Best Mug Shot — Ever!

This is William Mattson, 52, of Conway, South Carolina, an evil pervert who got a thorough ass-kicking he certainly deserved.

Wait, I thought that was Harry Reid post accident?

Ace had this posted yesterday. It is a feel good story that should be shared.

McCain, you might want hold back on assuming this bloke is guilty. Wouldn’t be the first time a female cried rape when caught cheating.
    3 points raise my suspicions.
1 Nephew returned & heard moaning from the room. Who was moaning?
2 Uncle returned to house after police arrived – surely if he’d raped her he wouldn’t return with police car at house.
3 It’s her word against his – as we’ve seen lately (Lena Dunham, Rolling Stone), believing an alleged rape victim only on their word is dangerous & I would think most here would wish to presume innocence before guilt until conviction.

Everyone deserves a trial. Of course, presumption of innocence is a legal due process issue for a jury (not a requirement of the court of public opinion). It is possible that the Uncle was not guilty but I am going to defer to the police that they thought there was enough to charge him based on the circumstances they observed. Rape almost always goes to credibility unless there is an eye witness. We can only go by the story given here (I agree you could read it the way you are reading it).

But if Uncle gets caught diddling Nephew’s girlfriend, even if it is consensually, he deserves a good ass kicking by the Nephew anyway. So it is still a feel good story.

My favorite story of the year so far sets a very high bar: Florida Couple Spent Days In Unlocked Closet, Thought They Were Trapped

This is going to have to be a crazy year for anything to top that.

I liked that story a lot too, but I am pretty sure Florida can out crazy it! I have faith in Florida crazies.

Also, I’m not a doctor, but don’t those bruises look old??

Yes, I agree that even if it was consensual he deserved a beating. Uncles shouldn’t be doing that.

Hey, as Instapundit notes:Date Rape is a serious issue…

There are 2 stories: the one by the woman and the one by the uncle. The cops will almost always arrest under those circumstances unless they have very good evidence the woman is lying.

I’m not saying that this woman is lying, just that the only evidence cited in the linked stories is the woman’s say so. That’s not enough for me to confidently assert that the uncle must have done it.

Now if there is more – like if the woman has physical injuries consistent with rape – then that changes everything.

According to the Daily Mail, he was beaten while the cops were arresting him:
A suspected rapist was severely beaten by his nephew while being arrested by police.

William Mattson, 52, was being interviewed by detectives at the property in Conway, South Carolina, when his alleged victim’s boyfriend – also his nephew – attacked.

If that’s true, the cops should not have allowed it and should have arrested the nephew as well.

He’s already been sentenced and had the sentence carried out, might as well convict him.

Apparently this is going to be a crazy year. Why do they both have Florida connections?

There are parts of this story with which I have a problem.

A police report shows that the nephew had brought his girlfriend to his father’s house after the two had attended a New Year’s party. The nephew left and he told police he returned to hear moaning from outside the door of the room he shares with his girlfriend.

Uhhh, he’s shacked up with his girlfriend at his father’s house? What’s wrong with this picture?

And if the story had said that he heard her screaming or yelling or telling the uncle to get the Hell out, I’d have understood, but “moaning?”

You say “moan”, I say “Groan.” Sounds the same if you are covering someone’s mouth.

Lots of things seem funny about this story.
I still think that the bruises on this guy don’t look fresh.

I was unable to verify his amateur status on my phone. I can’t even find his name, since they’re really being discreet in the news reports. Maybe I can find out on my computer.

Dammit! I need to learn better ways of researching family trees, but I can confirm that they have some badass martial arts training right there.
