ObamaCare: Death Panels for the DCCC

Democrat 2014 campaign slogan: "Now That We Totally Fucked Up Your Health Insurance, Give Us a Chance to Fuck Up Everything Else, Too."
— Robert Stacy McCain (@rsmccain) November 14, 2013
Oh, what a difference a week can make! After the unfortunate result in the Virginia gubernatorial election, liberal pundits (and some Republicans) were declaring Ken Cuccinelli’s defeat to be the obituary of the Tea Party movement. Yet if there was one issue that defined the Tea Party, it was opposition to ObamaCare, and the utterly catastrophic debut of that program — about which Jonah Goldberg has interesting things to say — has amply vindicated their opposition.
If you want to see a microcosm of the problems looming for Democrats in their 2014 mid-term campaign to recapture the House, look no further than New York’s 23rd Congressional District:
Martha Robertson is the Democratic candidate challenging Republican incumbent Tom Reed in NY-23, my home district.
We have highlighted Robertson many times before regarding her unsubstantiated fundraising claim that “GOP ops” tried to take down her website. Robertson’s campaign never has provided proof of that claim, leading to a fair amount of negative local television coverage and even national press attention.
The fundraising scandal, which I doubt is over, likely will be overshadowed by a much bigger problem: Robertson is a long-time and vocal supporter of mandates with the ultimate goal of single-payer.
In light of the Obamacare debacle, and the inability of the federal government even to set up a website portal, a complete federal government takeover of the health care system is a hard sell.
Professor Jacobson provides video of the doomed Democrat:
This upstate New York region, where I did substantial shoe-leather coverage in 2010, is the kind of “purple” district that would be a prime target for a Democrat take-back, were it not for (a) the bad candidate, (b) her badly-run campaign, and (c) ObamaCare.
Not every swing district will have Democrat candidates as hapless as Martha Robertson, and some Republicans may face a tough fight. However, every GOP incumbent now has already held his seat through the 2012 high tide for Obama’s coattails, and the ongoing catastrophe of ObamaCare will create electoral headwinds for Democrats. Why? Because every Democrat vote in a House election will be a vote to hand the Speaker’s gavel back to Nancy Pelosi.
How’s that workin’ out for ya?

On behalf of a dozen or so friends in the health care professions, you might advise those “old” Medicaid patients that if they’d like better wait times for their appointments, perhaps they could consider showing up at the actual time of the appointment instead of three hours to three days later.
When we go about reforming this whole mess, the best favor we can do for Medicaid and Medicare is insist on co-pays for EVERY service.

“Grassroots energy” had nothing to do with the ACA disaster, it was built in. The only “grassroots energy” Cruz inspired was 1.5 million signed his “petition” and are now on his list for fundraising in the future.
He did succeed in giving Democrats one more crack at sequester cuts in January, whereas a “clean CR” would have locked them in for a year and cut the baseline for out years.

Lindsey Graham is hosting a BBQ fundraiser tonight at the USC stadium, featuring George Rogers and a host of other past Gamecock stars and touting his donation from George W. Bush. He’ll be eating ribs and laughing at the pathetic threats of those who’ve called for him to “primaried.”
Big talk doesn’t buy any TV ads. As of the last FEC report, Graham had $7 million in cash on hand, his nearest competitor who filed, $17,000.00.

I still believe that every person in congress who voted for that bill without reading it committed treason adn insulted their oath of office. If they didn’t know what was in the bill they should not have voted for it, period.

I see that the GOP wing nuts are alive and well in this rubber room. Where is the GOP’s insurance program?

Your question presupposes that there is a place for government to offer an “insurance program.” First you have to justify government intervention to the point of creating a new “program,” before than can be any discussion of what form that would take.

Our TV ads are being written for us, as in “Lindsey is the Democrats BFF. Want more OCare? Lindsey’s your guy.”

Reforms instead of OCare offered a dozen times and blocked by Dingy Harry and Obama. Next!

There is plenty to call Graham on, but O-Care isn’t one. My point, which you are too thick to understand, is that he isn’t going to be beaten because you losers are 100% talk and 0% money.

Mitt had plenty of money; how’d that work again?
November 17th, 2013 @ 4:32 am
Mitt was outspent, but not by 400-1.
The last elected incumbent Senator defeated in a primary in South Carolina was in the 1930s. Graham isn’t as unpopular here as you might think if your information comes from out of state conservative blog comments.
He isn’t invulnerable, but it would take about $2 million to give him a serious challenge, and that is a long way off for the three declared opponents.
