‘Retreating Into Masada Would Not Save The GOP Zealots From The Legion,’ Spake Senator Harry ‘Biggus Dickus’ Reid

Congresswoman Michele Bachmann remains inspirational:

According to Bachmann, the general agreement among Republicans is that the resistance to President Obama’s agenda surrounding the shutdown has now expanded beyond Obamacare, thanks to Obama’s intransigence. “This is a lot bigger than Obamacare,” Bachmann said. “This is about whether this country is going to succumb to socialism and this dictatorship of a White House. It began with this WWII memorial pushback. It continues with the National Park Service’s attempt to shut down Pisgah Inn in North Carolina. We’re going to push back.”

As always, the lady from Minnesota speaks great truth. With the support of the Tea Party (and who knows? Maybe some of the GOP Pharisees in the Senate who come over to the cause), we can make this the turning point to restoring limited government to the country. Or at least not end up like the Zealots:

Lighter colored wedge on the right side of the image is where Peter O’Toole (played by Lucius Flavius Silva in the historical account) and the lads built the Ramp of Doom.

Cryin’ John could stand up to us when he betrayed us and we bad mouthed him for it, but when the Demoncrats start calling him names he seems to have grown a spine. No matter what caused it, it was too long in coming and none of this would have been necessary if he’d grown one earlier.

Bachmann is a truly evil woman who condemns gay people while being married to a closeted one. He’s even more twisted than she is though since his self loathing is so deep over his desires that he runs a conversion therapy clinic and on tax payer funds too.

Doesn’t it seem more likely that he got the nod to fight the democrat’s on this from big money donors? When they hear from us “voters” we get a lot of excuses but the folks who fill up your campaign coffers expect a little more than just lip service.

I suspect the reason he’s grown a spine is because some folks with money have his back.

There are folks with “means” that aren’t happy with the current tone that D.C. is taking toward fossil fuel for example…coal, oil, natural gas, the keystone pipeline….

  30. Adjoran

What does she mean by “push back” here? What leverage do we have?

Until and unless the polls turn against Obama and the Democrats, they are happy to leave things as they are and blame us. The media is fully compliant. 100% of this was obviously forseeable.

So certainly the brilliant Cruz-Lee team has a plan for this situation. Smart people wouldn’t rush into a dead-end canyon unless they had a plan to get out or win from there, right?

We followed you all in here, so what’s the Secret Plan to Victory?

Been to Masada – it is worth the trip if you can make it. It’s where I learned the Second Law of Castles.
The spite being exercised by Obama and his lieutenants is cause sour stomachs to many Americans, and this ‘pox on both houses’ is destabilizing the Dems, who have much to lose from angry, questioning Americans.
The TEA Party stands to lose something as well. If the next round of welfare checks does not go out, and more importantly the military/government retiree and Social Security checks of honorably retired citizens are withheld (I am expecting Obama to do this regardless, in spite to the honorable retirees and veterans), people will understand the TEA Party desires the death of Government-as-Santa-Claus. The Prognazis may not have to pay for protestors once the governments teat is withdrawn from those who can work and don’t.

With all due respect, and you may do what you will, but what pray tell would your counter protest be to that?
Our economy is bad and the country is weary — many senior citizens are not of the means anymore to not rely on SS, many of the people now on welfare are working or were, and have fallen on hard times (and there are a lot of them now); the military has been fighting for 12 odd years straight and many of them are not in the best financial straights — if people come out in protest that these people should be taken care of, it isn’t going to look very good if you stage a counter protest that will essentially be spun as wanting to see them suffer more.
I’m afraid that whatever noble intentions concerning the fiscal rescue of the country would likely fall on deaf ears if this should come to pass (and it likely could). Not a winning proposition I should think, but admittedly I know little of political brinksmanship.

I think I just “got” Boehner’s strategy today and actually, it might be quite brilliant. Ok, so the Obamacare exchanges went on line October 1 and everyone who does not have insurance is REQUIRED to sign up by Jan 1 or pay the IRS penalty. So over the next few weeks, people are going to start going to the exchanges — and so far from the looks of it, they are going to be SHOCKED at the cost of coverage in many cases. Judging from the Facebook page, people are NOT happy AT ALL with the costs they are seeing. Now, as more people start going to the exchange and start seeing how much this is going to cost them, they see the Republicans trying to block it and the Democrats trying to force them into this. This is forcing the Democrats to defend what is going to become an increasingly unpopular program and is going to start making the Republicans look like the good guys and the people who are going to be noticing this are people who are dead in the center of the Democrat demographic.

Boehner picked exactly the perfect time for this fight in the perfect way. There literally is no down side to this for the Republicans and the hole the Democrats have dug themselves gets deeper with every passing day and every poor Democrat that visits the website and learns how much this is really going to cost them.

    Brilliant, actually.

Sorry, but that’s pretty vague. So our “resolve” is firm and nothing happens. How does it ever end? What is the optimum result, and how likely is it to achieve?

Are these unreasonable things to ask before jumping into a course of action?

  48. Adjoran
    October 5th, 2013 @ 3:20 am

No, Boehner most certainly did not devise such a brilliant strategy, although it could work out that way. His hand was forced by the national campaigns of Cruz and Lee, whose ads were all over cable and satellite TV.

There was no need for a shutdown for ObamaCare to crash and burn. It can do that without our help or interference, and all we are doing is giving Obama more excuses to blame us. They aren’t true, of course, but what does the man EVER say that is true?

The lead stories every night would be about the failed launch of ObamaCare if we hadn’t given them this distraction. Boehner is just looking for a reasonable way out, which is more than Cruz or Lee every gave a thought to.

Take a look at how fired up people are.

It’s not the Occupy nutjobs that are going to be pouring into the streets. We’re closer to torches and pitchforks now than any time just prior to the Civil War.

If this boils over, it won’t just be a “counter protest.” It will be something historic.
