Not a Hate Crime, Investigators Say

Posted on | October 8, 2013 | 24 Comments

Racial hatred does not appear to be the motive for the weekend stabbing of 20-year-old Army Spec. Tevin Geike, authorities in Washington State said Monday after making five arrests:

Authorities investigating the stabbing death of a Washington-based soldier said Monday they have arrested three other soldiers who serve at the same military installation.
The Lakewood Police Department said all five suspects in the stabbing of Tevin Geike are soldiers at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. At least two of the five suspects in the case are cooperating with law enforcement, authorities said.
One of the suspects, Jeremiah Hill, had asked for first aid Saturday for a knife wound on his right hand, according to police. Authorities said another soldier stated that Hill said he cut his hand when stabbing a guy to death over the weekend.
Police described Hill, 23, as the “main suspect” in the case and said he did not make a statement and asked for a lawyer. Cedarium Johnson, 21, and Ajoni Runnion-Bareford, 21, were also booked into the Pierce County Jail on Monday morning, according to Lakewood police.
Detectives had been investigating whether the stabbing was racially motivated — and potentially a hate crime — but said Monday after interviewing those involved that it does not appear that race was a factor.

Stabbed to death by a fellow soldier? Awful.

Sends a very strong signal that our military members are not always the stalwart, moral folks we believe them to be.

White man kills a black man, and “Oh, that’s a hate crime!” But you let a black man kill a white man, and “No, that’s not a hate crime….”

I call bullshit. They’re animals, all of them. Like the ones that killed my damned cousin, Michael Landon Hill in 1994.

Racist? No, I am a racial realist and I know what those mongrels will do.

That’s right and increasingly so. It’s well known that the various services recruit active gang members. When they’re discharged they’re better trained and armed should they continue that affiliation when they come home. Lakewood is the home of the Hilltop Crips so it is actually more likely this was gang related than a hate crime. The crime rate has increased yearly at near the same rate as the increase in military population. It’s the same area those white police officers were ambushed and shot to death by one black man while they were having breakfast.

Racial realism is what caused the cowardly defenestration of John Derbyshire. We haven’t said it for awhile but, Rich Lowry is a coward, right long with the GOP “leadership.”

    calling bull.

As a former detective having to deal with “hate crime” I can tell you this for a fact. If a black man was wearing “I hate crackers” t-shirt, drove a car with Nation of Islam bumper stickers, and yelled out loud “I hate whitey” just before he killed a white man, the SAO would look to not charge him with a hate crime.

There is a built in bias within the system. It is hard to prove, nobody wants to cross that PC barrier to convict. (Why? Because the NOI or the NBP can put out a bounty on your head, and your crime is you were an honest juror.) Bill Whittle does an outstanding job explaining the dangers of PC in one of his videos.

EVERYBODY knows this who is being honest. In this nation we consistently let a small percentage of the people control the entire conversation in court, in school, in society.

Of course this is a hate crime. Black soldiers attacking a white soldier? What is the difference between them. Is their gang involvement? Absolutely, but one does not preclude the existence of the other.

Yesterday I said it was pleasantly surprising to see that the hate crimes laws (which I agree are totally wrong) were potentially being applied equally.

Obviously I was wrong. I wonder who in the DoJ contacted them to remind them of how these things work in the current PC climate? Or did Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson make the call?

    Cynical, who, me?

We don’t need “hate crimes” laws. If we just treat everybody the same, and enforce the laws on the books, what need is there of a hate crime add-on?

This crime was a murder; there’s no additional punishment we can impose on the murderers.

If I assault a black man to steal his wallet, is he somehow harmed less than if I assault a black man because I don’t like blacks?

If everyone is treated the same, there’s no place for “special people”. And we can’t very well have that now, can we?

  15. librarygryffon
    October 8th, 2013 @ 12:29 pm

But that’s a logical argument, and we can’t have those. They don’t make people feel all special and caring. /sarc

I’ve always thought it was a stupid, if not actively evil, thing. As you say, does it really matter to the person who is now dead why you killed him? He’s still just as dead, whether it was because you wanted his money, you hated him personally, or you hated his skin color.

It’s just that if we are going to have these stupid, evil laws on the books, I’d like to see them applied equally. Which we never will, because PC dictates that only those with pale skin can be “haters”.

There is likely the ethos of the gangs involved: never permit an insult to stand. The soldier who is alleged to have committed the murder will be tried, and if convicted, will be dealt with. The soldiers who are alleged to have assisted will also be dealt with.
I’m only surprised the MSM didn’t spout it’s standard meme of ‘PTS crazy murdering vet.’

Not a hate crime? Oh well, let’s execute the perpetrator anyway. He’ll be just as dead.

Go back and read the comments posted on Sunday, a full day prior to any arrests being made and before PC Prosecutor Lindquist and his lackeys had the opportunity to put the preferred spin on the evidence, in The News Tribune, KOMO, KIRO, Seattle Times, Q13, The Pee Eye and in all of the national media. A good estimate would be that they were running five to seven or eight to one in favor of a prediction that local law enforcement and particularly the Pierce County Prosecutor would remake the evidence fit the their preferential outcome.

I can’t help but notice just how prescient those doing the posting were. Boy do you people have a good grasp on what goes on.

From two articles published this morning –

“Both friends of the victim and friends of the suspect agree that race was not the issue here,” Lindquist told The News Tribune. “Detectives reported to me that there may have been some trash talk, but that race was a non-issue.”

    and

“It appears from interviewing everyone involved that race was not a motivating factor in this homicide,” Lawler said in a statement on Monday. He did not clarify whether the initial reports of a racially charged verbal exchange were corroborated by subsequent interviews.

“The main suspect, Jeremiah Hill, did not make statement; so it’s unknown exactly why he did this,” Lawler said.

Can Mr Lindquist please explain to me precisely how does one get from “it’s unknown exactly why he did this” to “race was a non-issue.” The only explanation I can come up with is that certain explanations are off limits?

World Net Daily, it seems, is alone of covering the otherwise ignored epidemic of Black on White murders, rapes and assaults.* There is a consistency in the cases in that, regardless as to how egregious the acts of Black assailants against White (other other Non-Black) victims, it is rarely deemed a ‘hate’ crime.

Special laws for me and not for thee.

Seems to me that this is a violation of Equal Protection before the law.

    * referring often to a book covering the epidemic entitled, “White Girl Bleed a Lot.”

That’s totally bullshit. I saw two video interviews with the victim’s best friend and he plainly said that he heard one of the guys yell cracker at the group. That’s when one of them yelled back at the car full of thugs.

Allegedly the soldier said something to the effect of: “Is that how you treat combat vets?”

Now if these guys are suddenly changing their story…that leads me to believe that they didn’t realize the punks in the car were soldiers as well. And that they may have been embellishing the story they told the press.
