No trigger warning on the Windows 9 story? You know I’m on heart meds! No coverage for the Bali suitcase murder? The Golfer in Chief will get involved. The killer is the biracial daughter of a Chicago socialite, she’s pregnant (though we see pictures of her smoking ), she’s been molested in jail and those racist bastards offered her KFC! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2728791/Revealed-The-case-against-teenager-killed-U-S-socialite-mother-Bali-help-boyfriend.html

I’ve seen articles on it, but I generally leave the Police Gazette stuff to Stacy since it doesn’t really fir the format of Live at Five.

Partially quoted from link: “Whenever Threshold makes an appearance, it’s expected to come with a wide range of improvements, including a “mini” Smart Menu, separate windows for Metro-style applications running on the desktop, …support for virtual desktops”, as well as NSA-friendly access, keyloggers and Microsoft’s new MSInventory privacy-enhancing tool, which backs up the contents of internal harddrives and external USB devices across your entire home network to an undisclosed server location.

Not only doesn’t it fir the format, but it also, as a bonus, doesn’t fit it, either.

I’m getting a ‘403 Forbidden’ when I click on the image, K-Bob.

All I know is that I finally moved from XP on an old 32-bit, single-core computer to WIN8.1 and Office 2013, running on a quad-core, 64bit, modern processor with ten times the RAM of my XP machine…
And I feel like I’m back in 1995, trying to get Word 5 to load a document with over fifteen pages.
It’s…..sooooo….freaking………sloowwwww
It boots up reeel fast, though! Just don’t try to get any work done.

Interesting. Looks like a new behavior of Disqus.
I right clicked on the image from a comment to save the URL, and instead of the source URL, it gave me the Disqus CDN link, which is blocked if you ain’t usin’ it rite.
So now to use an image inside a Disqus comment, you have to click on the image to get taken to the proper URL.
This will stay in effect for ohh, the next six or eight days, till they change it all again.
Thanks for that. Now I know!

Huh.
When I was your age, we had to copy pixels by mapping the color levels one bit at a time.
With a breakout box.
In a dark room so we could read the cancer-causing CRT display.
But we could smoke and drink coffee right there in the lab.
*wet-sounding cough*

Ugh, I hate typos. Fixed.

Office 2013? There’s your problem right there. Office XP runs just fine under Windows 8; it’s what I use on the Satellite of Love (my Toshiba laptop) when I’m on the road or my Gateway Desktop is on the fritz.

This is why if I want to share a pic I’ll either download it or stick a copy in Picasa.

Oh. Well you probably want it to work, then. Me, I like to wrestle with the imaginary interface in whatever passes for a “platform” these days.
I’m the guy who spends hours figuring out that you have to run the extra grounding wire that the now-dead product engineer left behind as an exercise for the reader.

Yeah, it still runs great on my XP box. Trouble is, I no longer have the time to keep dealing with people who send me new versions of Excel files.
I managed to make it livable by turning off every form of animation in the thing, and staying the hell away from the “backstage” view. When you open that up (which is the default for all file operations) it’s so damn slow it loses typeahead.
It’s a disaster, frankly. But I’ve been here before with each jump up in levels of these products. It always takes two years to make them bearable.
