Shocking Claim: #FreeKate’s Mother Is ‘Cool Mom,’ in the Very Worst Way

Kaitlyn Smith with her parents on NBC’s ‘Today’ show, May 23
The following anonymous comment, on a CBS story about the Kaitlyn Hunt case, was left by someone claiming to be an acquaintance:
The comment transcribed:
Sadly I blame her mother, Kelley. Someone I know personally.
Many years ago I knew something like this would happen with one of her daughters. Not to this extent, but something major.
She has always allowed her daughters to do as they please. I know for a fact that the 2nd oldest dated a 20 year old when she was only 14! The mother would allow these things. The girls [were allowed] to have boys over for parties, that would turn into a sleepover, where there would be drug and alcohol use. This was a few years ago, but the kids at that time ranged from 13-15.
They are just like their mother! Unfortunately, it is how they are being raised! This girl is now paying for the way she was raised, all because the mother did not teach right from wrong.
People can say all they want, think what they want. All of this boils down to not being raised properly. Never being told no, sex talk in front of these girls from the mother about her boyfriends. The mom has no filter!
Mom was more worried about getting out with friends and getting laid while these kids would sit home and babysit the younger ones just a few years ago.
Seriously sickens me! Who wants to hear about sex talk from your mom about her sex life. I remember MySpace days, Kelley was having her daughters take pictures of her in lingerie and Kelley would post them to MySpace!
I support Kate! I do not support her mother!
Normally, I wouldn’t quote something like this and, of course, I cannot verify any of the commenter’s specific allegations, all of which may be completely false for all I know, but . . .
But it is self-evident that nobody ever taught Kaitlyn Hunt “right from wrong,” or else she wouldn’t be in the Indian River County Jail.
Furthermore, from the first time I started writing about this story, feminist blogger (and sexual abuse survivor) S.J. Reidhead has been concerned that Kaitlyn Hunt’s behavior was that of someone who had been sexualized at an early age.
Kaitlyn was “acting out,” as the therapists say. Would this commenter’s tale tend to explain some of that “creepy” vibe that’s been emanating from the Hunt family since Day One of this story?
Again, I repeat, I have no way to know if any specific accusation in this anonymous commenter’s tale are true, but the general portrayal of Kelley Hunt Smith’s behavior as the “Cool Mom” when she was divorced, four or five years ago, would certainly be consistent with the anti-social hoodlum behavior of her daughters: “Beat her f–king ass, Emily! Beat her ass! Get that bitch!”
Where do you think girls like that come from, anyway? Violent, foul-mouthed, tattooed — who raises their daughters to be that way?
“She is known as a whore throughout the school . . .
my whole school knows she’s not a good person.”
That’s what one of her Sebastian River High School classmates said about Kaitlyn Hunt in May, complaining about the media portrayal of her as an “innocent” young girl. And then there was this message that Kaitlyn’s younger sister posted on Twitter:
Kelley to her daughter about how she “whooped her ass,” and Emily reacts: “Lmfao my moms f–king badass!!” As I said when I posted that screenshot in May: “Hunt family values, as it were.”
So, is this the kind of mother who would do the kinds of things the anonymous commenter alleges? And is the behavior of Kelley Hunt Smith’s daughters about what we might expect from someone raised that way? Reader may draw their own conclusions.
Kelley Hunt Smith named the parents of Kaitlyn’s victim nine times in her May 17 Facebook post, accusing them of “trying to ruin my daughters life . . . trying to send an innocent young girl to prison because they are full of hate and bigotry.”
No, Kelley, they didn’t “ruin” Kaitlyn’s life — you did.
And you should be ashamed of yourself for what you have done.

Kate is wearing the Free Kate t-shirt.
Momma Hunt’s gotta show off her cleavage for the camera.

I’m disturbed the Free Katers are now implying the victim is “suicidal.” Wish I could take a screenshot, but I’m not at home. Those people are so nuts I wouldn’t be surprised if this was their way of psychologically torturing the victim into believing she were better off “gone.” Maybe I’m paranoid, but they seem delighted in discussing it. I’m sure the posts are being deleted as I speak.

Dear God, what sinful, sinful scum. They have basically destroyed their child, and perhaps the others, all due to their own self-loathing behavior.
If they don’t get straight, they are gonna burn big time…

It occurs to me that Mamma Hunt is one of those individuals whose emotional development became “arrested” the moment she graduated high school. For her, undoubtedly, that was the pinnacle of her life, and her entire existence since has been predicated on recapturing that wonderous time of “freedom.” This is, freedom without responsibility because there were (nominally) adults behind the scene somewhere. Thus, she’s reared her children not as a parent, but as a peer. She wants to be one of the “cool kids.” Of course, she can’t, and thus, she becomes a “cool” parent. We can blame society’s fixation with youth to the detriment of the wisdom of age, I suppose, but the bottom line is, too many adults have failed to put off childish things. And so, we wind up here.

To the parents of the girlfriend, please listen to what I have to say:
Our Lord Jesus Christ taught us to love. He wanted us to “go and tell” of His love. To love thy neighbor and to love our enemies. To do unto others as you would want done unto you. Christ did not want us to push hatred. Christ did not want us to seek vengeance.
Jesus would tell both girls the exact same words regarding their sins.
Recently I was watching AmazingDiscoveries.TV, a video stream of a Christian satellite station broadcast. A very insightful minister stated, “When Christians act out against people they do not like (Muslims and others), they make Jesus look bad.”
I feel strongly to talk to you, Christian to Christian, brother and sister in Christ. When we try to “go and tell” of Christ’s love and to believe on Him, we have a big barrier hitting us. The term “harsh Christian fundamentalism” comes up, in reference to issues likes yours with Kaitlyn Hunt. We need to do what Christ would do in all things.
All know that your daughter had just as much to do the situation as Kate, and your use of the law for the purposes of vengeance is alienating. You know your daughter still continued to engage in this relationship, against your wishes even after you sought to punish Kate harshly and far more than your own daughter.
I know you hear many people saying the “law is the law” and thus try to make you feel justified. Yet, I broke the law too, three times per week when I was in high school.
Several of my school mates and I gathered into a class room for a prayer meeting on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday before classes started. We even talked about obeying the laws of the land for what we were doing was illegal. We concluded that sometimes the law is not reasonable.
Please listen to me. The way of Christ is to forgive. As brothers and sisters in Christ, we must forgive. If we do not forgive, God cannot forgive us in Heaven. This is not the path that Jesus would take. Please show the compassion of Christ. We must show by example the way of Christ. We must not be bad examples and we must not make Jesus look bad.
Now is your moment. You can stand up and make your testimony to the world that love, compassion and forgiveness is the way of Christ and show people why we should seek Christ. Given all of the events that have been brought the light with the two girls insisting on seeing each other, still, work this out by the way of Christ. Tell the world about forgiveness to Kate and find another way to resolve this matter. This still is not your last resort for You do have other choices if you seek them out. Let the world know that we are Christians by our love.
My prayers are with you.

Who would want to see those? I would puke!
August 22nd, 2013 @ 10:29 pm
Jesus would not approve of the relationship between the two girls.

No, letting minors (other than maybe your own child) drink and have sleepovers — ESPECIALLY if they have been drinking — is not “doable” if you don’t want to get sued and maybe go to jail. Every state in the US has laws against providing alcohol to minors (other than your own child). Even countries that have no drinking age restriction for minors impose liability on adults who provide alcohol to minors who are subsequently injured or who injure others. This is a TERRIBLE idea.

The defense attorney’s rant about how terrible the victim’s parents are for yelling at her about lying to the investigators and taking away all her stuff (presumably so she won’t have anyplace to conceal any more ipads) left me shaking my head. Not that I necessarily believe anything the Hunts tell the defense attorney which gets passed along in her rants.

That is unfair to all the dogs out there. My own dogs in particular are wonderful beasts who would never behave like any of the Hunt family.
It is also unkind and unfair to ugly girls in general, who may possess the inner beauty so lacking in Kaitlyn Hunt and her ilk.
August 24th, 2013 @ 2:23 am
You can get overlawyered for daring to wake up in the morning any more, so even that is a TERRIBLE idea if you want to live in fear.
But yes, it is most definitely doable. In fact, many ethnic communities in the country (Italians, Polish, and German) have allowed minors to drink at home in small quantities, and under supervision since the Founding.
The government and lawyers need to stay out of the business of minding how parents raise their kids, and only intervene in the most extreme cases.
Like this one. Where a victim has been identified, and her parents are being harassed by a community of pedophiles.

[…] At the heart of the “Free Kate” argument is the claim that Kaitlyn’s 14-year-old victim was competent to consent to sex with an adult, and if one buys that argument — in effect invalidating the legal age of consent — then who is to say that Kaitlyn’s sister’s public boasts about her going out to drink are off-limits? In fact, one Hunt family acquaintance claims that nothing has been off limits for these girls: […]
