    I spent the weekend at Long Beach, WA. It’s usually cold, gray and rainy in February, but this time it was sunny and 60. Damned pleasant.

    So people just HAD to make “global warming” comments. You just can’t enjoy nice weather, can ya? Look what liberalism has done to you! You get a sunny holiday weekend and you go around grumbling about doomsday!

    I had to remind people that “Long Beach, Washington, is NOT the globe.” This was apparently news to many people.

    I know people here in Oregon who’ve made the best of it by golfing instead of snow skiing. However, it doesn’t bode well for our rivers, which rely on the mountain snowpack for their summer water levels.

    I recall a couple winters back we had news reports of doom and gloom over not much snowpack; newsreaders going on and on about how, come summer, we’d be living through rolling blackouts, etc.

    It never happened. Summer and fall went by without a hitch. And the newsreaders completely forgot their threats of doom. They were off to the races with some new cry of fear.

    The snowpack was back the next year.

    So, by all means, go golfing! Enjoy it! Take it from a guy who works out in the weather in the Pacific Northwest: when you have a spate of nice days, thank God!

    It’s been a harsh winter out here in CA, too, Wombat. Yesterday I had to back flush the pool filter and clean out the skimmer basket twice because of all the leaves! Brutal!
