#Syria: ‘Just Thinking Out Loud’

Posted on | September 3, 2013 | 35 Comments

John Kerry’s testimony today about Syria was tremendously encouraging — to the Assad regime, and to America-haters everywhere, who are certainly exultant that this idiot is now Secretary of State.

The very fact that John Kerry thinks this policy is a good idea is pretty much an ironclad guarantee that it will be a complete disaster.

Bipartisan compromise” — another guarantee of failure.

Anyway, I had the TV on MSNBC all day, and it’s weird how these erstwhile pacifists are now raving like the neocon warhawks they warned us against. Their bellicose rhetoric was shocking — Rachel Maddow sounded like a bloodthirsty killer — and quite strange.

UPDATE: John Sexton has also noticed the weirdness at “MSNBC: The Place for War,” and Ed Driscoll has further thoughts on the hopeless failure of Democrat “smart diplomacy” foreign policy.

UPDATE II: Quite literally, I laughed out loud:

Kerry: Obama will not puts boots on the ground,
unless this mission fails, which it is expressly
designed to do, and what are the odds of that?

It would be a lot funnier, if it wasn’t so damned true.

With the left it’s all about the side, not the policies.

But before we condemn, are we equally guilty of supporting our side regardless of direction?

Look, Obama committed to this thinking he had the Brits on his side, and not planning to ask Congress’s permission. Then the British parliament voted no, and suddenly Obama got the idea that maybe he should get Congress to vote for it.

This is about Obama out-sourcing responsibility, period. No matter the result, he got caught bluffing, and looks like an idiot.

But do you think this policy will work out? I can’t help thinking that the President who so badly miscalculated British intentions won’t be much better at calculating Syrian intentions.

This war that Obama wants is about 2 (or 3) things: the 2014 mid-term elections (as well as the New Jersey and Virginia elections this year) and one more excuse to justify higher taxes.

We need to stay out of Syria, if we do not there is a strong possibility that we will set off a large regional war and possibly WW3. For what? What does Syria have that we need? If we are not going to play world policemen (I don’t want us to) for each country , what is the reason that we are going into Syria? Pick a country in Africa that has been fighting a civil war, their death toll is higher yet we do nothing? Its alleged Syria used WMD on their own people. Not proven , yet because O drew a silly line in the sand we are going to attack? Much rather them gas each other then us…

I agree with Maetenloch: “But even if I were convinced that Syria-bombing was exactly what was needed, I would still never put it into the hands of this particular collection of clowns, blowhards, naïve radicals, preening narcissists, high-functioning retards, and generally clueless-but-arrogant space-wasters. Hell some of these people I’d be nervous even trusting to pick up my mail and feed my pets while I was on vacation.”

I don’t understand why Obama would expect the Brits to give him the time of day. He’s backstabbed them at every opportunity.

John Kerry should go over there and explain to them just how racist they are.

I am sick to my stomach about this. First, they were talking about lobbing a couple missiles. Now they’re talking about sending my brothers over there to get slaughtered. And the worst of it is that this fking scumbag of a President is making us fight along side our declared enemy. Not as an ally in a war against a common foe, but literally right next to terrorists who are sworn to kill us.

Every politician who votes for this needs to be voted out of office.

Obama’s all about fairness and spreading the wealth around. Which suggests an excellent solution to this difficult problem (entirely of Obama’s own making).

We bomb both sides equally. Hell, I vote we do a Number Six on both. Even the Russians would be in for that.

Good riddance to bad garbage. Except that he should have lingered on for a few years, and gotten the “Bill Schmalfeldt” treatment from his cellmates.
