U.S.-Backed Subversion in Israel?

Posted on | January 28, 2015 | 126 Comments

Alana Goodman at the Free Beacon reports astonishing news:

A U.S. State Department-funded group is financing an Israeli campaign to oust Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and has hired former Obama aides to help with its grassroots organizing efforts.
U.S.-based activist group OneVoice International has partnered with V15, an “independent grassroots movement” in Israel that is actively opposing Netanyahu’s party in the upcoming elections, Ha’aretz reported on Monday. Former national field director for President Obama’s 2012 reelection campaign Jeremy Bird is also reportedly involved in the effort.
OneVoice development and grants officer Christina Taler said the group would be working with V15 on voter registration and get-out-the-vote efforts but would not engage in overtly partisan activities. She said OneVoice and V15 are still formalizing the partnership.
While V15 has not endorsed any particular candidates, it is working to oppose Netanyahu in the March elections.

Barack Obama and John Kerry need to answer for this.

The New Scofield is much better than the original. The old version had a very extreme view of dispensationalism that simply was not biblical.

He wants to spend more time with his husband. He’s a pathetic individual.

Well, it’s not like our president is a vile, mean spirited, vengeful sumbitch who would use a public funded entity like the IRS to destroy his personal and political enemies, is it? It is? Nevermind!

One thing I particularly like about the New Scofield is how it uses the KJV, but it transparently corrects the known errors in the KJV.

I did see your comment there; you should visit more often. Had I studied German at the University of Kentucky — which, I would point out, destroyed the University of Missouri Tiger Cubs 69-53 last night — I s’pose I’d have known that.

Let me mention that score again: UK 69, Mizzou 53.

I know; we suck this year.

Still, as good as UK is this year, we could still not win the title.

I think the worst thing that could happen is for UK to be undefeated going into the tournament. They need one loss to make sure they know they’re human. If they go into the tournament believing they’re invincible, it could bite them in the rear.

But I give Calipari his due. He’s made the most of the “one and done” system, which college hoops has become. Our Kim Anderson is a good coach, but Frank Haith left the cupboard bare recruit-wise, so it’s going to be a few years until we’re back in basketball Beulah Land.

I agree with you on the one loss bit, although some close games in the SEC schedule ought to have taught them that as well.

As for one-and-done, that’s the myth, but it hasn’t turned out to be true; in the championship season, two assumed one-and-dones came back for their sophomore seasons due to the NBA lockout, and UK had a good senior guard; it wasn’t all freshmen. This year, we actually have a sophomore-dominated team, with our best player being a junior; two-and-through, or three and flee? (Four is definitely out the door!)

That one’s not even close. Although I seem to recall her as a UK cheerleader this past fall during Kentucky’s visit to Columbia last fall. UK Motto: “Salad Bar? We Don’t Need No Stinkin’ Salad Bar!”

(Really. Try as I might to form some hostility toward our across the Mississippi neighbors, I just can’t. The (Evil) University of Kansas shall always be our rivals. It’s visceral, nay genetic.) Perhaps, it’s because there’s no bridge between our two fine states and the fact that you guys didn’t try to kill us during the 1860s.

    : )

Agreed. “One and Done” is an exaggeration, but it expresses a philosophy. I don’t say that to be critical. I know what college hoops have become, and in this day and age, one must play the hand one’s dealt. Calipari has done a masterful job of getting high quality players in for one or two years of competition.

I was there in 1983. A beautiful place.
The thing that struck me the most was seeing people standing at bus stops with an M-16 slung over their shoulder.
Not a bunch of people and not every bus stop but still, is was a reality check about how Israelis must live their lives.
