Having previously noted a guy who got fired — fired! — for a Tweet — a Tweet! — now we can report that a black Christian minister may lose his day job in California because of his sermons:

Pasadena city officials placed Public Health Director Eric Walsh on temporary paid administrative leave Thursday after they learned of controversial statements he had made about homosexuality and evolution in online videos and audio clips.
In sermons uploaded to various websites, Walsh, a Seventh-day Adventist preacher, calls evolution “a religion created by Satan,” compares Disney to a “dark empire” of superstition and witchcraft, and criticizes homosexuality.
Walsh’s comments came to the city’s attention after he replaced Oscar-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black as Pasadena City College’s commencement speaker, said city spokesman William Boyer.
College officials said they replaced Black because they found stolen photographs of him and an ex-boyfriend engaged in sexual acts on Internet gossip sites, according to the school newspaper, the PCC Courier.
“With the porno professor and the sex scandals we’ve had on campus this last year, it just didn’t seem like the right time for Mr. Black to be the speaker,” PCC Board of Trustees President Anthony Fellow told the Courier.
Fellow was referring to former professor Hugo Schwyzer, who invited adult film stars to speak in a class on pornography and admitted to affairs with his students.
In a letter to the school newspaper, Black accused college administrators of attempting to shame him for his sexuality. He urged students to speak out, and soon a member of the group Students for Social Justice found some of Walsh’s videos online.
“We very quickly realized that there were a lot of communities that would be offended by Dr. Walsh,” said Sarah Belknap, a fourth-year student and member of Students for Social Justice.
The group compiled a list of Walsh’s controversial public statements, then published excerpts on Facebook and emailed them to media outlets.
“We were just so shocked that he was saying these things,” said Kelly Camacho, another student in the group. “This was even worse, to have this person as [Black’s] replacement, of all people.”

“Of all people”! In case you don’t know, Dustin Lance Black’s name has been mentioned in connection with the Hollywood pedophile scandal swirling around X-Men director Bryan Singer. Just “mentioned,” I say, and any suspicion of criminal activity is only a matter of allegations at this point. However, a notorious fondness for gay sex with teenage boys is less controversial in California now than, say, being a Christian who believes that homosexuality is a sin.

Obviously, “Students for Social Justice” prefers the boy-banging Hollywood guy to the black Christian preacher and, in raising a ruckus about it, managed to get the black guy suspended from his job — yeah, that’s a big win for “Social Justice” there.

    You still vomiting up your ignorance as you insult others who actually know something? When you’re challenged on your lies and absolute disrespect for the truth, you respond by projecting your ignorance on the accuser and then ignore the challenge to produce evidence of your ideological stand.

    You shared fractured history with you fellow conservatives, and they believe your lies and distortions because they want to. In particular, your claim that you have some ideological lineage with Lincoln and claim him as one of your party’s founding fathers is preposterous. The only thing you share with Lincoln is that you both call yourself Republicans. Had you lived in the time of Lincoln, he would have sent one of his generals out to either bayonet, shoot or hang you. You almost certainly would have become a registered Democrat. You ignored my challenge to prove that you and people like you have any lineage that can be traced to the Emancipation Proclamation. Volumes of literature proves, unequivocally, that you are much more like a 19th and 20th century, southern Democrat. Better start reading. You can start with this, one of hundreds that can be googled addressing the subject. You’ve obviously had some bad experiences with your higher education phase. God I loved having people like you register for my college classes! I’d get to flunk ’em, and do the taxpayer a favor.

    Your right to freedom of speech doesn’t mean you will be consequence free from those of us who also have that right. You have the right to say what you please, and deal with the fall out from it as well. No one said free speech was an easy thing, we simply agree it is a necessary one. You want to preach hate? You have that right. I also have that right to call you a bigot and say I don’t want you to teach it to MY children. Don’t like it? Move to a city that tolerates bigotry no questions asked and stay off the internet. Otherwise, suck it up Princess.

    Well, if you had actually read what I said. ( I am assuming you know how to and chose not too since you can type) I said:

    see that word BOTH in there? It means it includes each of the men. So, I will now say it in small words that are easier to comprehend for you.

    Both men are bad choices. Find someone else who isn’t public relations nightmare.

    I understand clearly, without the need to draw attention to your intelligence in anyway whatsoever, that you not only fear but condemn moral speech. Or perhaps it’s merely free speech that you dislike.

    The situation is kinda like this: Should Sheryl be fired from whatever job she holds because her employer dislikes the opinions she expresses here?

    If you answer NO you agree with me. If you answer SURE, WHY NOT you agree with Pasadena officials.

    It depends on the job. If I am working with children and I express an opinion based on my religious viewpoints that disparages those same children and causes emotional issues? Yes, I should be removed from that position.

    If what I say has no impact on my job then no. I.E. Being fired from your job because someone finds out you are Jewish, but it doesn’t change your job description, how you do your work or your work environment. That is discrimination. Being fired from your job because you go online on video and proclaim everyone except Jews are evil, immoral, horrible people and only Jews are going to heaven, That anyone who isn’t Jewish should immediately convert to save their souls or they are unclean, need to be purged if they cannot be converted and are not to be dealt with….and most of your companies clients are not Jewish? Common sense here.

    I guarantee that the children I raised had a wider worldview than any you did. I also guarantee that they were raised with a respect for other cultures and beliefs that you still struggle with.

    I do not teach hate, and if you do, rest assured I will fight with my last breath to keep you from spreading it to innocents.
