‘The True Peaceful Nature of Islam’

That phrase appears in an op-ed column President Obama published in the Los Angeles Times. Perhaps our president hasn’t been paying close attention for the past 30 or 40 years, but it seems to me that the Muslims who want to kill or enslave us all might disagree about the “true peaceful nature” of their religion. More wisdom from our president:

Governments that deny human rights play into the hands of extremists who claim that violence is the only way to achieve change. Efforts to counter violent extremism will only succeed if citizens can address legitimate grievances through the democratic process and express themselves through strong civil societies.

Katie Pavlich:

What, exactly, does Obama mean when he says “legitimate grievances”? The grievances Al Qaeda and ISIS hold are against infidels and Muslims who don’t go far enough to wage jihad on the West.

Muslims want to kill or enslave us all. This is the “true nature” of Islam. It’s in the Koran. That’s their “grievance.” Period.

    THIS IS INCONTROVERTIBLE: isis is emulating their prophet PBUH. if isis is un-islamic, then their prophet was un-islamic – and this is impossible; therefore isis is islamic.

    Nothing is peaceful about Islam. Look at its founding: Muhammad was a general and led many battles. After he died, the Shia/Sunni schism immediately occurred over a disagreement over who should succeed Muhammad. None of Muhammad’s sons survived into adulthood, therefore direct hereditary succession was never an option. After the Rashudin Caliphate was founded, it expanded violently and militarily… literally the entire history of Islam is a history of violence.

    Something must have really gone haywire at “The Atlantic” printing press. Despite their fervent efforts, it seems that a smidgen of actual truth made it through one of their communiques:

    Many mainstream Muslim organizations have gone so far as to say the Islamic State is, in fact, un-Islamic. It is, of course, reassuring to know that the vast majority of Muslims have zero interest in replacing Hollywood movies with public executions as evening entertainment. But Muslims who call the Islamic State un-Islamic are typically, as the Princeton scholar Bernard Haykel, the leading expert on the group’s theology, told me, “embarrassed and politically correct, with a cotton-candy view of their own religion” that neglects “what their religion has historically and legally required.” Many denials of the Islamic State’s religious nature, he said, are rooted in an “interfaith-Christian-nonsense tradition.

    Every academic I asked about the Islamic State’s ideology sent me to Haykel. Of partial Lebanese descent, Haykel grew up in Lebanon and the United States, and when he talks through his Mephistophelian goatee, there is a hint of an unplaceable foreign accent.

    According to Haykel, the ranks of the Islamic State are deeply infused with religious vigor. Koranic quotations are ubiquitous. “Even the foot soldiers spout this stuff constantly,” Haykel said. “They mug for their cameras and repeat their basic doctrines in formulaic fashion, and they do it all the time.” He regards the claim that the Islamic State has distorted the texts of Islam as preposterous, sustainable only through willful ignorance. “People want to absolve Islam,” he said. “It’s this ‘Islam is a religion of peace’ mantra. As if there is such a thing as ‘Islam’! It’s what Muslims do, and how they interpret their texts.” Those texts are shared by all Sunni Muslims, not just the Islamic State. “And these guys have just as much legitimacy as anyone else.”

    All Muslims acknowledge that Muhammad’s earliest conquests were not tidy affairs, and that the laws of war passed down in the Koran and in the narrations of the Prophet’s rule were calibrated to fit a turbulent and violent time. In Haykel’s estimation, the fighters of the Islamic State are authentic throwbacks to early Islam and are faithfully reproducing its norms of war. This behavior includes a number of practices that modern Muslims tend to prefer not to acknowledge as integral to their sacred texts. “Slavery, crucifixion, and beheadings are not something that freakish [jihadists] are cherry-picking from the medieval tradition,” Haykel said. Islamic State fighters “are smack in the middle of the medieval tradition and are bringing it wholesale into the present day.”

    Well the funny thing there is ISIS acts like the exact reason these Islamic colonialist expressions exist in the first place. If ISIS were truly un-Islamic it follows it never would’ve left S. Arabia.

    Any fool who knows the difference between a threat and a threat assessment knows we’d all be banging our heads against a floor five times a day were it not for our terrible weapons.

    It was an option. Mohammed’s cousin and son-in-law was Ali. Ali’s wife was Mohammed’s daughter Fatima. Their son Hussein died at the Battle of Karbala in 680. Thus was Shi’ism born and it still claims direct descent to be the deal-breaker. Ironically orthodox Sunni Arabs determine the most worthy as being from the Quyrash tribe so I’m not certain what the hub-hub is there.

    Well, what it really speaks to is the incredible lack of research Westerners in gov’t and media have devoted to Islam. It’s not like any of that stuff is a secret. Even the History of the Crusades from the ’50s from the U of Pennsylvania which had a second edition in the ’60s from the U of Wisc has most of that stuff. It’s just a matter of reading it and then listening to the words of ISIS. Bilad al-Sham is a watchword in Arabic history and it’s no coincidence it’s embedded in the name of ISIS. Their geographic centrality is not quite the same as a Saudi’s.

    I don’t understand what all the hand wringing is about. The rise of the first legitimate Caliphate in almost a millennium represents a tremendous opportunity. It represents an opportunity that hasn’t been present since Hulagu. Daesh’s particular belief in the inevitable apocalyptic battle at Ar-Raqqah is a God Send. All we need to is arrange it.
    The hysterical lamenting of the numerous fighters from around the world joining the Caliphate is exactly wrong. We can’t kill these people in France, Germany, Belgium or Minneapolis. But we can kill them anywhere we find them in the mid-East or South-West Asia. The notion that we can’t kill our way out of this problem is preposterous. All we need is the will. We already have the means. We will have to get over our squeamishness about collateral damage and jettison silly notions such as ”courageous restraint”, winning hearts and minds and particularly proportional response. We should have never adopted those concepts in the first place.
    From time to time one sees references to the Thirty Years War in discussions of Islam’s war against humanity. We should create the same results. What is needed is demographic destruction of Islam’s fighting age male population. If our tactics create more Jihadis then we kill them too, we need only continue until the threat is obliterated.

    This is par for the course, and some time ago I stopped being surprised. I think two things are at work here: one, since the 2014 elections Obama wants revenge on his enemies, which is everyone who disagrees with him (or perhaps anyone who doesn’t fawn on him), and two, since the elections he’s under no pressure to hide who and what he really is.

    And neither should be a surprise. Those of us who saw through his facade back in 2008 were called racists. We saw this coming and our warnings were not simply disregarded, but we were viciously attacked. Now others are seeing what we saw all along and it’s too damn late. So just be prepared for more Bullworth truth bombs from the faculty lounge Marxist.

    And don’t pretend to be shocked.

    Amazing that within 24 hours a spokesperson from Obama’s State Department unequivocally declares KONY/The Lord’s Resistance Army to be undeniably Christian while Obama himself says we should not take ISIL’s claims to be Islamic at face value.

    Logical consistency? Who needs it.

    The way taquiyya works best is when they redefine words that everyone knows and has agreed upon for centuries. Words like “innocents”, as in “We deplore the death of innocents,” do not, per Inigo Montoya, mean what you think it means.

    “Innocents” means non-kaffir only.

    “Peace” means, no more kaffir.

    When you redefine terms like this, you can speak with complete sincerity in your voice and expression. barack knows this. He uses this form of cant.

    Alas! Our armed forces are good at following the orders of the elected civilian leadership, and the elected civilian leadership would never order arranging such.

    If Da’ish had an atomic bomb and managed to get it into New York and detonate it there, President Obama would be talking about the need to send foreign aid to Da’ish controlled areas.

    The entire history of Islam is one of military expansion and conquest punctuated by frequent episodes of bloody internecine violence between Sunni and Shia, the latter of which has been constant since the end of the Ottoman Empire in the 1920s.

    What we’re seeing now with Islamic State is simply the revival of old school medieval Islamic military conquest with modern light infantry weapons. For Obama to say that the brutality and aggressive barbarism of ISIS is a “perversion” of Islam is a display of either abysmal historical ignorance or sheer willful mendacity. Indeed, ISIS is practicing Islam as it was practiced for 1300 years.

    If pulled from all other commitments, except traditional roles such as gaurding embassies and naval security roles, the Marine Corps is plenty big enough.
    Two Marine divisions, two Marine air wings and support personnel with one of each in reserve is plenty. Needless to say, they would depend on the USN for logistics and possibly close air support.
    My point is place it in the hands of one service and a single commander, leave the committees, politics, interservice rivalries etc. out of it and commit to total unrestricted warfare against this threat.

    I think we can all agree that these Islamists are not going to tire or grow out of this. Killing them, every last one of them, is the only way to stop them.
    I’d much rather see a pan-Arab or pan-Islamic army do the job but we all know that’s never going to happen because Islamic politicians have to pander to as many of their citizens as possible just as ours do.

    If it is not done then someday we will be at war with Islam on the streets of America.

    There are plenty of Muslims who believe just that. They believe that someday the entire world will be Muslim.

    I’ve known and conversed deeply with dozens of Muslims from North Africa, the Middle East and South Asia- friends and coworkers.
    Everyone of them, to a man, believes that this is simply destiny.
    They may not, on the surface, agree with the violent means with which some promote the cause, but they do acknowledge that it is just bringing about destiny sooner than otherwise would happen and so do not show any great outrage over such barbarism.

    Friends and coworkers I say but I wouldn’t trust a one of them because their religion tells them that it is just to lie to infidels.

    I have no basic problem with what you are saying, I just don’t think the Marines are big enough to do it. Naval logistics aren’t set up for that sort of campaign either.

    In my opinion, it will take a minimum of 4-6 divisions to do the work. Contra William Lind, a 4th generation war can be won with 2nd generation Armies. It takes two things, will to win, and the ability to stay the course. It takes a lot of force to do the job, but will and not losing your nerve, are the important characteristics that will determine who wins.
