Alec Baldwin has advantages any man could envy: Wealthy, famous, good-looking, intelligent and talented, Baldwin has been a successful actor since debuting on the NBC soap opera The Doctors at age 22. His breakthrough as a major movie star came in the 1990 film adaptation of Tom Clancy’s classic Cold War thriller, The Hunt for Red October, and Baldwin was also memorable for his role as the brutal company representative Blake in 1992’s Glengarry Glen Ross. For his role as Jack Donaghy on NBC’s comedy 30 Rock, Baldwin won two Emmys, three Golden Globes, and seven Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Why, then, is Alec Baldwin so miserable and angry?
And why does it seem that, every time this high-profile progressive celebrity has a run-in with paparazzi, he starts shouting hateful slurs?
I mean, "bastard," "SOB," "as$hole" — @ABFalecbaldwin skips those, goes directly to gaybaiting. @FilmLadd @vermontaigne @BruceCarrollSC

— Robert Stacy McCain (@rsmccain) November 16, 2013
Baldwin has been suspended from his MSNBC news show, and has issued a weird public statement via Huffington Post:
I never used the word faggot in the tape recording being offered as evidence against me. What word is said right after the other choice word I use is unclear. But I can assure you, with complete confidence, that a direct homophobic slur (or indirect one for that matter) is not spoken. In the wake of referring to a tabloid “journalist” as a toxic queen, I would never allow myself to make that mistake again, nor would I expose my wife and family to the attendant ridicule. My friends who happen to be gay are baffled by this. They see me as one who has recently fought for marriage equality and has been a supporter of gay rights for many years. Now, the charge of being a “homophobic bigot,” to quote one crusader in the gay community, is affixed.
As someone who is directly opposed to the “gay rights” agenda which, in this case, Baldwin uses as a sort of Teflon shield against the accusation of “homophobia,” let me note that this situation exposes the bizarre Orwellian nature of political correctness. As long as you are supportive of a political agenda, Baldwin seems to believe, this exempts you from any criticism about your words and deeds that may seem like hypocritical betrayals of your avowed politics.
It’s like Al Gore living in a gigantic energy-sucking mansion and traveling by CO2-spewing jets and limos, even while he gets rich by preaching about global warming to the lowly plebians.
Alec Baldwin may be a misogynistic bully — but he’s pro-choice! He may scream hateful slurs — but he’s for “marriage equality”!
And our Nobel Peace Prize-winning president can drone-strike terrorists while running a vast surveillance state, yet as long as he gives lip service to the “progressive” cause, nobody on the Left is supposed to notice these mind-boggling contradictions.
Alec Baldwin supporting gay rights while using homophobic slurs is uncannily like Alec Baldwin supporting Occupy while cutting ads for banks

Despite all his advantages, Alec Baldwin seems strangely unhappy, and his latest angry outburst has made him a laughingstock, the butt of endless jokes in a painful ritual of public humiliation. His career will probably survive this embarrassment. Like Charlie Sheen, Baldwin is such a marketable commodity in show business that it is nearly impossible for him to destroy his acting career.
Nevertheless, his humiliation could be a teachable moment — if not for him, at least for others who are watching this public meltdown with a mixture of horror and glee. Whether you like Alec Baldwin or you despise Alec Baldwin, you can learn from Alec Baldwin.
Honestly, @ABFalecbaldwin: Keep it up and you could beat @amandabynes for Best Celebrity Meltdown of the Year. http://t.co/YndjgkWu3p

Everyone wants success. Everyone wants praise and admiration. Most people get far less success, praise and admiration than they want, while a few people seem to get much more than they deserve.
Alec Baldwin has in his lifetime reaped more success, praise and admiration than most people could ever imagine. His estimated net worth is $65 million, his reported salary is $300,000 per TV episode and he was once married to Kim Basinger, for crying out loud.
But it’s never enough, is it? Somewhere deep inside Alec Baldwin there is a gaping void, an abyss in his soul, and from that dark chasm erupt the geysers of hatred that have brought him to shame.
Perhaps some readers could suggest a cure, and perhaps we should be all grateful, for there but for the grace of God go you or I.

Part of it is the leftist’s driving need to feel superior to everyone else. It accounts for the sort of virulent hatred they show – for instance, in recent years George W. Bush and Sarah Palin have been the biggest targets, but the left will spread the hate to anyone who disagrees with them, about anything.
In Baldwin’s case, he reminds me of recent incidents related by friends. In one case, an employee in a professional office was habitually late, calling in sick, leaving during working hours to run personal errands, and the like. Her co-worker asked me, “How does she think she can get away with it?”
Another friend’s sister lives in Chicago, and was relating to her by phone what a problem she was having with her five year old son at the store. He was acting out because Mom wouldn’t take him to the takeout window he wanted for their evening meal. “Who lets their five year old choose where they eat?”
My answer to both was the same: “Because they know they can get away with it, because no one ever calls them to account and they DO get away with it.”
Baldwin is the same. He can blow up at the slightest inconvenience and erupt with racist, misogynist, or homophobic slurs because he does it over and over again and no one holds him responsible. Oh, an insincere apology, but then he’s right back at it.
He isn’t fired from his TV show or commercial gigs ever after repeated incidents. Paula Deen used a racial slur once in private 30 years ago shortly after being robbed, and lost her shows and publishing and endorsement deals. If you are a leftist, you get away with this stuff because you can.
On a more personal level, look at Team Kimberlin. Several of them should be behind bars. If they were radical right wing militia members, there would be warrants out for them. But as radical leftists, they can harass and threaten all the innocent people they want to, send SWAT teams to innocent people’s houses – and then poop on the cop cars when they take a notion.

Baldwin is right though. You can’t accuse him of homophobia. Whichever way you want to spin the word, Baldwin is still right.
He is certainly not afraid of homosexuals (phobia), and he is certainly not intolerant of them or he wouldn’t have a pink flamingo as a hairdresser.
In short, he is not homophobic. Because of his disdain and disgust for homosexuality, he certainly seems less sexually perverted than many in Hollywood, and for that now he must be lashed in the media until he learns to kiss those pink boots properly.

Submit to kissing the pink farts or you’ll be humiliated by our moral superiors. That’s the game in the arena on now.
I don’t think Baldwin gives a ship about what the social media masses are chattering about him. I certainly don’t know the man, but I can’t imagine anything in this episode’s fallout being even remotely painful to Baldwin. Either he is snickering or he dismisses the reactions totally.
I imagine he cares about money though. And he’ll pay good money for just he right PR person to write the dandy apology to teh gheys every time. Seriously, his PR person knows how to do their job:
****On Twitter, Baldwin said he was not aware that “c–k sucker” was an offensive term to the gay community and he would refrain from using it in the future. He denied using the word “fag.”
“Anti-gay slurs are wrong,” Baldwin tweeted. “They not only offend, but threaten hard fought tolerance of LGBT rights.”****

Me too. I’m not in favor of the punching, but some of them cross into clear harassment territory, so I understand…
I don’t think they are all scum though; most aren’t any different than most of the editors they sell to or to the public that can’t stop consuming like idiots this celebrity “culture” (now there’s an oxymoron: celebrity culture)!
If there was no consumption, there’d be no paparazzi… as simple as that

Totally Off Topic: On November 15, in a comment to Stacy’s “Obamacare Debacle” post, I noted the Vasa as an appropriate metaphor. I also mentioned it at Ace’s. Yesterday, NRO writes it up and it gets an Instalanche. Don’t tell me it’s coincidental.

Sounds about right.
That gaping hole inside him is probably God-shaped, and being a leftist, he is equally probably trying desperately to not admit that to himself.

The worst thing about being a leftist is every now and then reality bites you right on the butt and you realize that the mouthbreathing snake handling sister humping teabaggers in flyover country have a far better grasp of it than you do.
And it just isn’t fair. You know you’re smarter than all of them put together, and having them be right is like having gravity suddenly stop working.
Except in the case of lefties, gravity is precisely what they don’t believe in, and when they crash and burn they still can’t figure out why the people they despise are nodding and saying “Told you. An object accelerates at 32 feet per second squared in the Earth’s gravity.” They’re genuinely puzzled and ask themselves “32 what per what? Squared? What kind of racist bullshit is this? Those bastards sabotaged my Acme rocket skates and I demand a federal investigation!”
November 17th, 2013 @ 5:18 pm
It’s INCONCEIVABLE!
November 17th, 2013 @ 5:23 pm
To be fair, once somebody pointed out to Baldwin that “c*cksucking faggot” was considered a slur in some circles, he pledged to stop using it.
November 17th, 2013 @ 5:24 pm
I agree with Greg Gutfeld that what Baldwin said were what are called ‘fighting words’ – words meant to provoke [with inflection having a big effect on their impact].
‘C–ks–ker’ is a word often employed in this context.
It packs a double-barreled punch: (1) it is a word that accuses the recepient of being the lowest of the low – a sodomite [an accusation which used to have a greater impact] – the female equivalent being the word c–t; and (2) it is a word that labels the person as the worst kind of a–hole.
Let it be understood that I am not attempting to mitigate Baldwin’s Leftist hypocrisy, nor his general boorishness.

Worry not; Dear Leader said he is working very hard at getting the sign up problems fixed
November 17th, 2013 @ 5:55 pm
In fact, the only reason he hasn’t fixed them personally, at least yet, is that he doesn’t write code.
A mere detail. He probably could if he wanted to, but he’s busy pivoting to the economy right now.
