Your attention is drawn to Andrew McCarthy, who states it succinctly:

The point of showing that Obama is carrying out a massive scheme to defraud — one that certainly would be prosecuted if committed in the private sector — is not to agitate for a prosecution that is never going to happen. It is to demonstrate that there is logic to the lies. There is an objective that the fraud aims to achieve. The scheme is the framework within which the myriad deceptions are peddled. Once you understand the scheme, once you can put the lies in a rational context, you understand why fraud was the president’s only option — and why “If you like your plan, you can keep your plan” barely scratches the surface of Obamacare’s deceit.

Read, understand and motivate your neighbors. 2014 is past the whole “most important election of your life”. We’re past any easy remedy for the Statist cancer. No, our back is now to the wall.

Hard to feel much empathy for the insurance companies. They cut their deal with Cthulhu, who doesn’t seem to handle that whole “transaction” thing terribly well. One speculates that a grand jury investigation might uncover some email hinting that, while insurance companies will surely be on the hook for claims, the Administration always had “BenghaziCare” intentions for reimbursment.

    It was one thing for the administration to lie and quite expected that it would lie since power, control and personal enrichment was the goal. The other is that the public was so willing to be misled, so willing to be deceived and even willing to defend that deception and manipulation. What is it with people who are willing to defend lies? That very group that would suffer under this plan felt that everything would turn out as they expected it to and not how it was designed. Those people chose to be useful idiots to the gov manipulators. Those people seem to want to suffer under tyranny to avoid admitting that they voted poorly for the garbage which constitutes the “ruling class”.

    If you view them as Outer Party members and proles, and conservatives as Goldstein, it all makes sense.

    What you’re seeing is the expected result of decades of the media pounding into their heads that conservatives, if not entirely evil, simply do not like them and never have their interests at heart. It’s taken its toll and they, by and large, are unable to shake it off no matter what painful facts present to the contrary.

    So now that the hardcore leftists have attained near-absolute and probably permanent power (I truly believe this), like Cthulu eating his most ardent worshipers first, the Left’s boot stamps ever harder on the faces of the Outer Party members just because that’s what absolute power affords. But the brainwashed are still brainwashed, as proved by the fact that they are willing to believe Big Brother when he says he still loves them, even if they no longer truly love him back.

    For the hard core leftists, it’s one thing to fight for power and another to maintain it. There may be no hope for those who prefer lies to reality. They will never anticipate what is happening in time to save themselves from it and apparently are incapable facing the reality of what is to come because they refuse to listen to those who do see what is coming.

    Yep. Controlling, corrupting or neutralizing various elements of the electorate, through a dozen different means for over a century, was the key to bringing down the Republic, and it worked. I’m willing to be wrong but the point of no return appears in the rearview mirror.

    Any focus on the failures of ObamaCare web sites or even the lies to support this FAIL is misplaced. Even if signups when smoothly and 100% got their coverage, the system itself is corrupt, economically disastrous and morally corrosive. It is the most grave threat to the very meaning of being “American” since the passage of the Federal Reserve Act, the income tax and the Great Society.

    But don’t take it from me. Put socialism in another context, on another continent, with a different people, and see its effect on them.

    Václav Havel was a playwright, essayist and a poet. He was also the last President of Czechoslovakia before it was broken up into the Czeck Republic and Slovaka.

    He lived under suffocating socialism. Socialism depends upon a fundamental lie: that society will be better when everyone lives at the expense of everyone else. This required institutionalized lies that had a horribly corrosive effect on humanity. In his famous essay, Power of the Powerless, he wrote:

    I believe in cycles and not dead end streets. The lib/pogs have had their successes in pushing their agenda and now that seems to be slowing down. They don’t have any good ideas, only deception and manipulation to hide their intent. They will have to work harder to maintain what they have accomplished so far and that won’t be easy. What can’t be sustained, won’t be sustained. There is a great deal of energy forming to break those chains. Tyranny is not a path to success for anyone.

    How does it make sense to blame insurance companies? What choice did they have? With Obama, a Democratic Senate with 60 votes until Teddy was called home to Hell, and Pelosi in charge of the House, their “choice” was to find some way to go along and fit into ObamaCare or just go out of business.

    Insurance executives don’t exist to fight for ideologies. They have a legal fiduciary responsibility to their shareholders and bondholders to protect their investments and maximize their returns. Once it was clear Democrats had the votes and the determination to force it through, the insurance companies were between a rock and a hard place.

    Failure to accommodate would have been a criminal dereliction of their lawful responsibilities.

    Far be it from me to enlighten the ignorant populist bombthrowers, though.

    Exactly, but modern tyrants have learned well from their predecessors and actively seek to suppress or remove armed opposition or, failing that, become better armed themselves. Also, the ones who removed them, very often, were their fellows so the tyranny remained in place. The common man remained subjected whoever was in charge.

    Don’t get me wrong, I agree with you 100% in principle, I’m just not very optimistic anymore.
