In Which @TuckerCarlson Encounters the Feminist Meaning of Equality

Progressives insist that this is “sexism”:
Fox News host Tucker Carlson on Thursday lamented that Americans are “whiny” about statutory rape and that when it comes to rape, boys are different than girls.
While discussing the recent case in New York, in which a female teacher has been charged with rape for allegedly having sex with a 16-year-old student, Carlson refused to believe that it should be considered rape.
“It’s ludicrous that we are calling this a rape. Are you serious?” Carson asked on Fox News’ “Outnumbered.” “I’ll tell you what’s wrong to this extent — he went and tattled to the police and destroyed her life. Are you joking? What a whiny country this is.”
Carlson went on to explain that underaged boys are not rape victims, especially if they chased after the older woman.
“You’re this boy, and all of a sudden you’re a rape victim? You pursue an older woman, and have a relationship with her, and you’re a rape victim?” he said. “It defies common sense. And anybody who’s being honest with himself knows exactly what I’m talking about. We all have to pretend.” . . .
When the female panelists on Outnumbered called out Carlson, arguing that he was furthering a double standard, he fully accepted that.
“Of course it’s a double standard! All standards are double standards,” he said. “Because it depends completely on the sex of a child. And if it’s a girl, it’s different from if it’s boy. And we have to pretend that’s not true?”
Tucker Carlson is actually expressing his own misunderstanding of the purpose of such laws. Why do parents send their children to school? What job are teachers paid to do? Certainly, I don’t want my children (male or female) to be molested by a teacher (male or female) and as a matter of law, it is irrelevant whether any particular minor in such a situation believes himself or herself to be a victim.
Furthermore, the advance of feminist “equality” and “liberation” means that women now are more likely to be aggressive perverts than was true 30 or 40 years ago. If a women’s studies major at Duke University can justify her porn career as feminist “empowerment,” certainly female teachers who crave the taste of boy flesh can (and do) find similar justification in the egalitarian rhetoric of feminism.
But maybe Tucker Carlson hasn’t been paying attention, eh?

My interest in this story was in relation to the George Will column. Carlson laments that this boy ruined this woman’s life. Well, she got a trial unlike the young men who attend colleges and universities across this nation.

Tucker Carlson is actually expressing his own misunderstanding of the purpose of such laws.
I would say that at least a part of that misunderstanding – certainly not exclusive to Tucker Carlson – comes from the stupidity of labeling something that is not rape, as rape. Of course, with some, this is entirely intentional. They prefer to ramp up the stigmatization of some behavior by labeling it as something it is not. Simply call it what it is – unlawful sex. But, it is not rape. It is nothing like rape.
There is a reason that the jokes occur about men wishing something similar had happened to them when they were in school, and most normal people don’t get all offended when they hear the jokes. Because what actually occurred is very different from some man using force to get what he wants from a weaker woman. Most people don’t make, or laugh at, jokes about actual rape. Nobody finds rape to be a laughing matter.
That is not to say that teachers should not be prohibited by law from having sex with their students. But if you label that crime as something that reflects what it is, then people will be less likely to brush it off as not really rape, so not really a problem.
I also believe that while it makes sense to criminalize the behavior, it should be the kind of thing that is punished by a slap on the wrist, at least as far as prison or the like, but that it would also mean an end to the teaching career of the offender. If it was consensual, it is ridiculous to be sending someone to prison for a decade, for example.

It is not rape in a forced way, yet it is wrong. Of course the law recognizes that with different degrees of criminal liability. It is a form of child abuse when it is consensual (be it male or female) but the teen is not legally capable of giving consent. It should be criminal and should be appropriately punished, but I do get the argument that the name “rape” actually gets in the way of treating it properly.
I am referring of course to children 14 to 16 years old. Younger than that should be deemed rape.

“Rape is a type of sexual assault usually involving sexual intercourse or other forms sexual penetration initiated against one or more individuals without the consent of those individuals. The act may be carried out by physical force, coercion, abuse of authority or against a person who is incapable of valid consent, such as one who is unconscious, incapacitated, or below the legal age of consent.[1][2][3][4] The term rape is sometimes used interchangeably with the term sexual assault.[5]

Boys are just as likely to be caught up in human trafficking as girls. But it is the girls who garner the attention and for that reason boys are considered a ‘hidden population.’Mister Carlson expresses an all to common belief that boys can’t be victims. They enjoy it therefore they aren’t harmed. Carlson also is blind to the epic number of women teachers who are predators. The school that inspired ‘Friday Night Lights’ had five teachers resign in the last year over allegations of sexual misconduct with students. Four of the five were women.Boys can’t be victims, she’s too pretty for prison; these ideas in the minds of citizens are putting boys in our schools at greater risk for sexual predation, not that mister Carlson would care.

Yeah, that whole thing where pretending that someone was forced when they actually consented, based on the ever changing “age of consent” – that was my whole point. Your providing a dictionary definition of the word rape doesn’t really advance the discussion.
June 13th, 2014 @ 10:44 pm
Human trafficking? What utter nonsense. This story has absolutely nothing to do with human trafficking. There are times where that issue comes into play; this just isn’t one of them.
June 13th, 2014 @ 11:53 pm
By logical extension, you support sex between adults and “consenting” 8 year olds.
June 13th, 2014 @ 11:54 pm
You and your NAMBLA pals always get antsy on this topic.

Carlson is a joke. How he has survived all these years is beyond me. I suspect CNN and other leftist networks liked him as presenting an image of conservatives as dorks, but why would the guy who financed Daily Caller or Fox bother with him?

Fuck you. I have no association whatsoever with NAMBLA nor do I support anything they are involved with. Nothing I said here even suggests that. When a 16 yo student has sex with a teacher, how has any “human trafficking” taken place? Who paid who? You’re an idiot.
June 14th, 2014 @ 2:30 am
No, I did not say that. I said there is a difference between forcing someone and seducing them, and the language we use should reflect that. Someone who seduces an 8 yo old should be criminally prosecuted, as should someone who rapes an 8 yo. However, those 2 acts are different. The criminals will be treated differently under the law, and it is STUPID to use the same words to describe the two different acts.
June 14th, 2014 @ 3:33 am
You are the one who put human trafficking into this case, the post which mentioned that was explaining the general situation.
If you reject age of consent, you are in concurrence with NAMBLA. That is just a fact. But it is also the fact that this is the law, and there is no popular movement to overturn these laws – except you and NAMBLA, of course.
You have to understand that when you undertake to defend these “purist” libertarian – not classical liberal, btw, we have not discussed that at all, and it is entirely different from you libertines – positions, you put yourself in a distinct and tiny minority which society at large rightly considers perverted.
June 14th, 2014 @ 5:09 am
You seem to have reading comprehension problems.
1. I did not bring up human trafficking in this thread – the first mention of that phrase (or concept) was Kirby McCain. I expressed my disagreement that this case had anything at all to do with that.
2. I never advocated doing away with age of consent laws. I opined that it is a mistake, by society in general, to label sex between an adult and a minor as a form of rape. The original piece starts out with Carlson objecting to calling what took place a rape. A 16 yo male teenager who succeeds in seducing his female teacher has not been raped. The teacher obviously broke the law and there need to be consequences, but disagreeing about what to call the crime is not the same as saying that it shouldn’t be a crime.
3. You seem also confused about the age of consent laws in this country. In the majority of states, the age of consent is less then 18. In 30 states (plus DC), the age of consent is 16. In 8 states, the age of consent is 17. In only 12 states is the age of consent 18. Had the particular case under discussion took place in one of the 30 states where the AoC is set at 16, instead of New York, then it wouldn’t have been a crime. At least it wouldn’t have been that crime. It is true that even in many of the states where the AoC is lower, it is still a crime for a teacher to seduce a student even if the student is of age.
Your insistence on continuing to introduce NAMBLA to this discussion shows that you are incapable of debating the issue in good faith. NAMBLA is an organization of homos who what to legalize their abuse of young boys. I have not said anything like that. If you think I have, please provide a direct quote. I know you won’t (and can’t), because you have dishonestly been attributing to me positions that I do not hold.

Have the feminists started to savage Tucker yet?
June 14th, 2014 @ 12:35 pm
I think that most of us see that the problem with rape, including statutory rape, is not what happens in the genitalia, except for pregnancy, of course, but the damage inside the head of the victim. This is unknowable, but we can see how it would be probably as severe in a boy as in a girl.
Violent rape leaves a residue of fear. Statutory rape leaves behind confusion, in girls and in boys. Talk to some of the adult victims. You’ll soon enough hear the stories.
June 14th, 2014 @ 2:02 pm
Yes, of course they have.

How would Carlson respond to his teen son engaging in a relationship with a male teacher?
