Honestly, my plan today had been to write about the Virginia governor’s race or Barrett Brown or Michael Hastings, but a certain fateful sentence in Gaelic has been invoked, so I can’t turn loose of the “Free Kate” denouement just yet. While I was engaged in serious work, however, a friend had a Twitter go-round with a bisexual “child-free” feminist atheist who presumed to lecture him:

Damn, these people just hate facts, don’t they?

Back to work. Because nobody has out-crazied me yet.

    I just made the biggest mistake of my life and tried to read her blog. I feel…unclean and mentally unstable right now. The logical inconsistencies, the blatant fallacies and the sheer pointlessness of being is just overwhelming.

    What worries me is that the left claim a lot of intellectuals and academics among their flock, however, something has disengaged their intellect from reality so they are no longer capable of actually applying their intellect and functioning in the real tangible world. They make everything up and then help you create your own fantasy world to live in.

    The hero-victim narrative is endemic to just about all of leftism, a race to the bottom for the coveted spot of Most Oppressed. Oh, they love claiming that they hate it, but the truth is that we’re talking about a collected group of attention whores whose political beliefs are really just a way to indulge their neuroses.

    One of the more hilarious observances of this comes from when I called myself a “Reconstructionist Pagan”, and came across this site of conservative pagans who shared a tale of insanity that was both highly amusing yet tragic at the same time, complete with people on medication who go off it and mistake their hallucinations for “trips to the astral plane”. But it’s a very long tale, so I’ll simply skip to Antistoicus’s succinct summary of just why it is that the bored-yet-mentally-unstable are drawn to both “eclectic Wicca” as well as leftism in general. The summary begins here and there’s a few insights on the next page as well.

    If one’s perceived reality can be so easily be remolded by one’s will, how difficult will it be, really, for one’s wishes to remold it into a form that makes one’s actions reasonable ones, transforming one into the hero in the imagined drama that is one’s life?This all becomes a matter of pure behaviorism: that which is repeated with encouragement is reinforced. The experience of having their intuitive leaps ‘confirmed’ in this manner time and time again gave the acolytes that which is least likely to encourage reasonability: overconfidence.

    And it isn’t only Neo-Pagans who “reshape their reality” to the more favorable one inside their own heads. Even leftist atheists do this, as our “dear teacher” here.

    As I commented below, paranoid flights of fancy are far more fun and interesting than boring and depressing reality. When one has the bizarre belief in a VRWC controlled by Jewish bankers/white cis heteronormative patriarchy, it’s not only exiting to paint oneself as a “noble crusader”, but one can also avoid the sad reality that many of the hardships paranoid leftists face are entirely the result of their own stupid actions.

    From analyzing her writing “style” (if one could call it that), the content of her tweets and blog entries as well as her (?) profile I have come to a studied conclusion:
    This is actually a hermophroditic troglodyte that is overly obsessed with goats.

    He/she/it should fuck off. (Beware any goat herders in its general locale).

    I’m guessing “unjustified sense of superiority due to inferiority complex and other mental health issues” somehow didn’t make the list. Can’t ever admit the real problem.*

    * – Not referring to conservative, non-evangelical atheists, mind you. I’m talking about the ones who want that highly-coveted Oppressed Minority merit badge and aren’t even real atheists, anyway.
