The #HobbyLobby Hysteria

Years ago, while reporting on federally funded research — the infamous “porn arousal” studies at Northwestern University — I developed what I like to think of as the Existential Theory of Liberalism: To a liberal, nothing exists unless it is mandated, subsidized and/or regulated by the federal government.
If you think it is a waste of taxpayer money to give a creepy psychology professor a federal grant to measure women’s sexual arousal to pornography, you will be condemned as “anti-sex.” If you want to reduce deficit spending by limiting tax money for the National Endowment of the Arts, you’re “anti-art.” Don’t agree with proposed EPA environmental regulations? You’re “anti-science.”
The reaction to today’s Supreme Court decision in the Hobby Lobby case — where a business objected, as a matter of religious liberty, to ObamaCare’s mandated insurance coverage for contraceptives — is a case in point: Liberals want us to believe that, unless businesses are compelled by federal law to provide contraception to their employees, contraception will cease to exist.
Feminists are saying lots of stupid stuff about #HobbyLobby today. Tomorrow, feminists will say lots of stupid stuff about something else.

Their arguments are absurd, but if liberals were capable of understanding facts and logic, they wouldn’t be liberals, would they?

LOL Sadly theses feminists are woefully clueless as how how stupid they sound and are

I am glad Hobby Lobby got decided the way it was, but it is less big than people imagine. Yeah, corporations that are closely held by a family can be treated as that family. Great. What the proponents of ObamaCare miss that this was not the same as a tax case where you pay taxes for things you might disagree with. In that case, too bad, that is how govnerment works. You do not get a personal line item veto of the budget.
But here Hobby Lobby was being compelled to support something it opposed. And the court said, with a lot of limitations, that was too far. So now any Hobby Lobby employees (because you know those Hobby Lobby employees are such sluts) will have to go to Target and get their contraception at about $9 a month.
Roberts is still dead to me. He should have (dare I say) ended ObamaCare in late term procedure two years ago.

Yes, but you forget that Things I Want for leftists are Rights(TM) and therefore should be paid for by Somebody Else. Actual Natural Rights enshrined by the Constitution? RACIST/SEXIST/CISHETERONORMATIVEWHITEPATRIARCHYYYYYYYYY!!!1!!1!
I’m thinking these people are psychopaths. The only emotion they can feel now is RIGHTEOUS OUTRAEG.
June 30th, 2014 @ 1:55 pm
As we noted a while ago, the contraception mandate will make contraception cost more, not less. When you make what was effectively a cash transaction something covered by insurance, the steps to bill insurance companies and have insurance companies then pay pharmacies all cost money.

Also loving SCOTUSblog’s snarky replies to the idiots who thought that was the official SCOTUS blog. What’s almost as funny is all the crazies who are whining about how it’s “not funny”, but jokes about dead children are high-lar-ious!
Ah well, when you’re ugly, stupid, and in possession of a rancid and unlikeable personality, all you have left to keep from drinking yourself to death is your RIGHTEOUS OUTRAEG, I suppose.

I think the feminazis ought to sterilize themselves. Ain’t no kid needs Fraulein Barbie the Concentration Camp Nurse as a mom anyways.
I’m sure Hobby Lobby is quaking in their boots that the Domestic Dykes Knitting and Crafting Club will be boycotting the store.
June 30th, 2014 @ 2:02 pm
Planned Parenthood said that birth control costs between $15 and $50 per month. If a woman can’t afford that, how can she afford sterilization?

I think Roberts is consumed by the idea of what his legacy will be.

Look on the bright side, most Trannies (post op) and Lesbians don’t need birth control.
June 30th, 2014 @ 2:27 pm
Note that it wasn’t contraception that was the issue but “Morning After” abortifacient drugs. Prevent pregnancy: OK. Terminate a pregnancy: Not OK…
June 30th, 2014 @ 2:47 pm
Good point. We obviously need government-funded sterilization clinics.
Considering who we’re talking about sterilizing, that’s a proposal I could get behind.
June 30th, 2014 @ 2:50 pm
Roberts’ legacy was blown after the Obamacare decision. He will forever be remembered, in infamy, for that tortured decision.
June 30th, 2014 @ 2:52 pm
I am officially promoting the theory that liberals are insane to the status of fact.
Actually, I did that in 2011 when the left blamed Sarah Palin for getting shot in the face by a man who didn’t even see her campaign literature. You cannot reason with those who are unreasonable. Don’t even try.
June 30th, 2014 @ 2:52 pm
BTW, great and appropriate choice of words, “hysteria.”
They really are getting the vapors now.
June 30th, 2014 @ 3:43 pm
Chickens laying in your pasture?
Or, perhaps, cow pies LYING in your pasture?

Yes, the etymology is patriarchal — HATER!
June 30th, 2014 @ 4:22 pm
I think the ladies who are contemplating sterilizing themselves due to the Hobby Lobby decision … should go right ahead with that plan. Do not pass on the stupid.
June 30th, 2014 @ 4:26 pm
Oh, they weren’t illogical at all; they knew exactly what they were doing.
June 30th, 2014 @ 4:27 pm
Yes, he punted and that may be his legacy unless/until something better comes along. OTOH, at least progs can’t say we never gave it a (more than) fair shot and can’t posit bullshit abstract fantasy scenarios about how it MIGHT have worked if only the eeevil Republican USSC hadn’t blocked it. And, yes, they’ll do that anyway, but the progs have lost a lot of credibility. It’s just unfortunate that the American public keeps having to learn that lesson at the expense of the Working Class (people with jobs).
June 30th, 2014 @ 4:44 pm
Well it stinks worse than fresh chicken poop and it is bigger than a cow pie.

Consolation for Liberals: Hobby Lobby still has to make a same sex wedding cake.
June 30th, 2014 @ 7:25 pm
In theory, I agree: it’s too bad people have to get burned to learn this lesson.
In practice, the short generational memory of every society is why we keep having to “water the tree of liberty with the blood of tyrants and patriots.”
June 30th, 2014 @ 7:45 pm
Ah yes, I can’t tell you how thoroughly I enjoyed exposing a leftist for the sick bastard he was because of that bit of liberal “logic”. It was real fun having him tell me to take my gun and shoot somebody (keep in mind I said nothing that even hinted of violence towards anyone) because it meant I got to rub that right back in his face.
June 30th, 2014 @ 7:49 pm
I’ve been running under the assumption for quite some time now that the reason they haven’t sterilized themselves already is because they still want the ability to get the feminist abortion badge. I do hope this whole brouhaha results in mass self-sterilization. They don’t want kids, I don’t want them to have kids. It’s win-win however you want to look at it.
June 30th, 2014 @ 8:54 pm
“Tomorrow, feminists will say lots of stupid stuff about something else”
Na, they’ll still be saying stupid stuff about their vaginas, choice, sex-ins, and other things related to Sebelius v Hobby Lobby, just with new unhinged talking points, till at least the end of Saturday, since they’ll use July 4th for “reproductive freedom”, ie, someone else has to pay for their Bad Choices While Liquored Up.
June 30th, 2014 @ 9:25 pm
I agree; those tweets to SCOTUSBlog (and their laconic replies) are some of the funniest things I’ve seen on the internet in a while.
June 30th, 2014 @ 9:26 pm
You wouldn’t know that to read the BS spouting from Bernie Sanders, Fauxcahontas, and NARAL (BIRM) on Facebook today.
June 30th, 2014 @ 9:40 pm
Damn it’s like being trapped on a escalator that stopped moving liberals have no clue they can just walk down.
How hard is it to buy one’s own cancer causing birth control pills
June 30th, 2014 @ 9:45 pm
Mrs Z tried the pill once but there was a bit of a problem—it kept falling out…
June 30th, 2014 @ 10:21 pm
The stupid is pretty impressive
June 30th, 2014 @ 10:41 pm
A lot of insurance historically covered birth control; because most co-pays are at least $10, the net effect is that the woman was paying for it herself. Except of course, Sandra Fluke, who wanted designer birth control. I think it’s $9 at Target and $4 at walmart
June 30th, 2014 @ 10:44 pm
Operator error; you’re meant to put it between your knees and hold it there.

“I don’t want to pay for YOUR contraception” =
“religious crazies”???? Not seeing the logic there, but then again, they don’t need logic, all they need is an entitlement.
Are these beyotches working for Hobby Lobby, so that they have any say in the matter? What do they care? It’s extremely doubtful that anybody this stupid would actually be in a position to be doing anything that requires contraception anyway.
