Bloodbath in Iraq

The terrorists are slaughtering their prisoners:

BAGHDAD — The United States said Sunday it was evacuating some staff from its embassy and beefing up security as deadly explosions rocked the Iraqi capital and advancing militant Islamic insurgents released graphic images appearing to show its fighters massacring captured Iraqi soldiers. . . .
The development came as photos posted on a militant website show what look to be masked fighters of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant loading captives onto flatbed trucks before forcing them to lie face-down in a shallow ditch with their arms tied behind their backs. The bodies of the captives are then shown, soaked in blood after being shot.
The Associated Press said the images were verified and were consistent with its reporting. Iraq’s top military spokesman, Lt. Gen. Qassim al-Moussawi, confirmed the authenticity of the photos Sunday and said he was aware of cases of mass murder of Iraqi soldiers.

The London Telegraph has a round-up of Iraq news. It’s very bad.

They are telling us how we should treat them?

As for Iraq again, Shiite troops will be less likely to surrender next time.

The administration will dither until there’s nothing left to save, then tell us, “there’s nothing left to save.”

I think we are headed to partition in Iraq. The country was originally 3 provinces under the Ottoman Empire. The Brits cobbled the country together after WW1, and botched it, as usual. The Turks were onto something, that Bush and company ignored.

The vast majority of American deaths and injuries in Iraq were at the hands of the Sunnis such as those who are now committing bloody atrocities on a daily basis as part of ISIS.

It smacks of foreign propaganda to claim that Iran is mostly to blame when that is, in fact, demonstrably false.

My carpet bombing idea and Bob B’s idea of making the country a glass-topped parking lot is looking better and better.

I bet the rest of them would straighten right up!

    Reading comprehension problem?

The attacks were carried out by Sunnis with bombs supplied by Iran. Douglas’ article doesn’t say what you claim it does.

The article’s a joke. An absolute joke.

It takes a small window of the conflict and attempts to use that small-window as somehow representative of the larger conflict.

In truth, about 80% of the US casualties in Iraq occurred in Sunni provinces where the weapons were most definitely not supplied by Iran.

Douglas’ article, which dances on the graves of dead Americans to advance a foreign political agenda, is one of the most vile pieces of propaganda that I’ve ever read.

Your ad hominems don’t change the fact that the Douglas article is essentially foreign propaganda piece and and a vile insult to those who gave their lives and their limbs in Iraq.

Every veteran of Iraq should be outraged that you so callously dance upon the graves of their comrades for the purpose of advancing a foreign political agenda.

Sunni/Shia is a red herring, really. The US switches support between them to maintain chaos in the region.

We should also partition Iran and Turkey while we’re at it.

Take Kurdistan away from Turkey and Syria, and put it together with the main body of Kurdistan. The Kurds will tend to their own knitting and leave others alone, methinks.

There is a lot to be said for partitioning Iran. It also has a small part of Kurdistan, but there are several other “Stans” that should be sheared off. Africa would benefit from much the same type of thing.
