Don’t Do It, Ben Affleck!

Don’t make me take sides with Bill Maher!

Bill Maher and author and neuroscientist Sam Harris battled actor/director Ben Affleck on Real Time on Friday concerning Maher’s recent remarks criticizing Islam.
“Why are you so hostile about this?” Maher asked Affleck.
“It’s gross, it’s racist,” Affleck replied.
“It’s so not,” Maher insisted, though Affleck compared it to using the term, “Shifty Jew.”
“You’re not listening to what we are saying,” Maher insisted.
“You guys are saying, if you want to be liberal, believe in liberal principles,” Affleck said, referencing Maher’s monologue last week. “Like, we are endowed by our forefathers with inalienable rights, all men are created equal.”
Harris, who had complained about criticism of the Muslim religion being dismissed as Islamophobic, countered that liberals should be allowed to criticize bad ideas.
“Islam is the motherload of bad ideas,” Harris argued.
“Jesus,” Affleck said in frustration.
“That’s just a fact,” Maher said, backing Harris up. . . .
“It’s the only religion that acts like the mafia,” Maher said. “They will f*cking kill you if you say the wrong thing, draw the wrong picture, or write the wrong book.”

Bill Maher is one of the worst human beings on the planet. He is vile, despicable, loathsome. But is Ben Affleck worse?

What’s going on here, I think, is a generation gap between liberals. Affleck (42) is younger than Maher (58), and that totally explains the difference in their worldviews. Affleck is one of these young fools who, with no useful memory of Cold War history, has no real concept of what an existential threat to civilization really means. Maher, wretched amoral swine though he is, at least is old enough to look back at the 1970s and ’80s and say, “Thank God for the Gipper.”

Maher, before he came almost completely pot addled, used to talk about this. His patents BTW met serving in WWII. Afleck thinks it is ok to criticize Christianity but not Islam. He would deny it, but that’s the truth.

“Endowed by our FOREFATHERS”? Did he actually say that? If so, was it simple ignorance or willful deceit? Mostly, I am shocked that Affleck would allow such a sexist term to pass his otherwise pristine lips.

The thing that many people wish to ignore is that a religion is unlike race or ethnicity, in that a religion is a set of beliefs. That set of beliefs, for many, are much more complex than just whether or not we and our universe was created by a god or whether it all sprang from nothing. While it is all well and good to debate our origins and so forth, some people have very definite views on how the non-believers should be treated.

If you want to shake your head at me and think I’m going straight to hell, that is entirely different from the other kind of believer – the one who wants to dispatch me there for my sin of refusing to bend a knee to their god.

    I see the problem.

The problem is that verbs like “judge” and “discriminate” have lost their true meanings. Thanks to the postmodern affinity for declaring that truth does not exist and therefore value judgments are inherently false and ultimately demeaning to those judged, we now have reached a point where people are indiscriminate. They have become philosophically and intellectually incapable of truly seeing the evidence before their faces. It doesn’t surprise me that Affleck refuses to see the distinctions Harris and Maher are drawing. See that requires an intellectual capacity he no longer has.

All libtards are equally vile. They are, however, vile for different reasons, as Affleck has shown. Most libtards had a problem with recognizing what the Soviet Union really meant.

There were so many factually incorrect statements by Ben “Is it 9/10?” Affleck I don’t know where to begin. Let’s focus on this lie:

“But how about the more than a billion people, who aren’t fanatical…who just want to go to school…”

There are 1.2 billion Muslims. 25% of them were willing to admit in a poll that they support terrorism. That’s 300 million people, the equivalent of the entire population of the United States in the year 2001. On 9/11 the Muslim population, here and abroad, erupted in celebration.

The problem wish Islam isn’t fanatics. The problem with Islam is Islam.

The problem as I see it is that Prog/liberals have these “ideals” that they are absolutely positive everyone should live by. Unfortunately these ideals are not coherent.

Case in point: Tolerance. Progs promote tolerance of ideas and philosophy which is perfectly fine on the surface of it all. However, it is only the tolerance of those who believe in the Prog ideas and philosophy. It is more of the free speech for me but not for thee.
    ———-
If you believe something different than the Progs then the response is not a tell me more and let me understand you to see if you may be correct but a venomous semi -violent/violent response to shut up or destroy those who hold the different beliefs.

This may be trivial but election bumper stickers is a tip of the iceberg example. Progs put Obama stickers on their cars and drove them around like it was a mark of intelligence and enlightenment. The rest of us rolled our eyes and called it the mark of the idiot but that was it.

However if there was a Romney sticker on the car you took a very high risk of having your car keyed or it scraped off or defaced. The same went for posters in the yard. The Romney ones were many times pulled up and destroyed and I read of one man who was caught peeing on some.

Heaven forbid you don’t believe in global warming even if you believe in protecting the planet you have to tow the line and pay the elite Progs their carbon tax and scrape and bow while you do it.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFO0ayOz9FY
I think the Progs bought into all those 1960-70 utopia movies/tv shows where the enlightened over class (i.e. them) rule over the unenlightened under classes (peons – the rest of us) who do all the work unquestionably and gratefully following their higher learning orders. The problem is the Progs are in general a bunch of mor ons who couldn’t organize a bingo game or tie their own shoe laces.

Honestly, I think it’s as simple as understanding what the rules are… firstly “people groups”… then “minority and majority”… then “the minority is always subject to oppression, the majority is never subject to oppression.”

Affleck is trying to be a good guy. Good Guy rules mean that any hard feelings that might hurt a oppressable minority are vile racism. The weak must be protected.

Viewing the underclass, the unlucky, the poor, the unfortunate as automatically on the side of right is a very Western thing. It’s somewhat a Christian thing, at least at the roots of it. But Affleck comes by it honestly.

The funny part (as in ironic) is that this isn’t a part of middle eastern culture. It wasn’t even always part of Western culture. Jesus was asked who sinned? Why was the man born a cripple? Because *being* downtrodden, born crippled, or ending up poor has to have a reason that God or the gods don’t favor you… bottom line, for whatever reason, you deserve your lot in life, somehow. Either you sinned… your parents sinned… or you were a monster in a past life and are being punished for it. You. Deserve. Your. Fate.

In the West we tend to operate on opposite principles. If you’re oppressed or persecuted or life has been bad for you… you somehow get the assumption of worthiness and nobility.

This stuff is *bone deep*… we don’t even really see it, it is so taken for granted.

Progs like Affleck aim to “protect” the “oppressed minority” from words and ideas. Only. It’s like this. If you see someone getting beaten up in public, who intervenes? If anyone, it’s probably the conservative the majority of the time. The progs either don’t want to get involved, are the ones participating in it, or the ones streaming the attack to youtube. But boy, just whip out on a statement like “homosexuality is a sin”, and every prog in the vicinity goes crazy.

What Affleck and the rest of the Tolerists can’t get through their heads is that the “Western movie” that is Islam has no “white hat parts”. There are a bunch of “black hat parts” and maybe a few “grey hat parts” but the majority of the cast play the part of the “cattle”.

Online, the main criticism of Affleck focused on his apoplexy. And they were right: Affleck flailed around, making emotional half-arguments and looking on in stunned disbelief that any liberal could be saying these things.
It appears that the generational gap between liberals has also highlighted the degradation of leftist thought.
I’ve noticed this myself. Marxists of old would philosophize and theorize. They had more (book-) learning in their little fingers than the ignoramuses on the left today have in their whole bodies (even though they were still wrong).
My, how the mighty have fallen.

If you ever read Nietzsche’s “Geneology of Morals” he traces the inversion of values you’re talking about to the Jews. Suddenly it wasn’t the rich, strong, and powerful that were to be exalted, but rather the poor, meek, and starving due to their lot as slaves of Egypt, and later under Roman occupation. The powerful were now evil, and we see this line of thinking played out all through Judaism, and later Christianity. Odd how similar this is to Marxist thought. What you’re describing(that your lot is the result of se inherent flaw, or past life transgression) is more a product of polytheism where the Gods rewarded strength, and power, and punished weakness.

““Like, we are endowed by our forefathers with inalienable rights, all men are created equal.”

    UN-alienable vs. IN-alienable Rights:

“Unalienable: incapable of being alienated, that is, sold and transferred.” Black’s Law Dictionary, Sixth Edition, page 1523:

You can not surrender, sell or transfer unalienable rights, they are a gift from the creator to the individual and can not under any circumstances be surrendered or taken. All individual’s have unalienable rights.

Inalienable rights: Rights which are not capable of being surrendered or transferred without the consent of the one possessing such rights. Morrison v. State, Mo. App., 252 S.W.2d 97, 101.

I reckon that the olde addage “Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.” applies to Mr. Maher although 12hrs on his clock = 365 days.

Afleck is a Liberal, and like all good Liberals, he HATES Christians with a passion.

He also hates America, everything that made America great, and everything that America used to stand for. That’s why, despite the obvious fact that muslims given the slightest opportunity would kill any liberal that they could, Liberals support Islam. Muslims HATE America too, and the enemy of my enemy…
