses, smoked meats, coffee, and tobacco; and what may be the occidental world’s most beautiful language. Life is good in France, which is why there’s hardly any emigration; those chaps in Quebec and Acadia are about it.
Place has many problems, of course.
April 16th, 2015 @ 8:12 pm
They’re more cordial if you speak the language passably. Some service personnel are stupefying. I think the French in general are more inner-directed and seldom have sales personalities, but Parisian characters going out of their way to assault you verbally when you’re the customer is something. Of course, it was decades ago I was there…
April 16th, 2015 @ 8:13 pm
I quite enjoyed Alsace and Normandy when I was there. I recommend Colmar and its environs for week of good food, wine and hiking in the Vosges. Plus, the Alsatians have a certain residual Alemannic sensibility about them that distinguishes them from their Gallic neighbors.
April 16th, 2015 @ 8:17 pm
My French is reasonable; it was certainly sufficient in other areas of the country. My wife is fluent and they treated her just as badly in Paris. As I said, everyone should visit Paris once for a week. But that, for me at least, was enough. There are other places in France I would prefer where the people are nicer and one gets the true flavor of the country without the Parisian vitriol.

April 17th, 2015 @ 6:30 am
It wasn’t a real study, it only surveyed women who signed up for a forum on sexual harassment on public transportation, so it’s those who fret enough about it to be there. What are the odds they would have been harassed, or claim they were?

Took French in school. Always thought it was strange how much time they spent trying to get southerners to use the proper French accent. I drove my teachers nuts. Could speak it fairly well with good pronunciation but with a southern drawl. I didn’t see the big deal. I happen to love English spoken with a french accent, especially from a female.
April 17th, 2015 @ 8:05 am
The inner core of Paris is beautiful, Outside of that it’s a dump. Squalid suburbs.
April 17th, 2015 @ 8:06 am
Other than the rail system most of what you described was put into place hundreds of years ago. What have they done for the world lately?
April 17th, 2015 @ 8:20 am
Jerome Lejune died in 1994, not ‘hundreds of years ago’.
Their housing stock is not on average hundreds of years old (though they have many beautiful ancient buildings) and French medical providers are not using 18th century technology.
Affluence, absolute and relative, is something maintained. Real GDP per capita in France has increased by about 50% since 1980; the trouble it faces is lackluster performance vis a vis the U.S. (and, to a lesser degree, Britain and Germany). Their income levels used to be 90% of those in the U.S. and are now 78% of those of the U.S. Declines in relative position have been registered against Britain and Germany as well. It’s got some assets two. It’s one of the minority of affluent countries which does not have a serious fertility problem and can get along with a small immigration stream.
It’s the business of a country to be, not to give the world things (though it is agreeable when countries do give the world things, by which I mean things other than headaches). Britain has likely done the most for humanity during the modern era. France gave the world its language and literature and it has provided some residual services to its former dependencies.

He epitomized, and was one of the most extreme examples of France’s Napoleon complex. He was an ally only in the sense that Saudi Arabia is an ally and was arguably Eisenhower’s biggest headache. In dealing with him we were forced to humor the fantasy that France was a ”Great Power” after their humiliating defeat in 1940.

If you ask me, France has been going downhill ever since the French Revolution. Clearly the way to restore her fortunes it to bring back the House of Bourbon.

They were going downhill with them as well. The House of Bourbon set the stage for the French Revolution with their profligacy, particularly Louis XIV’s military campaigns. You can go to Heidelberg, Germany and view some of Louis’ handwork at the remains of the castle. The “Sun King” drubbed his neighbors and his country. Louis XV wasn’t able to recover things sufficiently to prevent a revolution.
April 17th, 2015 @ 10:42 am
Francophile Germany is a decent place. They’re kinda conflicted there, however.

April 17th, 2015 @ 11:26 am
My ex-wife when she was getting ready for her bat mitzvah spent the summer in Dallas where her dad lived, and went to Hebrew school there for the summer. When she returned to Chicago to her mom in the fall to Hebrew school there, the first time she spoke in class, the teacher just started cracking up laughing, pounding fist on table laughing, just completely losing it.
Needless to say she was concerned by this, until the teacher explained, “Sorry, it’s just that I’ve never heard Hebrew spoken before with a Texas accent.”
April 17th, 2015 @ 11:52 am
I suppose it would be terribly RAAAAACIST of me to speculate that most of those doing the harassing are not native Frenchmen, but Algerian Muslims and Senegalese blacks?
April 17th, 2015 @ 11:58 am
There was quite a sizable contingent of Huguenots who went to South Africa when the Edict of Nantes was revoked and the Protestants expelled. So you still find French names among the Afrikaner population such as Terreblanche, although some like Villiers have become Dutchified (Viljoen). The Huguenots are the reason South Africa is now a wine growing region, they brought viniculture.
April 17th, 2015 @ 3:24 pm
They were, but it didn’t really get going until the Revolution. The later Bourbons were excessively profligate, sure, but the country hadn’t yet descended into the riot-prone, ungovernable mess it would later become.
April 17th, 2015 @ 7:07 pm

I completely believe this, if I factor in that these ‘french women’ are all white, caucasian french, and the perpetrators are probably mostly muslim.
I just recently moved back to the US after having lived in Europe for almost two years, and believe me, this is an entirely believable statistic if you are in any major european city.
