Palin Vindicated on Russia, Ukraine: ‘I Could See This One From Alaska’

Posted on | March 1, 2014 | 34 Comments

She who laughs last:

Sarah Palin may be having a bragging rights moment.
In 2008, when she was the GOP vice presidential nominee, Palin questioned in a speech whether then-Sen. Barack Obama would have the foreign policy credentials to handle a scenario in which Russian President Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine.
“After the Russian army invaded the nation of Georgia, Senator Obama’s reaction was one of indecision and moral equivalence — the kind of response that would only encourage Russia’s Putin to invade Ukraine next,” she said in Reno, Nevada on October 21, 2008.
The former Alaska governor was happy to highlight her prediction on Friday and scold those who criticized her 2008 comments.
“Yes, I could see this one from Alaska,” she said on Facebook. That remark was a reference to a 2008 interview in which Palin argued that Alaska’s proximity to Russia helped boost her foreign policy experience.
Saturday Night Live parodied her remarks in a now-famous sketch with Tina Fey, who played Palin on the show, saying “I can see Russia from my house.”
On Facebook, Palin continued to explain how she anticipated a growing crisis between Russia and Ukraine, where there has now been an uncontested arrival of Russian military forces by air at a Russian base in Ukraine’s Crimea region. They are believed to be Russian land forces, according to a U.S. assessment.
“I’m usually not one to Told-Ya-So, but I did, despite my accurate prediction being derided as ‘an extremely far-fetched scenario’ by the ‘high-brow’ Foreign Policy magazine.”

And while Vladimir Putin was reportedly sending 2,000 paratroopers to the Crimean peninsula, what was Obama’s reaction?

President Obama himself, having delivered a limp warning to Vladimir Putin, decamped for a meeting of the Democratic National Committee, where he told a cheering crowd: “Well, it’s Friday, it’s after 5:00. So this is officially happy hour with the Democratic Party.”

Obviously you’re right. But then why does resolute, lying, paper ass waste his breath making ridiculous threat noises like he’s some kind of strong, scary leader who would do exactly the opposite? Putin must be laughing himself silly.

Hell, my corgi was a stronger candidate than the other three combined. Palin is a whole lot stronger and smarter than that.

the Russian military does not need to invade – it is already there, leasing facilities from the Ukrainian authorities. – The bulk of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet is based in Crimea with its headquarters in Sevastopol. Ukraine crisis timeline -http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-26248275

Knowing that, it makes you wonder why the press and the oval office paper ass are desperately trying to make it look like Putin is threatening military escalation of some kind. Russia has a huge vested interest in protecting all of that.

Not to disparage Governor Palin (PBUH), but she only stated what should be obvious to any student of European History since the Fall of Rome. The Russians are a different breed of cat. They have historically feared encroachment from Western Europe into the heartland of Russia on one side and the Chinese on the other. They consider themselves under siege from all sides. This was bound to happen eventually and will happen again in Moldova, Belarus and the Baltic Republics eventually. We’ll replay the Great Game in Central Asia if those countries start getting too cozy with the West as well. Sarah Palin merely demonstrated her knowledge of history. People find such knowledge amazing, especially from a mere state university grad, but in truth, we should expect it from those who wish to lead.

Obama, Biden, Hillary, and Kerry have been on the wrong side of history in nearly every foreign policy issue of their lives. Putin no longer has any respect for or fear of the US as long as we are “led” by such weaklings.

Do remember, for future reference, that we would not be subjected to this danger and humiliation if we had not acquiesced in 25 years of campaigning to “Rock the Vote,” postcard registration, unrestricted absentee voting, mail voting, early voting, and basically cajoling every ignorant half-wit over 18 to register and vote.

A Republic requires an educated, interested, and involved electorate, not herds of idiots being whipped into frenzies by fear and promises.

    Add outright election theft.

Add an in-the-tank media actively propagandizing.

Add the culture, such as Hollywood, television, music, and educational institutions also actively propagandizing.

I have very serious doubts about that. The logistical requirements of supporting even a unit as small as a brigade combat team would be overwhelming for the type of combat we would likely face there.
The logistical load for the AFG is far lower and trying to support it though sea lift on the Black Sea, or air lift, would simply get ships and aircraft destroyed. Putin can put far more men and equipment into Ukraine than NATO can, and the Russian Army is a different thing than it was just 20 years ago.
