House Democrats and the IRS Cover-Up

Headline by Katie Pavlich at Townhall:
BREAKING: Emails Show Lois Lerner
Fed True the Vote Tax Information
to Democrat Elijah Cummings
Details from Eliana Johnson at National Review:
The war between Oversight Committee chairman Darrell Issa and the committee’s ranking member, Elijah Cummings, rages on.
Issa on Wednesday accused the Maryland Democrat of colluding with the Internal Revenue Service in its targeting of the conservative nonprofit group True the Vote . . .
In a letter signed by his five subcommittee chairmen, Issa raised the possibility that Cummings coordinated with the IRS, “surreptitiously” contacting the agency to request information about True the Vote.
E-mails unearthed in the course of Issa’s investigation into the IRS’s inappropriate targeting of right-leaning groups show that in January 2013, a member of Cummings’s staff contacted the IRS asking for any publicly available information on True the Vote. The matter was discussed by IRS officials that included Lois Lerner, the former exempt-organizations chief who retired in the wake of the targeting scandal. One of Lerner’s deputies, Holly Paz, subsequently sent the organization’s 990 forms to Cummings and his staff — not an illegal disclosure of taxpayer information, though sources say the exchange of such information was not routine.
More documents are available at the Oversight Committee web page. Remember what I said yesterday:
My interpretation is that Democrats who have repeated claims that there was no political bias in the IRS are essentially part of a cover-up effort. And make no mistake: There was (and still is) a cover-up.
Elijah Cummings is a corrupt liar. Which is to say, he is a Democrat.

I’m sure he meant well. I’ve heard the ever so staunchly conservative Trey Gowdy himself say he likes the man very much personally.

I said on the last Bridge Gate blog, it was trivial compared to the administration using the IRS as its personal attack dog.

Know this: No one will be punished for this, even though if your average H&R Block tax preparer would have done the same, s/he would go to prison. Such disparities are not going unnoticed.

Nothing to see here. Not a whiff of corruption.
LMFAO

Among Democrats, Elijah Cummings is a hero for doing what predecessors were too scared to do – use the power of the state to attack the domestic enemies of the Progressives. To 25% of America, Issa’s accusation is the equivalent of a Medal of Honor, and Cummings’s family and friends will reap the benefits for a couple of generations. Being corrupt pays handsomely. But the evil in this story is the mid-level IRS managers who either did nothing when evil was done, or participated without reference to their oath to the People. Cummings couldn’t help himself because he’s a Democrat. But the Civil Servants? Find them out, shame them, punish them for generations.

It certainly explains why Cummings has been so desperate to block the investigation.
I suspect it won’t be the last evidence of his and other Democratic members of the House and Senate encouraging IRS to violate our rights.

This appears to have slipped by unnoticed, or at least unreported: on his visit to Saudi Arabia, Obama was supposed to have a private 2 hour meeting and have dinner with the King of Saudi Arabia. This was on his schedule and reported in the advances for the trip.
But the King evidently invited Obama to leave after the meeting, revoking the dinner invitation. Obama’s Administration has been systematically scrubbing any reference to the dinner from their websites and Twitter feed, and their dutiful lapdogs in MSM haven’t mentioned it.

Sorry for the OT post. I tried to at least be more succinct than Anamika.

The statute of limitation for most of the criminal acts is five years, and this was still going on at least into 2013, so there will be a window for prosecution after that Day of Glory, January 20, 2017.
I’m betting Obama grants a shi’ite-load of pardons on his last day. Will Lerner be on the list, or left under the bus?

You’re coherent in your posts, Adjoran. That alone puts you light years ahead of Anamika.

And that was a fascinating read! Thanks for the link.
And not very surprising, either. Obama is incompetent.

Though we are all supposed to believe W was a walking foreign policy nightmare. Regardless of whether you agreed with him on anything or not (I had many issues with his presidency), you have to admit that these things didn’t seem to happen to him; if they had, CNN and MSNBC would have had days-long reports to rival that of the missing plane on how Bush totally screwed us internationally. As it is, I don’t recall him ever being disinvited to something, just lots of news stories about how everybody hated us Americans because he was a stupid cowboy who said “nucular”.

This entire issue is being stage managed to maximize outrage among the hoi polloi, while not actually doing anything that might rile the Bureaucratic class, or upset the cash cow that the Ruling class milk daily.
Nuke it from orbit, it’s the only way to be sure.

So let me see if I have this straight : Goddamned lying scumbag Congress-critters (which is to say *DEMOCRATS*) weaponized the IRS for use against nutless, cowardly, spineless weasels (which is to say *REPUBLICANS*) who won’t do fark-all to stop it.
Have I got it right, or do I need to get a different program to tell the players apart?

WTF is wrong with Gowdy? First he comes out for Amnesty and now this stupidity.
